Yuka has been a great tool for healthier shopping. My doctor loves that it lowered my cholesterol without me having to take meds. He now uses it as well as recommends it to patients.
Same result here. Doctor said today I had the best blood work results he had see in a long time. Showed him the app. I asked him what he recommended for someone that had low electrolytes said Gatorade showed him the results and the bad additives he was giving people he just shook his head. Off my cholesterol meds.

I always wondered if they take money from the companies to make them say they are good. But now I know! Thanks Yuka! A follow up question though, I wonder if any companies would ever try and take legal action against you if you said their products are “bad”
Hello :) We had a big legal action taken by the lobby of charcuterie in France but after 3 years of legal procedures, the court ruled in our favor and recognized our right to information about nitrites, risky additives found in many processed meats in France.

Love the app and have gotten several people to use it but when I questioned your rating on something that had fluoride in it you supported the use of fluoride even though there is a lot of info out in the harms of it.

With global warming and more diseases spreading by mosquitoes and ticks, we all need to protect ourselves from insect bites but don’t want to poison our bodies in the process. Thank you!
I love Yuka. Does the app check for heavy metals that may be present in food? (e.g. cadmium, lead, arsenic)? Will you ever check protein powders since so many people consume them.
Thank you! We don't check heavy metals as this would require laboratory tests so it's quite impossible to do on millions of products. As for protein powders, we have to-he project to work on that to be able de analyze them :)

It's wild how many additives that are banned in the EU are in American food, and also how many of those additives are just for color or texture! Even if the jury is out on the science behind said additive I'd rather just go with one that's less risky and deal with different color food lol.

I started Yuka with some ideas about what was healthiest. I was surprised by many of the scores that I thought would be high were not. The cost has nothing to do with the quality of the product. Hello for the USA we love this app Everytime we are at the grocery store we scan everything...many of the foods we used all our lives are now going back on the shelf. Why do manufacturers need to add 10 letter words to our food? We have also found that you need to scan it everytime you put it in the cart as we have found that it scanned good last week now it doesn't as the manufacturers are changing there ingredients all the time.

I used to naturally gravitate toward products labeled "organic" or that had healthy/green looking packaging thinking they were the healthier choice until my trainer recommended Yuka. It really opened my eyes to how most of those labels are unregulated marketing terms meant to get you to spend more money for the same or sometimes even worse quality ingredients. I did know that was a thing but I still believed most were healthier than generic brand items - I was so wrong! Of course there are still some great brands out there that are worth the upgrade but thanks to Yuka not only do we eat healthier but save money too.

I love how the app puts me back in control. At one point in my life I used to write the ingredients of cosmetics out on an excel doc and then research what they were and their toxicity and then try to gain some knowledge about what it all was and it was impossible (and I'm a scientist used to research)! Thank goodness I can just scan the product now! I am also shocked at how many toxic and/or polluting chemicals are added casually to everyday things like shampoo, it really opens my eyes up to the damage we are potentially doing to the planet. I've been using Yuka for about 4 months. I'm a vegan, so for $35 per year, Yuka will instantly tell me if the product is vegan, and if it may be of risk of contamination of non vegan products. I drink 1 litre of soy milk a day. Yuka showed me I could purchase a much healthier, and organic, soy milk that happened to be 80 cents cheaper. So, I'm saving $292 per year, just by swapping my soy milk. Many other products I've swapped have been less expensive, so, I'm saving quite a bit more than that.... all for swapping for healthier products. Very, very impressed.
Absolutely love the app! probably the most used one on my phone. 100% worth the yearly subscription.. I have told all my family and friends about it and many use it now. I scan everything that I buy and have swapped out many brands to better ones.. Its so scary the dangerous chemicals in our food and products..Thank you guys so much

So many expensive brands do not contain the best ingredients. Even Aveda isn’t so great.
