I dunno why, but I can listen to this man talk about movies for hours, maybe it's his passion, but I fucking love the behind scenes shit like this. In general, everyone stands to benefit if people pay more attention to the whole process of movie making, rather than just enjoying end product.
I don't want Ridley Scott anywhere near any future Alien projects. Blomkamp would have been an excellent choice, and I would have loved to see his vision portrayed in the Alien universe.

I'm sure Blomkamp would've directed a great film, but he essentially used fan pressure to force his way into a project while there was already one ongoing. Obviously Scott would feel disrespected by such a move.

Then he fucked up his own movie anyway and didn't give us the planned Paradise Lost film. If I could go back in time and have any movie made, it would be Blompkamp's Alien 5. If we even got an animated short or something, I would be happy with that.
Luke is such a cool guy. From wrestling to his film passion. Id ask me he went to film school if he didn't make this channel other then wrestletalk. Could be filmed in the same building as wrestletalk.

I've always felt that Covenant was a cynical attempt to pivot and move back toward an 'Alien' film because the fan reaction to Prometheus. And, lets be honest, it was dreadful. It's a real shame Blomkamp's film never got made as it's pretty clear (even if it didn't turn out great) that it would stuck very close to the lore and the first two films - which is ultimately what fans wanted. I've not seen Romulus yet but I'm pretty confident it would have been better than that, as well Alien 3 and Resurrection.
If the next Alien movie is a grand finale to Ripley's and David's story arcs, it would make gangbusters. Not to mention that this would be the first time Weaver and Fassbender are on the same screen.

Prometheus is a hard trash heap. Not only did it almost kill the IP but is a self indulgent mess. Ridley began the franchise but is now running it into the dirt.

Ripley and Hicks teaming up to engage in corporate sabotage would seem the natural way to conclude the series and end with them successfully making the Alien an extinct species. Everyone is too old now anyway so be happy two great movies exist.

Ridley Scott being incredibly precious about the Alien franchise is odd as he doesn't seem to understand what made that first movie excellent. Like...at all. Then again, I actually think Alien Resurrection is incredibly watchable, if not...you know, still pretty bad.

To be fair to Ridley Scott, Alien 5 sounds a lot like the fifth Bourne movie, where just about everyone criticized it for not doing anything except actively trying to ignore the plot of the last movie. Not saying this would have even been the case for Alien 5, but it felt a lot like the Jason Bourne film. Made by the original director, for Matt Damon's send off, as a love letter to the fans. Huge difference is that Scott wasn't making this film, but the rest matches. If he saw the writing on the wall, I can't fault him for trying to block Alien 5 from happening. Then again, this is just a hot take. Until we get the script for Alien 5, I'm just playing devil's advocate. It could very well turn out the movie would have been a masterpiece and Scott was just salty. We should petition to get the script released. Kind of like how people petitioned for the Snyder Cut of JL.

Who Killed Aliens 5, well its pretty well known that it was Ridley Scott. He came out with the idea and brought the scripted to the studio. He even had the original cast from Cameron Aliens on board for this. But sadly the studio came to believe Scott was the sole reason for Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett 1979 Alien. So they gave him to much power and say on other peoples (ie Blomkamp) Alien projects until his so called 3 "Alien" films were made. So it was put on hold for so long that it was just dropped altogether cause of freakin' Scott. Listening to the crap Scott said about Alien 5, and just the over all crap he original said about the Alien franchise when he came back. Like he said in a interview that he didn't like Cameron's Queen idea, or anything that came after the first film and doesn't consider them canon to "his" film. He considered the Alien died, and wanted to move away from what the franchise is and focus solely Synths. Yeah, this really sounds like a guy who should be in charge of the Alien Franchise. Scott did use H. R. Giger's Space Jokey (which he sadly turned into a space suit) and the Derelict for the first film. Even those there was some Xeno designs like the Queen on the wall and Facehugggers, which I believe were also H. R. Giger's. Scott tried to dumb down the more Xeno like designs. Like originally when Holloway was infected his head was suppose to be in the shape of a Xeno, but was changed it to what it became. The ending with the Deacon was a type of origin story for the Xeno with it being reveal that David was their creator. But since the first film bombed, the Studio had him add and actual Xeno and Eggs to his second film. And according to the official film book that kept the stuff that was removed or changed, the Eggs were already there and David just found them. But as we know Scott changed it to David made the Eggs and the Eggs and the Xeno weren't seen till the end of the film. This new movie takes place between the 1 and 2 of the original films, so I'm hoping they'll leave any hints of Scott's last 2 movies out. I think the director even said he didn't like that the Xeno was created recently and by Synth. So if true, and even though Scott is a producer, I hope they kept him away from their project.
So glad he didn't get his hands on the franchise. I will never understand the hype around him. He's never made a movie in are about. District 9 is mediocre at best and the rest of his filmography is a throw away.
