Artisanal jewelry shop: didn't ask for the name when I was there and couldn't find it anywhere (not even on Google maps!), but search for C.S. Gregorio, 167, 30123, Venice (apparently a place has no sign!)
Stay away from Rialto/San Marco areas if you can, and stick to Dorsoduro and Cannaregio if you want a more authentic experience!

Having been to Venice about 20 times or more, these days I only do day trips.
When I stay in Venice I always stay on the mainland - much more value for money.
Dorsoduro is my favourite area, especially about 8am when the locals are going to work, school, to the market for their daily shop.
Otherwise beyond San Marco around Arsenale where the tourists don't venture.
To eat I will always go to Aquila Negra.
Thank you again for a fantastic vlog. Always informative and impartial.
I agree with you completely. If you have the luxury of time, go in autumn. Even the sunset on your gondola / traghetto is more spectacular.

I never stayed in Dorsoduro area as the lodgings were pricier than staying in Mestre. Any recommendations to stay in October in Dorsoduro? Hotel or Airbnb? Thank you

I stayed in Venice this past mid July for 3 nights in the Cannaregio near the Ponte delle Guglie. I loved the location BUT when time came to travel to the famous sites it was sort of nightmarish as everyone was also headed to the same direction. True about not many places to sit at St Mark's. I can't recommend get up early and walk around enough! Lovely to watch the city wake up. There are few places open that serve coffee and cornetto but all the better, find them! I stuck with one cicchetti bar that was filled with locals, reasonabl, delicious and owner friendly. I usually found the quiet places you mentioned as I got lost but it was worth it! Beautiful city. I'll be back.

When I lived in Florence, as an Artist, I would always take one week to 10 days, to go & paint oils in Venice- always in The Fall- Late September was best! Few Tourists when it starts to get a little cold. These 2 Swedish girls on The Train, gave me the name of a place to stay- “ Ai BARi” not far from the Rialto Bridge. It was simple rooms with a shared bathroom but it was ok because I was never there!

I agree, most parts of Italy especially the touristic major cities it's best to visit during fall or winter or early spring but ofcourse without any options, Italy is a great place to visit

Exactly why we waited until late October and early November to go this year. 😳 Less crowds and cooler. 🍁🍂 I was stressed out for you watching this. 😆
Thanks for your great videos. 🌹🥰🌹🥰 I’m sorry you almost had your mic stolen. 😞 But it is showing the doubters that pickpocketing is very real. It happens in Barcelona too.
Lots of Love from California! Hope we run into you! 😃😄🥰😘

Hopefully when Venice finally starts requiring timed reservations, limiting the number and charging day trippers the crowds will ease.

Hey, thank you for the content. I was wondering how did you get to Venice if you did not get the vaparetto ? 😊

    • @DramaticallyExpatic
      @DramaticallyExpatic  Год назад

Vaporetto is a water tram that goes around Venice, you don't need it to get to the city - you can do it either by car or by train. And, once you are there, you can walk around and avoid taking the vaporetto unless you're going to the islands, although if there aren't too many people it could be a fun experience, too :)

Hy there! I can see why you hate the souveniers from eastern Asia. They are not locally poduced or in harmony with the surroundings. ( I graduated Art University, I should know). And we also should support local businesses for supporting the people living there.
However, keep on mind that Venice built its reputation over the centuries as a TRADE center for the mediteranean world, its wealth comes from trades with goods that are traditionally imported form as far away as the Venetian Republic could reach. The soul of its activities was trade with foreign goods.
Thank you for the great advices in this video!

August in Venice? Hell ... although still not one of the lower rungs. 😉 If I'm going during the warmer weather seasons, it's late May/early June or September only. Also, get off the main island.

@@DramaticallyExpatic It was an interesting experiment and to be honest July and August weren't this bad back 30+ years ago. Those tourist stands are a real eye sore compared to the beauty of Venice proper.

I didn't appreciate this negative from the start perspective on visiting Venice in August. The crowds and queues in your video didn't support your narrative. It's 2022 and travel is just beginning to return to normal, so there are not the crowds there were pre 2019. If you have such a vast knowledge of information, you should be pointing out how much better it is this year as opposed to pre Covid. It looks like you had a good time and went anywhere you wanted to go... what's the problem? I will not be subscribing to this channel. AND, the title, "What Is the Best Time to Go to Venice," is never addressed. Please don't produce other videos based on preconceived ideas of reality unless you've spent some time in the city before filming.
