Did you know Primeape DIES when it evolves? How does it die though? What does Rage Fist do to it medically speaking? And just what is Annihilape supposed to be?

I always did wonder WHY using such a move would cause Primeape to not only evolve, but DIE EVOLVING and becoming a very overpowered ghost type.
Now, when you say “overpowered,” you ACTUALLY mean “perfect,” right?
At least ut doesn't end up getting a poncho and sombrero.... That is unironically a thing in Digimon
I mean I figured that the move rage fist would make it more angry when used so when it was used a ton of times it just got so angry it died.
It got so angry it died, but it was so angry it lived.

wow I didn’t know there was that many youtubers that did it that there was a name. I only have like watched 2 differently channels like that but they were very different. This reminds me of the one that goes super in depth to the cause and effect in the body and other medical stuff.
i always interpreted the broken shackles on annihlape's arms to be symbolic of it breaking free from its angry prison and finding peace in death. but perhaps it's more rather that the shackles simply cannot contain its anger, just as its own mortal body could not...
Could be both for all we know. It works out pretty well either way.
To me it's like Primeape unleashing its inner rage, so deep its chains and body cannot withstand the ammout of it. Resulting in Primeape dying of anger, and upon becoming Anihilape it never calms down, and it has spent so much time in this state that it found inner peace within its rage, hence being still able to stand up
@@farofa2843 i do still think its found some sort of peace with its own rage; for example, its ability “anger point” turns into “inner focus” upon evolving.
we can interpret the ghost typing as a vengeful spirit, but i’m beginning to think it’s meant to represent the spiritual power that arises from conquering anger. primeape was so angry that in order to live with that anger, it had to die - only then could it channel that anger into something constructive.
@@SuperEljafru Basically in a state of tranquil fury.
Yes that's what is implied in the pokedex and design, the shackles can no longer contain its rage
I love all of the potential freaky medical lore behind Pokemon. Especially Solosis. This genre of video's genius.
Shame to hear that Primeape had deathemia though, emia meaning "presence in blood" and death meaning "death."
Solosis is peak body horror material
Death meaning "death". Love that sentence lol. Reminds me of Floor is "floor"
The Greek prefix for "Death" is "Necro", last I checked. But your perspective works too.
To this day i "like" to believe the Solosis line is what a dead fetus gets reborn into, so it can reexperience life again.
(It doesn't have to be a fetus or a newborn, acctually it might be one of the many things any human or Pokémon can be reborn as. Reincarnation is a thing in Pokémon.)
High death presence in blood
I hope Chubbyemu sees this and smiles
Agreed
Fun fact: In Ireland we have a word called Manky, that basically means someone or something that is dirty, scruffy and/or messy, so for years I thought that Mankey was called that because of our slang
I don't think that word is exclusive to Irish because I'm American and we use that word too
@@selfloathinggameing sorry, I was unaware, I had never heard anybody outside of Ireland say it and, when googling it, it said it was an Irish term
@@coffeecartoons5345 to be fair Americans don't use it often
@@selfloathinggameing ah, ok. And now that I think about it, it makes sense as a lot of Irish people immigrated to the USA during the Famine
Working in the medical field myself I love how this was presented like a rare medical case study. All you’re missing is the auditorium filled with Pokemon professors and a Q&A session at the end
There's a channel that goes in deth for ER emergencies i've watched a couple videos there was one where a woman took an entire bottle of antacids to allow her to eat spicy foods

He even used the same song at the beginning of the video. 🤣

Oh my. Never heard of them. I associated the intro with Brew.
I legit squealed when I realized he was going to keep up the parody for the entire video. The impression is spot on! 😂
I absolutely CANNOT with this. This impression is incredible my dude. 10/10 homage to a true monolith of youtube.
Chubbyemu reference spotted.
I've read a theory that Annihilape is actually what happens when a Primeape DOESN'T die from being too angry. Primeape can only evolve after using a move that turns its rage into energy over and over again. And so, when it reaches that otherwise lethal rage, it knows how to release it as energy and survive.
Primeape died from myocarditis. Myo means muscle, cardi means heart and ditis means inflammation. The inflammation of the heart muscle. He was able to evolve from this illness and made a full recovery.
Thank you for watching. Take care of yourself and be well.
Oh Arceus 🤣🤣🤣
Ah yes, a typical case of ‘iraemia’
AA’s trainer forgot that ‘-emia’ means presence in blood
Mankey and Primeape have been my top 2 favorite pokemon all the way since the Primeape goes Bananas Episode of the original series.
I was so happy when they finally got their third stage evolution. It was always rumored and "leaked" for the last few gens ever since regional variants were introduced. Gen 9 is one of my favorite guns specifically for this ghost ape.
It's just icing on the cake that it is also OP for a ghost/fighting type
Fuckin real. I only wish the shiny was original color
Not only that, but Rage Fist got Annihilape banned from Smogon's OU tier - its standard mode of play. It helps that our angry ghost monke has the bulk to take the two or so hits it needs to turn Rage Fist into a 150 power move - which, by the way, does not decrease in power when the user is switched out or even if they faint and are later revived by Revival Blessing. It can run a Bulk Up set with Drain Punch, Rage Fist and either Taunt or Rest, and can run a Careful nature with 240 HP EVs, max Special Defense, and 16 Speed EVs.
Same.
I feel creeped out about that x-ray of Annihilape in the thumbnail. I never thought that it would be 100% skull 💀. Though, I guess it makes sense given its design.
I mean bettee then the fall guys route.......
Certified ChubbyEmu Moment
He should've commented something to this video 😂
Love the chubbyemu impression! Makes this video all the better!
I also wanted to add some of my own research into the Iberian origins of Annihilape. Interestingly, Spain’s Gibraltar is the location of the only living population of wild monkeys in Europe. They are Barbary macaques, which is relevant, as Mankey and Primeape are also partially based on Japanese macaques. These monkeys used to be significantly more prevalent throughout Europe and had lots of cultural significance to its people. Early civilizations gave them a sacred value, with images of Barbary macaques appearing in old tombs (thus Annihilape’s ghost type perhaps), and medieval Europe saw them being kept as high-value pets, often leashed onto heavy blocks or balls (maybe explaining Annihilape’s broken shackles on its arms; it’s been unleashed, so to speak). The most relevant interpretation for Annihilape is from the Greeks, who saw them as embodiments of the negative traits and vices of humanity (for example, anger). So, Annihilape is an angry ghost Barbary macaque that pulls from European history and how it treated the monkeys, and it’s in Paldea/Iberia because that’s where the last European population of them live today. It’s really perfect IMO.
Lockstin out here looking like a true Pokémon Professor 💯
And we thought Annihilape having Fire type moves might be a reference to various cartoon characters that are angry enough to produce flames
I was shocked when this one got a 3rd stage. Let alone getting ghost-type. That poor monkey. Becoming just a ghostly shell of its former self.
More like it’s so damn pissed that not even death can stop it.
It's not a shell of its former self, quite the opposite.
Better, faster, angrier, stronger.
@@nguyentandung42Transcendant Rage, is a great title for Annihilape, for obvious reasons
@Kyumifun it actually becomes slower, but the rest of this sentence is true
That was probably my favorite sponsor segment in any of these videos. Good stuff, good stuff all around.
Annihilape is my favorite of the Gen IX evolutions -- a very creative Pokémon based on a previous entry for Primeape. I appreciate the amount of depth you went into on the clinical rationale for how Rage Fist caused Primeape to die an evolve, and the story aspect you provided was a cool take on it too. I hope to have one on my team when I start a "Pokémon Scarlet" file next month.
I wouldn't be surprised if a new gimmick move would allow Annihilape to reference Akuma's "Raging Demon" technique
Isn't that just Close Combat?
Trainer: Annihilape, use close combat!
Annihilape: DIE ONE THOUSAND DEATHS!
Annihilape teleports to the wild lechonk and uses close combat.
Lechonk "fainted"
Y'know Lockstin, your commitment to the bit and presentation here were fantastic. Plus, it's a video about an absolute menace of early Gen 9 OU, so that's pretty cool too.
Friendly reminder that this will definitely be canon once ChubbyEspathra copyright strikes it!
Dang I got excited thinking it was a new chbbyemu video lmao
I love how if you actually pay attention to Annilapes face, it does appear peaceful and this is great video perfectly explaining how an annihilape evolves from Primeape
My grandmother has told me a story multiple times about how one of my great great grandfathers died. His cattle land was forcibly cut in two by the government so they could pave a road through it. It negatively affected the behavior of the cows, notably they refused to cross the road or go through the tunnel built under the road to accommodate them on their own, but they needed to go back and forth to access water at the creek. This angered him to no end until one day he fell over dead in his lunch from a stroke.
As a watcher of both you and chubbyemu, this is the funniest thing ever
2:10 except they do count as monkeys if you look at nested hierarchies/classifications.
But in that sense it also makes them fish, if you go far back enough.
I'm loving how faithful and committed this bit is 😭
Took me a minute to realize this notification wasn't for a chubbyemu video omg
We love a chubbyemu spoof.
Getting angry only makes me cry, I don't think I have anything to worry about
Anger and sadness are similar. Hence is why depression is called Anger turned inward. Burned out.
That’s what depression is. It’s your anger snuffed out leaving you tired since you used all your energy on being angry.
It got so angry it died, but it was so angry it lived.
Yeah seems more like a near death experience or one of those cases the person returns from the dead.
Ever since I saw Annahilape I always felt it was an amazing reference to the Ultra Instinct transformation of DragonBall Super!
Definitely one of my favorite Pokémon.
As a chubbyemu fan, I absolutely died laughing when I saw the thumbnail. We should have him react to this
Who would win in a fight? Annihilape or Hisuian Zoroark? Since those two are like incarnates of rage and hatred, it's gonna be a bloody fight for sure...
Zoroark is immune to both of Annihilape’s STABs, so it wins.
H Zoroark for sure, anhilape can't hit it stab
H zoro ofc. Ghost and Fighting can’t touch it
As far as a battle with only STAB goes, zoroark negs annihilape. Annihilape can't touch it, and zoroark has ghost STAB on annihilape
Monke beats twink
Saw the thumbnail and deadass thought chubbyemu did a bonus video on a weekend.
I'm not disappoint, though.
I love the med show parody you did, super funny and educational.
(Also, incredible series of puns with the sponsorship. Richard deserves a raise)
Can't wait for next gen where they introduce Asurape, a Poison/Fighting Pokemon which evolves by using the move Sura Fist 108 times and Lockstin has to explain drunk martial arts and the danger of alcohol on someone's liver
I see Annihilape and my brain goes ♪♫CRAWLING IN MY SKIN THESE WOUNDS, THEY WILL NOT HEAL♫♪
This video is a lowkey mental health session and as someone who gets annoyed bery often i definitely needed to hear this..
All the instances of going mad in the plots of Scarlet & Violet remind me of "Divine Madness" like Plato discusses in Phaedrus ~ I've got some new theories about this that I'm talking about on my channel 😊
Great video Lockstin & Gnoggin! The sponsor clip at the end made me lol 🤣
“During the autopsy, something strange happened. Before the body could even be studied, the body started to move again, and even stranger, it changed colour and grew larger. But how is this possible?
The Primape was confirmed to be deceased. It’s heart had stopped beating long ago. The rapid change in colour wasn’t some rapid decomposition, the scientists thought. No, this was something different. This, was evolution, something previously thought impossible for Primape’s.
With that, the Primape, now turned Annihilape, was no longer deceased. In fact it was very much alive, able to eat sleep, and move without any health issues. And thus the patient, even after death, was able to make a full recovery”
Mankey/Primeape have always been one of my favorites because of how they were depicted in the anime. That and in Pokemon Yellow I needed something to help me beat Brock.
I was pleased to see Gamefreak give it another evolution that breaks its limiter. We can be so much angrier in death with no body to hold us back.
Chubbyemu & Pokemon? Who would have thought. I'm loving this chubbyemu impression. What an awesome homage and video idea, works really well.
Great premise, great storytelling, great lore.
And even greater sponsor. I REALLY hope Johnson and SHEATH return in the future. That was a skit straight out of an R-rated Muppets knockoff
Imagine there being a regional evolution of Mankey that is focused on a different emotion such as love (MADly in love), fear (a MAD dash), or insanity (MAD with power/MADness+Magic+Sadness)
If Annihilape has a Mega Evolution, it would just be on fire and become a Fire/Fighting Type
Now that you bring up the Ether, can we talk about how Ether and Elixir are more common in Paldea than ever before?
I love the “cautionary tale” style video you did here! The name Annihilape is just perfect!
4:59 Insomnia is notable considering Primeape's ability, Vital Spirit, which prevents it from falling asleep.
As a Chubbyemu enjoyer, this is hilarious and spot on.
"I THINK MY PRIMEAPE'S DEAD!"
"No, it's alright. It just evolved."
I love the sponsor segment at the end, it's a genius way to advertise something RUclips normally wouldn't let you in a way that they totally would
I love the reference 🤣👏
LOL the title and video feels like a skit based on Chubbyemu, please don’t stop making these videos!
This is so funny oml, you should make more spoof vids like this
I love that you're trying to make something all the time and making a spoof of chubbyemu is the best
The fact that this is narrated like a Chubbyemu video is absolutely amazed!

...Only 1.13 Million? That's a lot.
This is a great style of video you should do more of these!
Breaking: Local ape too angry to live, too angry to stay dead.
This video captures the style of a chubbyemu video so well, it's great. I had my suspicions, seeing the title and thumbnail, then hearing the intro music at the start... its all so on point. And it just kept going.
Videos like this are some of your best. I find the research you present fascinating
Glad he made it out alive
This is a fantastic video! You rly got me invested in this tale of a trainer and mon!
It makes me wonder on what if a primeape was able to manage and control its anger to such extents
Maybe a branched evolution where he controls his anger and becomes a fighting/psychic type to show his control.
I adore how youre riffing on this video format. What a trip, top 10 work.
I can’t watch chubbyemu because 🎉anxiety🎉 but I want to watch them so bad.
This is perfect 😂
This was an awesome video, I was super invested with the presentation haha.
I love the style you used for this video. And once again, you've increased my knowledge of Pokemon and real life at the same time. 💙
Also, clever naming convention for that ad.

Did not expect you to commit to the chubbyemu parody to the very end, well done, sir
lol ChubbyEmu should know about this. I saw the title and clicked it and thought for a sec, like wtf, I thought ChubbyEmu did a video about a Gengar lover and now this, but then I thought that's weird I didn't get notified then I saw the channel lol. Great video.
