@@thomasknapp7236 , yes. I know it’s an old song and that Doc didn’t write it. But, Doc did record one of the most famous versions, and when he performed it live he talked about his love for his wife. She was his “Shady Grove.” Since Billy alludes to Doc fairly often, I was just saying that Doc would like Billy’s version, too. I didn’t intend to give any other impression.
Shady Grove was one of the last songs my dad recommended to me before he passed. I always loved Jerry's version but this.... Billy brought tears to my eyes
Im 70 yrs. Old. Bee n to alot of conerts in the 70s and every song he sings is just as good or beeter than the original a true intertainer . Hope i get a chance to see him. Don cali.
Thank you for keeping the old ways sacred. I can leave this world knowing that these traditions are in fine hands.
I'm 69 and Billy is singing songs that I heard my Mama sing when I was a youngun Great memories
I was waiting for 50 years to hear a better version than Quicksilver used to do with Jerry , It was worth the wait.
His guitar - sure, but to my ears, his voice gets better all the time.
Doc Watson would be so proud to hear Billy play this song. Bravo, Billy and band!
This is not a doc Watson song...but Billy's version is amazing.

💯/💯
A fantastic moment at a great Billy show.
Never heard it with these lyrics before
I don't think I've ever heard 2 people sing it with the same words it seems everyone has their own lyrics
Isn't this a Jerry standard? Where's grisman?
WAY older than Jerry. The earliest origins are in a 17th century ballad, but the current version was first documented in 1915.
Cover RUSTED BED by songwriter Dennis Callahan
I HATE plugged in acoustic guitars! Well, there are not of course acoustic but some plastic sounding monstrosity! Billy! Have you no taste!
