It's interesting to see how you built each stage of the van! I'm watching your video's as time permits so I'll get caught up on your channel. Wow, it's a lot of work to do a van conversion and much to think about in each stage. In response to the holes you drilled in the floor: it reminded me of trying to hit studs in drywall. Even with a stud finder it's hard to know exactly where the edge of the stud is located. I use a stud finder to get the general location and then use a tiny drill bit to locate the exact edge of the studs. Then I drill the larger holes for whatever I'm doing. Looks like you were able to patch the holes real well though. Good job!!!
Like the videos, guys! Excited that you pulled the trigger and went in for this. I’m getting my van this coming year, and it’ll be for work on the road for my business. It’ll be a little work hub (photographer). I’ll be living in it 4-8 months a year. Also surfing along the way 🤙🏼 In 2015 I bought a 35’ vintage schoolbus, and spent 2 years creating a home & 5 years living in it. The sun floor was something I had to engineer myself, as absolutely ZERO bus builds I’d seen had my specific type of floor that was original to that bus model. I hope this build treats you well…builds like this are a constant ebb & flow, give & take, and compromise on time, expenses, and dream vs. realistic outcome. Keep it up!!
Awesome video! To the point and great tips. Not as expensive as I thought either. Especially for an extended van. How did you seal the gap between the floor and the van? I've heard the spray in foam causes squeaks.
Thanks for the encouraging feedback! Honestly, we haven’t sealed the gaps between the floor and the walls yet. We heard spray foam was a good idea, but if what you’ve heard is true, I’ll try something else. Maybe a silicone caulking? (Although that could add another $100 to the total pretty quickly). I’ll update you when we seal it up!

I'm so glad I saw this! Super helpful. You should name your van Casper the Commuter, aka Casper. When you name you gotta let us know.
I love that idea!
Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🏽🙌🏽
