- I attached the DIY laser marker to the pillar drill.
We change ordinary laser pointer into line laser.

And that’s the reason why the pre-installed laser guides on cheap drill presses don’t work. They are missing at least one degree of freedom by using a cross-hair laser instead of two individually adjustable line lasers as shown here. The solution here is great.

Pretty old video but hopefully you'll see my comment. Was wondering why you have used a dot shape laser + glass rod instead of a line shape laser? Wouldn't it work with a line laser?
Can I use 5mw lasers as I can't find find any 1mW except in bulk purchasing
