I remember getting this for christmas back in 2000 and getting so dissapointed cause i wanted Pokemon Gold and my mom didn’t know the difference lol simpler times!!
Lucky as hell. I had to beg mother but she is amazing and got me my first pack of cards in 1997. I got 2 Pikachus. One small with a green jungle like background and one where he is up close and fatter. Seen Raichu that day and ever since Raichu is my all time favorite.
God this game is my childhood. The satisfaction you feel when being able to fully evolve a charizard and absolutely wreck the grass gym. Managing your decks so you can have different styles and strategies. The npcs are also very fun to talk to. Why this never got a sequel is beyond me
Dude thank you for this video. I was scouring youtube looking for a playthrough of this without commentary. I used to play this game constantly and for some reason it just relaxes me now to listen to it being played.
I remember playing this game on a long road trip to another state. My family was surprised i didn't make a peep for days. I think i also had my first happy meal as well.
i remember getting this game back in méxico as a kid for my game boy color. i had no knowledge about english, yet i managed to complete the game and i had a lot of fun with it, despite not knowing what the game was saying. now being able to understand what the game actually tells you to do... kind of surreal. good ass music, 10/10.
I love it how so many people that grew up collecting the cards had no idea how to play the game, myself included. I guess we all kind of made it like a collector challenge to try and collect all 151 Pokemon (which after watching some videos, would've sucked for a kid like me who only collected from Base and didn't know about Jungle or Fossil and thus couldn't complete the set of Pokemon) rather than playing the game. You know. Gotta Catch 'em All!
I'll admit I'm not one of those people but I originally started as a collector. But as a collector and going to leagues soon enough you'll want to learn to play as most collectors were too busy playing anyways! Waiting for them to end their matches wasn't fun at all!! Lol I finally learned to play when Team Rocket came out!
I have always enjoyed playing this game, even more so now that the cards are ridiculously expensive. I think I put more time into this game building/saving the decks from your opponents in the computer than I actually spent playing the other Pokémon games combined.
This game has some better bgm than most of today's mobile games. Classic sweet music to my ears...I would love to hear these in heaven as well. The tone just suits to my temperament ❤️❤️❤️
You know, I'd love to have a new one of these now that the switch is out. Sure the online tcg is fun and all, but I'd love to go on a silly adventure where the card game is the main focus and win boosters from all the trainers. As for what sets it would have? Well, why not make it focused on the sun and moon sets, so base sun and moon all the way to cosmic eclipse. Or maybe the sets when gen 4 was out until the gen 5 set. Point is I'd love if the game have alot of sets, but focuses on the ones that came out during one generation of games. And yes I'm counting HG/SS as a gen 4 game. As should everyone. The let's go games might be the odd ones cuz they look nothing like the gen 7 games, and are too early to be a gen 8 game.
Thanks for putting this on here brings back memories and staying up late trying to get all the cards. The music the sound effects everything just so amazing to see it on here still such a fun amazing game to play
I was maybe 8 and only had been playing Pokémon for 2 years when I went to the dentist, they had game boy systems there for kids to play while you waited and this game was one of the games and at that age I couldn't really understand it but now 13 years later I understood it was a game ahead of its time

Back when I was 11 this game was my summer. Seriously. Aside from being heavily into the actual TCG, whenever I was on the go I was playing this. Took me forever to beat it since I was meticulous with the collecting aspect. Oh and Ronald was a bit of a dick.
When i was a kid I never knew colorless was normal until now and seeing this some moves are super effective against other types like flying moves but they are not and it counts as regular attacks and ghost gets hit with some ineffective moves odd isnt it?
