Sounds about right; docs and other people who know better should be more caring with our aging population. Eating a healthy diet is a basic human right that isn’t realized across our society, even globally. Sad, but at least big food, big pharma, big med are all financially benefiting. It’s the american way.

My dad went through the long decline of dementia. The only time that he improved consistently and significantly was the six weeks he refused to eat, and was on water only. An 'n of 1', but it made a huge impression on me. So frustrating was the constant pressure from the nursing home staff to feed him those sugar laden meal replacement drinks. Even in his demented state, his body knew what he needed better than they did. Too late for him, but hopefully, the diet changes I have made for my family will mean we won't have to meet this end.

I thought my mother's brain fog was from the cocktail of Opioids and other pills. But, the more I learn about Type 3 the more it seems that was the prevailing reasons. The pills didn't help though.

I've been involved in high tech for 40 years in high functioning jobs(I'm 65), and just wasn't as sharp as i used to be. I even went so far to start seeing a Dr, and get a WAIS IV test to see where I was. I also have 1 APOE4 gene. But in March or so, I realized how much weight and ill health my love of sweets, and daily cola habit was hurting my health and longevity. So, I changed my life style. I started intermittent fasting, and cut out most sweets, and lost over 30 lbs from my stomach, started exercising. Now I still eat to many sweets, but far less than before, and I'm working to be better. And now I have a better reason. I had heard about Type III before, but this was a good reminder. Thanks!

It would be nice to get a glucose monitor, but all of the videos say pretty much the same, sugar spikes insulin. I do take berberine, which should help, but... I also now take a lot of different supplements, typical vitamins C, B, D, zinc, mg L-Threonate, 3 different Nad boosters, nmn, gly-nac, and Niacin, hmb, dhea, Taurine, quercetin, and a hgh booster. I feel like they help, but again, I don't know if they really do. Good luck on your journey!

This is why we have an obesity and type 2 diabetes epidemics even in the military, affecting our readiness. There's so much money involved and corruption on the guidelines panel now that it will never be turned around from the top.

But providing patients with healthy food is expensive and cuts into the facility’s profits. Nursing homes like hospitals are run by accounts looking to maximize profits and minimize costs. What better way to do that then by feeding patients garbage? It’s keeps the nursing homes full, keeps the profits rolling in, keeps the shareholders happy. No better investment opportunity then the nursing home industry and let’s not forget the state subsidies to be pocketed!

200% true. Been fighting with my father because of this. Even as little as eating a tablespoon of coconut cream (ketones) daily can help reversing dementia (or shorten "thinking time"). Just take action in time, build some (reasonable) muscle, don't snack, and they'd be golden.

Well there's logistics. You have to consider whether people can digest it, and the junk food mainly takes a lot less skill to cook. Eating well, especially good seafood is sometimes cheaper or at least even, but takes some finesse to do right. That makes it a little tough given the high turnover, but I do agree there's some backroom deals. A chef a while back made a big push for schools to start cooking fresh and the manufacturers plus some employment people freaked.

Hey Mike, thank you for this video. I believe that diet is only part of the problem when it comes to addressing diabetes and brain fog. Back in 2018, I was jabbed( never again, I've learned my lesson) because I had aspirations of working in the medical field. After that, I had a "roller coaster" of problems three of which were brain fog and symptoms of high blood pressure and pre-diabetes. What I found to be effective at fixing this issue was heavy metal chelation. The first time I took dmsa, it was like my brain was turned on for the first time in my life. This was also true with edta. After that ,my body started to return to normal Additionally, my theory on why dementia and diabetes are on the rise are due to the combination of heavy metals in the body mixed with higher emfs exposure. I guess I will stop right there... But thanks again for all that you are doing. I just started reading the book Lost Connections and absolutely love taking dhea which I learned from your videos.

    • @diamund223
      @diamund223 7 месяцев назад +1

The difference is fiber. Fruit has it, slowing down absorption and there’s a natural amount of sugar (unless GMO). Twinkies do not have fibre, or a negligible amount and have an unnatural amount of sugar, hence cause ridiculous spikes.

You'll be hard pressed to find the studies. Alzheimer's research is mostly driven by the demand for a magic pill. Chris Palmer and Georgia Ede both have great work discussing the benefits of keto for mood and cognition. In the nearly 13 years I spent guiding my mother through Alzheimer's on keto, and the 7 I rode shotgun while we cared for my father without using keto, it matters. Falling off the wagon, even if only for a couple of days, would turn my mom into the cranky, bitter, losing Cowboys fan in a no time. A Weekend off the wagon would lead to a week of struggle for her, and in us as well. We eventually landed on a higher, more protein centric keto (almost ketovore) with my mother. Even up to her death, she was exceptionally strong.

Regarding T1 leading to T2: could it also be concluded that T2 could lead to T1?
To me this makes more sense; that the increased production of insulin (uncontrolled insulin resistance) progresses to T2, eventually overworks the pancreas, and results in production of insulin decreasing or ceasing all together, resulting in secondary T1.

The moment I eat carbs, I get instant brain fog and tiredness, and that's why I still eat carbs, but only to sleep, they at least help me to feel very tired and sleep, (And to fill my muscle glycogen for use for the next day) but for something productivity or hard mental work? No thanks!

For your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And honour your parents. If one or both of them reach old age in your care, never say to them ˹even˺ ‘ugh,’ nor yell at them. Rather, address them respectfully.
And be humble with them out of mercy, and pray, “My Lord! Be merciful to them as they raised me when I was young.”

Executive function is better in those who consume moderate alcohol. Many studies showing this.
“Moderate, Regular Alcohol Consumption is Associated with Higher Cognitive Function in Older Community-Dwelling Adults”
“These findings suggested that low to moderate alcohol drinking was associated with better global cognition scores, and these associations appeared stronger for white participants than for black participants.”
Moderate drinkers also have fewer car accidents than tea-totals.

High fat diet can also cause insulin resistance. It depends on the individual, low carb is definitely not good for everyone.
Edit: "From a physiological point of view, one of the most important links between the high-fat diet and insulin resistance is the gut-liver axis and the factors released from intestinal and liver metabolites, which mediate a bidirectional communication between the intestines and the liver. The gut-liver axis is impaired following consumption of high-fat diet."
You've got to understand that youtube gurus like Eric Berg, Thomas DeLauer and Jason Fung drastically oversimplify topics (like insulin resistance) for the benefit of their audience which consists largely of laypersons.

Wrong. High fat does not spike your blood sugar whatsoever. I don't know where you're getting that info but you don't have to take my word for it. Get a continuous glucose monitor and see for yourself. Eat fat by itself and watch what happens on the CGM.
