  • Lots of breaking news in the Lumber world and it was time I dust off my teleprompter and read everything that is on it. News from Notre Dame, the Paris Aquatic Center, Carbon Fiber and Mass Timber, Key Bridge Tragedy, and lots of great feedback from y'all. Plus I fit a few questions in about drying end grain cookies, lumber jobs, and Aniegre.

I'm a hobby woodworker. I found this lumber news very interesting. I'll keep tuning in to these; they're a better use of my audio time than entertainment options.

I enjoyed your video. I learned a lot about grading lumber, most of which I've forgotten, about 35 years ago. We had an oil spill about 35 years ago. One of our tankers spilled oil in a harbor where millions of board feet of logs were waiting for export. The logs were predominantly hemlock fir. It was interesting to watch the settlement negotiations. There was the original graded price, and there was the price of selling the wood as fuel. The insurance negotiations started with the owners claiming their cost plus the replacement cost. The log value was the cost of wood fuel plus turning the logs into fuel.

Enjoy the show. I about lost my lunch when I saw a guy out of Lynchburg I think it was selling 60 year old 12/4 and 8/4 apple slabs for $35 a BF! I just shook my head and moved on.
