- Hello Ninfriendos, and welcome to the very best Nintendo podcast of them all, Nintendo Voice Chat. This week it's another triple threat, with Logan Plant, Peer Schneider and Seth Macy discussing the completion of the Nintendo Smash Bros. amiibo line, finally, after all these years. We also learned of some new transformations for Princess Peach in the upcoming Princess Peach: Showtime, in which Princess Peach is the titular character. Plus our Mario vs. Donkey Kong review is up, and it's good! All that plus your questions this week on Nintendo podcast with the best audience of them all.

Logan Plant is such a great addition to the team.
Huge shoutout to Peer, Brian, and Jose for getting me through the Wii U years
Some of my favourite NVCs were those three talking about hunting down amiibo while the Wii U was sinking around us.
PEER! So glad you're here! We all miss you!
Logan: the real amiibo were the careers we made along the way.
Peer!! love when he's on
NVC always needs more Peer
Great episode! Always a joy to have Peer on! Seth, you are an amazing host and Logan is such an incredible addition to the crew. So knowledgeable and insightful, he's the Ninfriendo we all wish we had on the playgrounds 🙏
The boys are back in town!
A+ panel this week.
Wow! Watching muppet baby Sam growing up to be the distinguished pinball gentleman he is today is something quite wonderful to behold!
His moustache must be very proud!
These episodes have been really great lately! Love the references to the 2013-2016 era too, when the panel struggled to talk about new Nintendo news but found ways to keep it all super interesting all the same. This episode feels like that in and of itself too. Keep it up!
Didn't plan on collecting all the amiibo, but my best super ninfriendo was doing so and roped me in. It's been 10 years of fun coordinating and tracking to get everything retail. We've gone to the reaches of foreign websites that ship to the US, like Amazon Germany (until the stopped for amiibo), and having friends who were travelling or lived in various places, like Japan, UK, and South Africa, to shop for us or ship to their houses to be able to complete our collections.
@27:50, that is Joe Keery ( Stranger Things ) in an amiibo commercial! Woah.
Yes! I was going to shout it out but I couldn't remember his name to save my life.
The Splatoon amiibo are fantastic! The ink puddles/droplets/splash are super cool!
The IKEA glass display cabinets combined with acrylic tiered display shelves make for a great amiibo display.
My most favorite amiibos are…
1. Skyward Sword HD Loftwing and Zelda amiibo
2. Wolf Link amiibo
3. Sephiroth amiibo
What is an amiibo that you would love to see? I'd love a Paper Mario one and a Shadow for the Sonic Generations remaster
Fantastic episode, fantastic panel! The golden trifecta right here. Might even say, the triforce of NVC
Value is subjective, but Nintendo’s Mario vs DK price isn’t unreasonable. In the States, the GBA original launched at $30 in 2004. With inflation, that is $48.98 today.
It warms my heart when people (correctly) say "value is subjective."
My favorite amiibo are also the Metroid Dread ones, the Tears of the Kingdom ones, and the Smash Ultimate NEW + DLC characters. They're the best quality. Also the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Fire Emblem series are great.
Zelda 2 remake! Absolutely my favorite Zelda game
The Disney Infinity figures were also really nice, and the other high point of the toys-to-life phase.
Seth:"It's Nintendo!", that man got all the inside info, bet he knows all about the Swiquel 🤔😆
I'm interesting in trying Peach's game. I'd probably wait for a demo first.
Wrong place for this, but Reb was just on NPR!!!!
My favorite amiibo currently are:
1) Donkey Kong (Smash Bros)
2) TotK Link
3) Ridley
Least favorite is probably Smash Bros Ganondorf. He looks so drab compared to R.O.B. or even Pac-Man
Entertaining show, thanks guys!
Ponder this, kid ickras uprising had notoriously difficult controls right? But just think, people now days play COD on their phones with a four finger claw position that looks like something out of a nightmare.
We just can’t get enough Peer
As long as the next Switch still supports the Pro Controller (and original Joy-Con, at least wirelessly), backwards compatibility with amiibo will work, even if the new system's controllers don't have the scanner built in.
the functionality of amiibos needs to be rethought. they should be treated as a tamagotchi which can interact and grow. amiibos should have more functionality than just item drops or leveling up with not much substance behind it. heck, amiibos should have their own game. its not hard!
The goggles, they do nothing 😎🔋
Not sure anything tops the Chibi-Robo amiibo!
They need to restock the Pikachu amiibo.
Logan is the best! Amiibo forever!
Cardboard boxes just aren't strong enough to keep around.
two NVCs in one week?
First!
at 1:06:44 they splice in AI L0G4N
No more amiibo 😢
The random Pyra/Mythra slander from Logan? Like wtf, just because you have basic tastes.
Maybe we could get the Amiibo that we deserved Doom Slayer guy who has all his games on Switch instead of the cloud joke that is Sora.
That would be a cool amiibo but he wasn't in Smash.
@@CowbopBeBoy Amiibos are not just for smash. There are plenty of non smash, non nintendo character amiibos. Monster hunter amiibos, Solaire from dark souls, Shovel Knight amiibos.
Yeah I know, but we specifically got Sora because Sora is in Smash. Partners have been free to make their own amiibo for ages, few of them did.@@hododod246
How is it when you do this show only once per week it always seems like it's the least important thing on your schedule, always with these hard outs and having to cut people short..
Because we have a limit to how long the show can be.
Why is that? And how hard a line is it because these can be a serious whiplash (and not a chibi one) at the end, could you not work to the time limit more naturally?
Because we run the show on multiple platforms and some of them have a specific limit to how long it can be. I don't have an answer to the second part other than "sure, probably."@@micabryant4513
