Cory and master breeder dean are doing some major renovations to the urban fish farm. All the mini ponds against the wall are going to the Aquarium Co-Op retail store to house pond fish like ricefish, goldfish, and koi. Then they're building two new cinder block racks to house customer aquariums that are 24" x 30" x 12" in dimension.

*What project do you think Cory is planning for these new cinder block racks?*
plant and lights. one tank for each plant to show how to grow them and compare things. Demo tanks so to speak for the new lights, but I think it's what you had planned on the left side of the fish room that is now on the new racks.
Plants that are easy-ish to grow and farms can't/don't produce enough of. Less maintenance than most fish and a ready to go market with clients.
Plants
Obligate aquatic plants (cannot be grown emersed) to supplement the store.
Or maybe plant conversion tanks to demonstrate what it looks like when plants go through the conversion process.
Never done before? Cory is going to try and breed Sulawesi shrimp. He's said a few times he's had them but never successfully bred them
Love it when Dean shows up
DEAN IS THE GREATEST FISH GUY OF ALL TIME!!!!!!
I'm happy that you two have each other. It's hard to find a friend here with the same enthusiasm about the hobby. I have always loved your fish room over the years. Can't wait to see the new stuff. And like you said, a good coat of paint and those racks would be almost invisible!! People are going to look at what's in the tanks, not what's holding them.
Are you doing a saltwater wall???? You said it's something you don't do and that's all I can think of that you haven't done really. Or maybe brackish in the middle...
Old man tool doing the job 😁
Happy you are getting back to the basics. Tip for anyone looking for used cinderblocks - also search under CMU, which is short for Concrete Masonry Unit - the formal name for cinderblocks. @Aquarium Co-op I would like to know what grade lumber you are using for this stand?
Videos with Dean are so fun
U need a playlist just for videos Dean on!!!what a great friend having around👍🏼
Thank you for this enjoyable video! 😊
I think it’s time dean writes a book 😮
Thanks for sharing with us your new construction!
LOVE THIS VIDEO AND THE EFFECTS ON IT!!!! 1000%
Always fun to watch. Thanks for sharing
Dean is DA MAN !!’
Thank you for this fantastic content! Great video!
I love the old racks, i use IT myself , not a handyman but the Blocks is easy to do and strong
Dean is a mood! 💚
"You have all sorts of time!" 🤣 perfect 🐠🐟🐡
Oh my gosh the perfect pleco tank does exist! haha
Dean is awesome I love his work neat work clean looks awesome
Hey Cory. I hope you enjoy the new build! Seriously would love to see you enjoy the hobby again.
I love the batman/aquarium co-op transitions!
Looks good
Nice video buddy
Buy roll-y chairs for your guests with cup holders, so they can relax and look at the fish.
Look like shrimp and moss tanks.
At 8:12 there is a huge gap between the board and the block in the upper right side.
Dean makes everything better
Cool!
I would love to see one or two oversized totes with some crypts, valisnaria, bolbitis and maybe different clumps of anubius on some hard scape! I know that you didn’t have the best success with the last ones so I’m guessing it’s a long shot but I think that would be stunning with some mutt guppies or ricefish!
Shell dwellers would be great and fun to watch
Get Dean some Sonic ASAP!!!
Don’t downsize!!!!! You’re room is awesome!!!!!
I'm like cool the Sunday vid came out. Look at thumbnail sees Dean drops what I'm doing and watchs
I can't believe I forgot you sell bulkheads! I paid SIXTEEN DOLLARS for 1/2" bulkheads at home Depot for a recent project. Stocking up on yours for sure!!!
This was my plan for a tank stand eventually when I get a bigger tank
based on the color of the wood, I think those are spruce which should help resisting humidity and moisture problems. Spruce is often used in wooden ships and boats.
I like that tank rack and tanks, although I think I would want tanks. I'm going to say breeding lots of shrimp and live-bearers to supply the store.
I wish I had a dollar for all the RUclipsrs I’ve seen with these stands and almost all of them give Cory/aka Da Coop the credit. Pretty cool idea for those wanting multiple tanks.
Many people did the same in the 70's, but we did it because we were poor. : )
@@chia_pet7121 I hear that! In the early 80’s I kept Oscars, Convicts,and Jack Dempsey’s.
I went to yard sales and bought tables, dressers or whatever to hold what I thought were my massive 55 gallon aquariums with undergravel filters. : )
I would use that new setup for Corydoras breeding, but I’m guessing it’s for livebearers or shrimp.
I always worry that the cinder blocks will tip over.. :) looks awesome.. I am doing similar for the bettas, but will have way less weight.
👍😎 I remember when you built those stand’s. You’ve come a long way from then. Who would’a think it. Planning?…. Pleco’s
Was that the "bite1" sfx from feeding frenzy at 1:00? if so lmao, played so much as a kid!! And I'm so excited yall are bringing back the cinderblock setup!!
Hello, what kind of totes are they? Thank you for sharing the build.
DIY! DIY! DIY!
Ok, perhaps I am just knit picking. Why not have a print out for “Aquarium Co-op”, standard used “Block and plank, aquarium room constructs! AKA Mechanics illustrated Ed. Showing dimensions of planks, center points. All of course as illustration to the “home Fishroom builder”. Sell it for 1-$3.50. 20 gallon version, 30 gal. version, and 50gal.. 4, 6, 10, and 12 tank set ups!
(Separate pamphlet for plumbing!
I think it's an emersed plant farm to act as a test for possibly starting your own plant farm
In Dean we trust. He will forgive our sins and lead us home
Well I’d do a pool table cuz I love pool. But the humidity would be bad for the cloth.
Then my next thing would be a large floor-level water feature/pond/fountain. But I know that just more water haha
Tall pub style tables would be nice to be up high enough to snack, talk, and look down into the pond totes and not be staring up into lights on the tanks
Well, pub style tables and a slouchy couch to collapse in when you're exhausted.
Good luck
As a west coast carpenter the idea of a sizeable earthquake hitting this rack is pretty scary. Hope nobody's near it.
I think you’re going to try and breed your own line of guppies
Never enough tanks
Are those boards construction grade? If so, they are probbaly case kiln dried, where just the outer most is dry, but it still could be wet inside.
Maybe this is a dumb question, but is there any concern that the bottoms of the tanks aren't completely supported (because of the gaps between the boards)? I had been led by the internet to believe that if the bottom of your tank isn't 100% on a flat surface that it's a risk of breakage, but reddit isn't exactly the best source of information so I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Love the setup, by the way! I always thought the totes seemed like they would be too hard to see the fish in (especially with floating plants) so I'm excited to see how the new tanks turn out!
well it depends. A glass tank is at risk of getting cracked from the bottom if there is an uneven surface as it leads to uneven distribution of pressure at the bottom. Its usually a good idea to place your tank on a single sheet of foam to play it safe.
@@hammad3180 yeah if it's a flat bottom glass tank then it needs smooth even surface underneath, but if it's a rimmed aquarium you can generally support it with four level supports, one on each corner
(if it's a bowfront the whole curved front needs a support)
@@WowCoolHorse 💯
I wouldn't put pinball and other machines next to fish. especially with the noise and the constant vibration. that's just tormenting the fish. There was a few studies I was reading from a researcher in California specifically on fish and noise. it's something I've been trying to incorporate into my setups as a result.
I would have something that is big, but with nano fish. a massive pond with a window with a ton of barbs.
Cory do you ever do anything?
when's the new store extension opening? :)
You know I tried to get Dean to put this much work into my fry system but I failed, he must like your or something. 😜
it is for fish collected on next Peru trip
Will that top rack eventually bow due to the weight of the tanks in the middle of the top rack?
Would this be suitable for 3 40 breeders the long way on each side. Top and bottom using 2x6
💕👍
Whats going on with Deans new house? Is he making a new fish room?
Something that might be cool is a tide pool like tank that they have at children’s museums. What I mean by this is a really long and wide tank, but a little bit shorter so it could mimic the shallows or a lake or swamp. I think it could be a unique idea as maybe you view it from above more often than other tanks.
Breeding racks
🐠👍
You're looking to do something different, I know you've kept monster fish in the past but that's something you haven't done in a while. It might peak your interest. The tanks would also be large so thats less tanks. Just an idea
What do you estimate the max weight or tank size is with this kind of setup?
Whatever the floor is rated for although I'd add another middle support first.
I know it's probably been answered before but what are the totes called I want a few for my fish room.
Hey Cory. How much did those totes from DACO cost?
I believe they were like $220 each.
Do you have a link where you got the fake plants in Elmers tank??
Shrimp!
Guess is to breed Cories.
You guys should open accounts at plumbing supply wholesalers, rather than having to worry if Home Depot or Lowe's will have what you need in stock (which they rarely do).
Could a cinder block stand handle a 75g?
Yes, a cinder block stand can easily hold the weight of a 75 gallon tank if setup correctly. I have them supporting multiple 75s and even a 90 gallon tank in my fishroom. ~ Zenzo
Hey Z, thxs for the reply. I thought your big tanks were wood stands, I'll relook at your videos to see how you done it.
What's the best technique for placing the blocks with the 19.5in wide/ breeder 40g & 75g tanks?
Can I get Dean to come help me too
I have 180 gallon and stand for sale
Looks like corals are coming …… lol
L-numbers pleco breeding!?
I still cannot believe how expensive those totes are. Ridiculously priced.
Should have gone for hot pot
Can dean just do his own videos?! He’s my fave lol
Tell dean to ease up we don’t want to lose that Brian 😢
LOL, you name Home Depot, where you didn't buy the lumber, but never name the place you got the better wood from.
E and E lumber. In general it doesn’t help people when I name a local place. I’ve even had local places complain cause the internet will call them a ton for information with no intention of buying :(
Where is this? Is this at Cory's house?
Yeah my fish room.
Making profit on sales from that building yet?
Oh i think you are going to propagate plants, just my guess.
Careful with games. Balls vs glass yikes
Yeah that's a big negative here. You guys build one of the most beautiful fish rooms on RUclips then F it up with ghetto blocks for fish racks? No... what's next? Walmart pool ponds? April's fools is next year- please build an actual respectable rack for this addition.
Sounds like you need to keep your opinions to yourself
No kangaroos around Dean's fish room. : ( 🪃 🦘
