- Produced in collaboration with Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman and Academy Award-nominated musician Karen O, and written and recorded explicitly for Rise of the Tomb Raider, “I Shall Rise” explores Lara Croft’s relentless journey as she tests the limits of the human spirit.
Inspired by Lara Croft’s adventure through a hostile world as she searches for the secret of immortality, “I Shall Rise” captures the gravity and cinematic presentation of Rise of the Tomb Raider, and marks Karen O’s first original song for a video game.

At the end of the game (which was perfect, btw), I would have expected some epic ass music but instead I heard this song and I just sat there in shock, realizing how this song is just so much better than a generic action music. It gives me goosebumps every single time I hear it and whoever had the idea to choose it is my new favourite person :)
I made a little challenge where I played the full game in one day and this music at the end was just perfect for me at this time :)

I loved the game, but to say the game's ending was perfect is a bit of a stretch.
*spoiler warning*
Jacob's death was rushed, the final boss was mediocre at best.
Like, the ending felt a bit like they HAD to finish the script under tight schedule. Because the rest of the game was beautiful; the story developped at the perfect rythm, level design was fantastic, and every corner was screenshot worthy. But the last 2h felt like a chore instead of a beautiful ride like the rest of the game.

Time proved you right, 6 years after I very much remember a lot of the game and I am eager to play again sometime, but I cannot for the life of me tell you how it ended 🤷♀️

The 2013 Tomb Raider game literally changed my life, crossing my fingers that this game will have the same affect.

+The Assassin First I first watched the game online and fell in love with it, however I couldn't play it because I didn't have a gaming system. Now that I have a laptop, I was able to buy and play the game. In other words, you can still enjoy a game without playing it.

I'd say that the song is very iconic for TR, because TR really rises again and again through the years - when TR seemed like it's lost it came back with Legend and after the trilogy was completed it came back with a reboot and many other side stuff - like brand new mobile games and other platforming games.
So TR is a symbol of unending rising.

I love this song. I love the emotion, the pain, the fight to come back from what ever I thought died within me. For someone such as myself who has given up my dreams of music to start a family and has sacrificed alot still has fight in this girl. It's never to late to rise up and live your dreams.

+N7 Spartan I got the Collector's Edition of this game, and I was absolutely captivated and deeply in love with the game before I'd even made it ten minutes in. It was definitely stunning, and had an awesome storyline. Plus, it had *perfect* graphics to boot! I completely agree with you.

I still go back from time to time to rewatch the commercial with this song in it. It has everything a gaming commercial needs to be epic and memorable. The commercial came out a few months after I beat Tomb Raider 2013 and I remember it made me SO hyped for Rise of the Tomb Raider. I wasn't as hyped for Shadow but it was still really fricking great. I can't wait to see where Lara goes next, assuming that a new Tomb Raider is being made. Camilla Luddington (Lara's voice and mocap actress) is apparently not reprising her role which sucks. She was at her peak in Shadow and she'd be perfect to continue being Lara, considering the next game is supposed to be an older Lara and they've both aged together. If the rumors are true, that there's supposed to be a bigger time skip (around 5 to 10+ years), then yeah, I guess it makes sense to get a new voice for Lara. I'll really miss Camilla.

I never played the old TR games back in the days and i decided to give it a shot by pmaying this modern day trilogy. All i can say is that the approx 200 hrs invested in this trilogy, is time well spent. I played TR once, ROTTR twice and SOTTR thrice. I have no clue at all as to what the story behind the older games in the series are about aside from tomb raiding and puzzle solving because they never appealed to me and thus didnt give a hoot about them. Again, all i can say is that the time it took me to finish the trilogy was definitely NOT a waste. Just yesterday i finished ROTTR again and now i am starting SOTTR. Again.

A lot of people i've met in the outside world only know who lara croft is because of the above statement. Now, I'm not saying that that was all anyone liked about her before the reboots, but what I am saying is that now that we know her backstory and that she isn't or wasn't always (depending on which one you prefer) a fearless, badass Jane Bond, she's more relatable. Her backstory and the story of how she came to be so badass and fearless makes her seem that much more real. and yes, the song is awesome :D did you see the scene at the end of the credits?

@@elizakohl8922 The original Lara also had a backstory. The same can be said for the second incarnation. The first Lara was also cocky, bold, sarcastic, a bit of a glory hound, but ultimately a great character, who is definitely not remembered just for her "big boobs". If we go that way we can say that the 2013 version is just "the angsty girl with serious daddy issues".

Recently played Rise of the tomb raider because I got it for free. Than I bought the 2013 one and the last one and my god they all were really cool. I'm sad I didn't get to play them before. Lara Croft are such good games.

Much like the top comment, I was left awestruck at like 3 in the morning when I finished this game probably sometime in 2020.
This is the best game of the trilogy for me, and my introduction to Lara Croft, so I may be biased.
But I can say without a reasonable doubt this track is excellent. I'll chalk down my tears to not smoking cigarettes for close to three days, (my brain is resetting chemically hence the enhanced emotions) I'm quitting again since October 2022 and I'm ready to be a non-smoker again.
