  • An overview of various international and and other Indigenous Peoples Data Sovereignty statements and principles. This will lead to a specific introduction to a te Ao Māori perspective of what is Data, and an introduction to the Waitangi Tribunal claim that found Māori Data is a Taonga.
    Māori Data Sovereignty principles will be introduced and how Te Tiriti, He Whakaputanga and The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) articles and principles apply to Māori Data, and how these values and principles can be applied in health research to protect and respect Māori, Iwi, hapū and Māori groups customary beliefs and moral obligations.

    A leading authority and a highly accomplished visionary technology ethicist specialising in Māori rights with AI, Māori Data Sovereignty and Governance with emerging digital technologies and biological sciences.
