  • On a recent trip to the US, I stopped by the Opry Mills Mall (on former site of the Opryland theme park) and the Gaylord Opryland Resort. Despite the fact that the Opryland theme park is long gone, this resort remains incredibly popular. I wanted to figure out why, and spent some time walking around it.

Eventually, I came to the following realisation: Gaylord Opryland is a theme park without any rides or admission fees. If you're curious to know what I mean by that, then I hope the video will help explain everything!

I live in Tennessee & I've still never been here. Pretty cool to see a good tour of it.

Such an amazing looking hotel/resort. Thanks for bringing this to us!

It actually does have a boat ride, but it's just a narrated tour of the hotel's gardens. Nowhere near as exciting as what used to be at the amusement park. Thanks for the great video!

Yup, I think I mention the boat ride in the video! Kinda wish I'd done it now...

It was the dumbest thing to do away with the park to build a mall. I spent tons of time there as a teenager. It was really sad to see Opryland Resort flooded with the 2010 Nashville flood. Great job on this video.

Thanks Randy! Yeah, the consensus I get from folks who were old enough to have spent time at Opryland see what's there now as trading down.

The hotel architecture is incredible. I bet it would be a cool movie set, especially for a horror movie. :😀

Ooh, now that's an interesting idea. The place is such a biome that you could probably survive in there forever, even after the apocalypse!
