    The R188 closing door sounds like a R160 and a R179 sounds like a R142

      Yup! The r179’s doorchime actually sounds like both the R-142, and R-142A.

      The R142, R142A, R142S, R143, and R179 share a door chime and the R160A, R160B, and R188 share a door chime. I'm surprised they used the R160 door chime on the R188.

      Well explained. Though, I would correct you. The R-143 does not, have the door chime that the R-179, R-142, and R-142A share.

    I see and somewhat understand the "flashing" green as part of the CBTC operation. But what happens with respects to "home" signals located at crossover or diverging switch points? Do those signals still show green over yellow or yellow over yellow when switch points are set for a divergence? Or are those indications now deemed unnecessary under CBTC operation?? Just curious-lol.

    • @Alex_Campbell_MTA
      @Alex_Campbell_MTA  5 лет назад +1

      Interesting question. Well those signal lights still show the yellow over yellow. I’ve seen green over yellow. Sometimes it can be red. With CBTC, the Signals only blink green before a train is enters, and leaves the station as part of CBTC operation.

    Can someone explain to me what ATO is? Ik what CBTC is.

    • @Alex_Campbell_MTA

      ATO means - (Automatic Train Operation).

      @@Alex_Campbell_MTA what does ATO do for a train exactly?

    • @Alex_Campbell_MTA
      @Alex_Campbell_MTA  4 года назад

      JJ Clouty
      What ATO basically does for the subway is make trains accelerate and decelerate on its own with a push of a button. Helps trains run faster, all though there can be issues.

      It’s the beginning stages of eventually trying to automate the trains fully and get rid of employees so they can hoard and squander more money.

    I wonder why they have signals? London Underground CBTC has no lineside signals

    • @marcodamasio
      @marcodamasio 3 года назад

      Probably to be compatible with older trains without CBTC; in London, unfitted train can't run on the lines with CBTC, TBTC, DTG-R or other modern signalling systems in normal service

    Could the r262 be equipped with CBTC equipment when the r262 go to the 1,3 and 6?

    • @Alex_Campbell_MTA
      @Alex_Campbell_MTA  3 года назад

      The R262 will be made with CBTC. Thing is that they wouldn’t be able to use it unless the lines it’s getting assigned already has CBTC.

      They use CBTC.

    • @zeenoz7567
      @zeenoz7567 5 лет назад +2

      No the 7 line does not use ATO it only uses CBTC and it wouldn’t make sense for it because it only works underground. The 7 line is 83% above ground. Only the L train uses CBTC AND ATO but only in the underground sections so when the train gets aboveground the operator has to re takeover control of the train.
      Edit The 7 now Partially uses ATO, however the operator must control the Train Until the Last car leaves the station. The operator controls in yards and in the layup tracks

      @@Alex_Campbell_MTA I think it just the train speed right. The 7 train runs with ATO. It means the 7 line arrives at a station but the Train Operator just pushes a button to stop the train. The 7 line would go slow entering the last stop. I love how the train goes faster when leaving Hudson yards.

    • @Alex_Campbell_MTA
      @Alex_Campbell_MTA  4 года назад

      NYC TransitRailFan Agreed! That’s pretty much what happens with CBTC.
