  • Chronicles of Riddick is an underrated film rich with action and meaning. One of my favourite scenes of the film is the death of the Purifier. Missing from youtube in its full context. Here it is! We all began as something else.

The Purifier was a character that always intrigued me. His name itself "The Purifier" is a high ranking title in the Necromonger army, second-in-command to the Lord Marshall. Ranks in this army means strength, with the Lord Marshall being the strongest. So this means that the Purifier is also a very strong warrior. Add to the fact that he's Furyan would make sense of this.
It's a shame he didn't team up with Riddick. I have a feeling they would've taken on the whole army.

However, Riddick did not just discover another Furian, but a man who came back to his true self in the end, a man who encouraged Riddick to go after the Necromongers, and willingly braved the literal fires of hell like a badass. That made this experience more than worthwhile for Riddick. The Purifier showed just how strong Furians are. Never give up, fight to the end.

Its all the more ironic that actor Linus Roache bears a striking resemblance to Rutger Hauer, I think many can agree.

They didn´t have enough money for more expanded universe, aka Underverse. But it´s definitely planed to make a movie which takes place in the Underverse because in the director´s cut of Riddick (the third movie) there´s the very final scene where Riddick kills Krone (The Guy with Fucked Up Face) in the Necro spaceship and then he looks through the big round window into the Threshold of the Underverse in front of the ship.

Just watched the Director’s cut which I think improved it overall but some of the extra early included scenes give too much away about Riddick’s heritage too soon. But you could tell that once they excised that they felt the need to excise everything tied to them like the scene where he has the vision and gains Furyan energy to repel Vaako’s kill shot on Crematoria. Enjoyed getting some more scenes between Karl Urban and Thandie Newton. They should have waited until they either had the budget or the resources to continue in the vein of Chronicles. The 3rd movie was ultimately a waste of time.

I think the leather also helps him at first to walk as if nothing had happened. we can see that he has leather pants and a long leather coat. leather can withstand high temperatures and a good time in the fire. his head starts to burn while his leather pants are not damaged, withstand well and protect his legs. if he had closed his long leather coat, leather would have withstand a little longer and better protected his body. he would have walked further without falling. I wondered why he wears so much leather.

He killed himself as a Furian instead of as a Necromonger, while assuring Riddick would have the chance to face the Lord Marshall@worlds
I swear there is either a line or scene that heavily implies he voluntarily became a necromonger so he could save other worlds and even other Furian's through diplomacy.
