Well, it does matter. Weight lifting is the one exercise that strengthens our bones. That really matters as we age. Most elderly people break bones at least once as they age. The nurses tell me they are a lot of elderly people in hospital after they fall and break their hips and arms. Weight lifting has the power to prevent that.
I worked in a nursing home have seen mid sixties and seventies look like her. Also my roommate is 60 and has very aged skin in the face but her body is great.
I love you, Edith! I'm coming on 64 and started powerlifting nearly 3 years ago. I love it. The pandemic hasn't helped but I so want to do a competition, on my bucket list so to speak, to participate for fun. Sadly there are not so many women my age who like to do this in the UK (it seems). All the competition entries are mostly much much younger (and stronger) but I just want to experience it and challenge myself!
Awesome! Love that when she said after her accident she asked the dr when can she go back to lifting, and he told her “no no no, that is done”...she never went back to that doctor! 😂
2:05 injured back, doctor tells her no more weightlifting anymore, they set you on a sedentary path which is what steals years off your life She didn’t go back to that doctor, kept her desire and goals alive and looked fo those who could help her get there
no more weight lifting lady, just go sedentary and keep coming back to me once a month i'll prescibe you some pills (that'll slowly/SOFTLY kills you, muhaha i dont care as long as you get addicted to it it's money for me!!) that'll ease your symptomps. and that very doctor for some reason is borderline or.. is obese. tldr theyre the best at suppressing symptomps but worst at prevention for their own gain $$$
Elaine LaLanne, the widow of the Godfather of Fitness, Jack LaLanne, turns 95 this month and she is in great shape both physically and mentally. She posts on Facebook all the time.
She looks much younger than 97 years old. When my great grandmother was 90 years old, she can barely walk. But this grandma can still lift the weight. I hope I can be fit as her when I am growing old.
Inspiration. You ladies are the people I look up to and plan to follow. I'm in my 50s and back being the gym rat I was before my back went out years ago. Back surgery fixed it and since then I've turned my health trajectory around. I feel better now than I have in years and never plan to stop. Age is just a number! 💪
How often do you go the gym. And how long are you lifting there. I started a year ago. I love it. I go twice a week. Now overhead lifting,80 kgs and deadlift,56 kgs, ❤
damn, She's good at health than everyone who doesn't exercise and will get weak with age. Same with my grandma was not able to walk with too soft muscle. That's warning about age without exercise.
She definitely won't be in a nursing home I bet the nursing homes hate her in her hometown because they won't be getting her money so you go girl you go you're truly an inspiration!!!!!
she def looks 20 years younger than her actual age...inspiring when she could make every excuse or even valid reason to not lift...but yet she was gettin it done
most seniors watch 8 hours of tv per day with little to no exercise...she is spending her time working on something else...something that empowers her and something that is strengthening her body and mind. She is a great example to those of us in our 60's who are fighting that mindgame!! Geezers of the world UNITE...no excuses do something...anything!!!
Doesn't matter whether it's yoga, crossfit, martial arts, or lifting heavy, there's always a benefit to exercise at any age.
Facts!
What you put into your body goes along way as well

@@victorsaltos5678 yes, of course. We have the power to heal our bodies with the foods we eat.
She looks amazing at 97. Incredible what staying fit can do for you
and still so well spoken
Yeah, her eyes are so bright for her age!
I agree! She is an inspiration.
Staying fit and roids.
Incredible, living proof you are never too old to exercise and experience the benefits in body and mind.
Soul ,mind and body
LMAO....'that's the last time I went back to that doctor'....this lady rocks
97?! If I didn't know any better I'd say she looks mid sixties max. Well done to her, she's obviously doing something right! 👏👍💪
She looks great, but let's not push it... hehe. I'd say more like mid 80s.
I worked in a nursing home have seen mid sixties and seventies look like her. Also my roommate is 60 and has very aged skin in the face but her body is great.
@@Neophema she definitely looks like she's in her sixties, my dad is about to hit 70 and they look comparable
@@Neophema nah my grandma is 74 and she looks like the woman in the video.
I would guess 77 - 82 but still, no way does she look almost 100!!
The fact that they have been together for 65 years is truly beautiful.
This is very inspirational, at 54 and still going the gym I now feel like a 'youngster' again compared with this lot!
I love you, Edith!

Go for it! I’m interested in pursuing powerlifting, being of a certain age too.
Bora! Garota!
Great work.Keep pushing for a competition there in the UK, and plan to come for the Tampa Bay competition.

I admire your strength and determination. I am 65 and doing power lifting like you since 2021.
Yes, you're never to old to get in to powerlifting! 💪

yeah she dose look much younger then 97. I would think she was joking with me if she said she was 97. Sometimes old people exaggerate thier age.
👱🏻♂️U WONT GRANDPA JUST SIT IN THE ROCKING CHAIR.
Congrats to Her for believing in herself and for being such an Inspiration
She’s delightful! Love her insights.
Love this, more power to them!!!

Your never too old to hit the gym, get strong and kick butt 💪
That is one of the most awesome things I’ve seen in fitness in a while. Now those are fitness influencers!

i love this trend, senior citizens taking up weightlifting/ power lifting or other difficult and intensely physical sports e.g combat sports
thank you for this inspiring material
What an inspiration!!
💙💙You are so inspiring!!
If she at that age says "I recommend it" she knows what she's talking about
Don't let people tell you that life is over after age 70. We still have alot to learn about the human body and its limitations.
Gives me hope that I'll still be able to lift later in life - great video!
Love this and thanks so much for sharing ❤️
Respect 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👌🏾
When grandma finds your bullies.
Wow 97 and she looks with vitality.
That is absolutely amazing.
Amazing .Huge respect

Through my 31 years living on this planet, I've never seen a grandma to do this 3:50 🤣
This is cool
She definitely won't be in a nursing home I bet the nursing homes hate her in her hometown because they won't be getting her money so you go girl you go you're truly an inspiration!!!!!

This sentence killed me :D
Her last name is "Traina", lol, very apt.

She is a beast 💪🏿💪🏿🔥🔥💯👑👑💪🏿😍😻🤩👏🏿
Sooo very inspirational.
Wow amazing!!!!!!!!!
Amazing
This is awesome 👌🏽. They should get together with Ernestine Shepherd!
Amazing. If a 97 year old woman can weightlift and stay in shape, what is stopping many of us?
one word...awsom
Were older and all our docs always say don't do weights don't do the juicer. They want us to be sick. There's no money in all of us being healthy
She have a pair of guns.
she def looks 20 years younger than her actual age...inspiring when she could make every excuse or even valid reason to not lift...but yet she was gettin it done
