1:34 - That final Vialli goal was unreal - nutmegs first defender, turns the other defender inside out, rolls it under the keeper - this from a man used to playing in Italian sunshine.
That was a proper European tour on the way to winning the trophy. Eastern Europe for Slovan Bratislava. Up in Arctic Circle for Tromsø. Then right down to Southern Spain and Real Betis. Vicenza in Northern Italy in the semi's before beating Stuttgart in Stockholm. Nice little touch in Tromsø when they handed out commemorative chocolate bars to the visiting fans.
@@IndieVolken Clearly not at that time or they wouldn't have qualified for European football in the first place. Stuttgart finished 4th in the Bundesliga that season.
It's a paradox that the snow helped Chelsea. TIL (Tromsø IL) was much better before the snow. I took care of the journalists that day and I was talking to Trevor Brooking during the match, and he agreed with me.
You cant have highlights from this match without showing Mr Wise throwing a snowball in goal scorer Årst`s Face!!! ;)) He took it pretty well, he smiled when Wise told him "Sorry" hehehe;)) KTBFFH!
2nd half there were so many snowballs thrown (loosely packed snowballs without much speed).. I lobbed one at Zola, when the ball was out of play and he was standing still by the corner flag
I remember watching this game and it was pretty surreal. The snow got that bad to the point they kept having to stop the game to sort out the pitch markings. The conditions were certainly a leveller and were the main reason Tromso won this match. Chelsea's extra quality ended up showing in the 2nd leg.
RIP Gianluca Vialli, a magificent player.
Gianluca Vialli scoring in the snow is my memory of the great man. RIP
Ditto.
My favourite memory of him too.
R.I.P luca absolute legend. Remember watching this game on channel 5

He was born and played in Lombardy, which borders Switzerland and the Tyrol mountains. He was well used to cold and snow.

I loved that season
all shit teams though

Agreed. It's why I'm looking forward to the UEFA Conference League. Tromso have also qualified so fingers crossed for the rematch!
RIP Luca. A true legend
Rest up Vialli we love you 🙏❤
RIP Vialli. From an Arsenal fan.
Vialli showing crazy tech in the worst conditions possible!!! Mad 🙏🏾

thats not what a paradox is
I watching Itchy Boots - the lady traveling the world on motorbike, and she’s in Tromsø. And I remembered Chelsea played there once :-) So here I am.
This was a brilliant match & Vialli was so the man, absolute hero.
RIP Gianluca Vialli
Classic match that. Vialli at his finest stepping up to get the job done.
Eee lad, it were a mans game back then..................classic match, and despite the result one that will live fondly in the memory forever!
Grande Gianluca! Che show sulla neve!

I threw a snowball at Gullit myself in that game, that was fun hah
scarlace No, you really didn’t. Why do people have to lie so blatantly on the internet?

I came here for that moment. Sadly it's not been included. That was funny as hell, by Wisey.
Just love a snowy match ❄⛄
I remember this
That second goal the snow wanted us to score 😂

Somebody threw å snowball I belive? Who?
They were 2-0 up before the snow started ye dingus
Vialli, Vialli. I remember first seeing him in the 1986 Word Cup when he had crew cut.
They just talked about this on ESPN FC.
a memorable match, from a Liverpool fan.
Players were hard back then. They'd abandon this game today!
Not the same without the ridiculous Jonathan Pierce commentary..
_THE ICE MAN COMETH_
And Channel 5 static so you could barely actually watch the game
Rip Gianluca Vialli
Vialli artilheiro craque
So, since Tromsø scored twice before the snow began pouring, Chelsea actually won the snowball fight 2-1
Cometh the ice man
#rip KTBFFH
It's Snow Joke
Iceball 🎅
i’m a chelsea supporter and i live in tromsø norway.. ahahahah
Do you live then in Petersborggata? I always see a chelsea flag in a window there while waiting for the bus.
Chelsea FC Twitter brought me here 😂
why didnt we get to see Tromsø's goal two times?and the commentator fucking glorify Vialli and not the Norwegians.
