I got my head stuck in railings in Glasgow as a child had to call fire brigade and my mum left me she was mortified my aunt had to stay with me while they got me out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for clarifying the answers to questions that [I, personally] had never asked. Your videos are interesting and it blows my mind that Internet randos demand you feed them 🙃.
Hi Mrs G, We have been married 56 years and neither of us have worn a wedding ring for the last 55 years it does not stop us feeling any less married than anyone else! Thanks for the volgs Ivery much look forward to them, all the very best to you and your family.
I, as a German, have been enjoying your wonderful channel right from the start to simply practice my own listening (and speaking) skills!....Tons of kudos to you! 🥰
Your personal life has nothing to do with anyone else. You dont even have to justify why you wear your wedding ring or not. Subscribed to you just over a week ago and so glad I did. A very refreshing and honest set of videos. Keep them up. Looking forward to the next one.❤
Love your videos. My father worked in lots of poor countries, so up to the age of 17 me and my youngest sister lived in loads of different places like Africa, India, Pakistan, Philippines, Bangladesh etc. We used to go to England for a holiday. My mother used to teach in the primary (elementary) schools in all these different countries.
I have been married for 31 years and because of my job I don't wear my wedding ring. Sensible eating with a good mix of vegetarian and carnivorous is healthier. I don't care about you're history or personal life I am more interested in seeing my country from a different perspective and of most of the RUclipsrs with an opinion I find you the most genuine and relatable please keep it up😘
Hey, #1 I fully sympathise with. I go travelling to see the sights and the countryside, not to experience weird and bizarre cultural dishes. Also, in foreign lands, I speak a little French (badly) but I do not speak Restaurant, even in English speaking countries. Therefore, whether in Moscow or Madrid, I tend to eat at McDonalds or similar, where there is an electronic menu with nice pictures of what you're ordering. I'll save my ration of intrepidity (is that a word? Is now) for adventuring down little-used tracks, not for feeding. Oh, and Marmite may look, smell and taste like axle grease (y'all thought I was going to say something else didn't you) but I assure you it is not even suitable for use as a bearing lubricant.
What you like & don't like has nothing to do with anyone else. As an American I love your content and the comparison between English & American. Keep posting x
I loved the “things you don’t know about me”, it was great to learn a bit more about who you are. The rumours section felt uncomfortable, I understand why you addressed sed them but the comments shouldn’t be made by viewers in the first place. Fun fact about me: I’m teaching myself to hula hoop at the grand old age of 61!
Congratulations on still married to the same husband. I am still married to the same wife and I hope you are enjoying your relationship as much as I am enjoying mine.
My food preferences are quite similar to you, mostly vegetarian. I can totally relate to it. When I have eat an unfamiliar cuisine, I almost always choose vegan as all vegan food is automatically vegetarian.
I now call myself a "mamalist", or in my words I don't eat my own kind! Mammals, I eat veg so not a vegetarian😄, and neither fish or birds are mammals so safe with tuna or chicken (though every so often I have to put the fresh chicken back on the shelf!!) But the burnt burger is definitely out!
Thanks for sharing those more personal details with us. I've seen someone commenting about the wedding ring thing in quite a negative way (implying your whole back story was a lie) and thought that a) why would you make that up? and b) what business is that of ours? My daughter, at about 5 years old, managed to get her head stuck through some wooden bars on a window. It was a historic house, and there's no way anyone was going to start cutting the ancient oak beams out to rescue her. Luckily, I managed to keep hold of the notion that what goes in, must come out, and that clearly the gap was wider at some points than others, and got her calm long enough to methodically work out where the widest point was. Scary for a few minutes though!
Haha! Wouldn't that be fun if I just made every single thing up....I'm actually a single Canadian woman who lives in Toronto and just uses stock footage for my UK clips. 😂😂 Glad your daughter's head isn't still stuck in the bars - a great story after she got out okay!
I'm making a semi educated guess here, knowing how chairs like this are assembled I think probably 2 or 3 hunky fireman carefully applied outward pressure on the legs allowing the rungs to be sprung out freeing your feet and y careful application of pressure inwards the chair gets temporarily re assembled waiting for adhesive and clamps at a later date 😇
Great to learn more about you. I used to use the thin wired headphones whilst out and about but kept breaking so got my self a cheap pair of wireless ones, they do keep falling out but save a fortune not having to keep replacing the lol.
Just found your channel tonight, love it! I’m in the UK, down near Portsmouth. Love your enthusiasm and honesty, especially about chain restaurants and sweet snacks 😂
Loved the video, but still think the Mushy Pea one was your best. My favourite place in the world is Algonquin Park northern Ontario in the autumn. Wireless headphones (not earbuds) are very good as no cable to get caught on things and can put phone in pocket.
I enjoy your comments on such random topics, and that you read and answer some of our reactions, not all RUclips content providers seam not to bother to read our replies.
So, basically, Girl Gone London is not a robot but is an actual human being with their own assortment of typical human quirks and variations and phases.
On the subject of foreign food, When I moved to Spain 29 years ago every one said that I should eat 'al fresco' I went to several open-air restaurants but none had it on the menu.
Nice video! It's not everybody who would deal with such subjects so well. I'm right with you about wireless earphones. Something you don't know about me? Practically everything I suppose but I'm into old motorbikes, although I think I am the slowest old biker in Northumberland (my bike is nearly as old as me).

The world needs to move on from the 1950s 😂😂😂 oh and will be following, find your comparisons and info about the states really fascinating ❤
Would you make a whole video about your trip to the Cook Islands? It sounds really interesting, especially the international incident you caused in a 5* Hotel.
That was me that made the original comment about you not wanting to try new cuisine aka “foreign muck” on holiday abroad to Spain and preferred to stick to a cuisine you know ….. Thank you for your glowing review of my understanding of your inner soul and so , with a little reluctance , I will accept your implied offer of me becoming your new , personal Nosferatu , your soothsayer and life guidance guru. I will offer this guidance only sparingly and when needed so don’t expect miracles over night. Get your fringe sorted out.
You and your mishap flights! Didn't you have a weird stop in Bermuda? I remember you telling me about that. I'm glad you liked the Cook Islands!!! Such fun adventures! Fact about me . . . 🤔 . . . I hate driving and didn't get my license until I was 33.
Mmmmm ... methinks you seem like a real person, and a nice one at that ! Knowing what you like, and liking what you know, doesn't mean a closed mind. I still love the mushy peas clip.
Its fine to like what you like and not be guilted into engaging with things you're not interested in. I used wired earbuds myself (even if they have a shorter life) as the wireless ones pop out at the worst possible time and get lost forever (though I do spend a bit more on good-quality wired ones as I like noise-cancelling).
Love that you shared you, it is awesome to see human you. Not meant negatively at all. It was nice to be able to relate. My fact for you, is I love all things New Orleans, Nashville, Florida Keys, Tennessean but I hate flying and can never do that length of flight. This is why I love to hear the differences between us. I love that you confront the haters making them look ridiculous. You be you, you’re a good person 😘
My fun fact is that I like to use the exact right word when I am writing something and I will get Roget out for as long as it takes EVEN FOR A TEXT MESSAGE.
Loved hearing your fun facts. What an amazing trip you had, I'd love to go to the Cook Islands, sounds amazing. And yep, totally on board with the wireless headphones things. I didn't get on with them, same as you. Having said that, I also hate all the fricking wires everywhere with laptop chargers, phone chargers, headphones etc all getting jumbled up. Ahhh.
I’m also a very fussy eater & there’s loads of food that I won’t eat, like anything slightly spicy. I mainly like things like fish fingers & chicken nuggets etc. If I was ever to go on holiday - haven’t been on one for over 40 years - I’d probably eat at either Burger King or McDonald’s.
On the flip side absolutely love my wireless headphones. Had them about 4 years now and they rarely drop out, very reliable. Every time you put them on they tell you what charge percentage they are on and when the case battery gets low on charge a little red button lights up to let you so it’s not often you get caught out with a low charge. I find the wired headphones a bit of a faff but whatever floats your boat 👍
Funny video. I can completely see you as a teacher. You would be very good at it so you can always have that as a possible future direction in a portfolio career (after the necessary training of course). I guess it is lucky that the Fire Department freed you from that bar chair.
Wireless headphones….. I only use 1set and that’s for my racing set up, it is a large over the ear set and never leaves the house. For my purposes it is indispensable.
I'm happy to hear you talk about anything as you do have sensible things and views to say. Only other comment since this vid is on the personal side is a worry that your skin seems a pit pallid as if you need iron or sunlight? My comment isn't about 'looks' its a health worry.
I actually prefer a wireless headset to a wired one, headset not buds, stems from years ago and being plugged into the desk, getting up to get a coffee or go to the loo and almost strangling myself forgetting I was wearing them and plugged in. Now would be dragging the laptop onto the floor along with anything else on the desk.
Hiya kaylyn, great video, sounds liked a right cool place in the cook islands 🇨🇰 I think I would be looking out for that stone fish as well what a disguise!!! 😮 did you know that the USA 🇺🇸 have been playing in the World Cup T20 cricket 🏏 and have been playing really well 👍🙌, and there hosting it in New York, Texas, and Florida, 😀
The whole problem is that whilst most tennis clubs here have social tennis (usually at the weekend at some point), they'll try to get you to play in the leagues if you're a good player. Most social tennis at clubs is played as doubles. I just like to find a quiet time of the day to have a hit to be honest and do some practice drills etc. Most clubs will have lessons/league matches in the evenings so the courts are booked out to the club. I'm with you on the not wearing jewellery thing. I don't really like wearing hats, gloves or socks either. I'm neurodivergent (though I don't fit a diagnosis of autism or ADHD but I'm clearly not neurotypical) so I have some sensory things going on with touch and clothing texture (I cannot wear most types of wool). I don't have much in the way of food pickiness in regard to texture and taste, but I would always prefer salty/savoury over sweet. I also much prefer a wired headphone, but for me it's because I'm a trained musician and sound engineer and I am yet to find a wireless headphone which actually sounds good. The wired ones just sound so much better, even the cheaper ones! Plus, they're harder to break and lose. Your Cook Island break sounds utterly amazing!!!
Re the ring thing. I was divorced 24 years ago, and took off my ring about that long ago. But every so often it feels as though it is still there, and my thumb always goes over to twiddle it. I kind of think that my ex hubby (and father of my children so we do bump into each other occasionally) is thinking about his follies, but maybe the Romans were right about there being a physical connection from that finger to the heart!!
Kalyn, your revelation that you're NOT young, free and single has broken this old heart irrevocably.... not that I ever thought you weren't married of course.
I don't like wireless headphones either, there's a bit of loss in fidelity when something is transmitted over Bluetooth, I also agree with the problem with losing them. I actually have a few sets of wired headphones from a British company, and they're the best sound, longest lasting ones I've ever had.
Hey Kaylin, I know you have tried Marmite, have you tried Twiglets as a snack ? It’s funny, I love Marmite and so does my wife, but she hates Twiglets. Try them and let your RUclips viewers know what you think. I always have a bag in the cupboard.
I can fully understand the wedding ring thing because I haven't worn mine for around 30 years because it became inconvenient especially as it distorted and after one painful sports incident it was excruciating to keep on or moreso to remove. No-one could possibly suggest that i wasn't married so it seems a little superfluous.
Not wearing your wedding ring should not be a big deal. Neither one of my parents wore one. They stayed married to each other, meaning married once, just like you.
I don't like jewelry or wearing things on my hands either. I got fed up of nearly ripping my fingers off on door handles, etc. In fact, the very first argument I had with my wife (of 52 years) was about her wanting to buy me an engagement ring, and me not wanting one. We compromised - she bought the ring, and I didn't wear it !!
When it comes to diet, I'm just like you. I hate red meat and eat mostly fish though do eat chicken occasionally. Becoming fully vegetarian wouldn't be a problem for me as I'm not that much of a chicken fan but couldn't become vegan as love fish too much.
You are only the second person I've met who has been to the Cook Islands (other than those of my family who went there during our sailing year when I was 12). Great diving, very friendly Māori people. Unusual politics as the King of New Zealand is its head of state, even though it's a sovereign state. Btw. I love children too (having had six, and with 15 grandsons). I just wish they were born aged three. 😅
@@GirlGoneLondonofficial Have you heard of Padel (Tennis)? There are lots of courts in London. There's also Pickleball which is another game similar to tennis.
Love the video GGL!! Also a wireless h8er....Interesting fact I can move/bend/flex the end joints of my fingers!!! Also I suspected you were veggie as you are really pale!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
See its neither knew nor cared about the ring thing, was half expecting when she said holiday in the Cook islands for her to say she now has swollen fingers.
I have a set of wired headphones (earbuds, as the hip young things say). I cut one half off and switched my 'phone to mono. Keeps things simple and I don't get run over in the street. Or strangled in bed.
I’ve had to stop watching this video after a few minutes. Not because I don’t like you, far from it. Rather it’s because I just cannot believe that people write this crap, as in these ‘rumours’. I like your content and your style and you seem lovely. Isn’t that enough for people? We either like you so watch you or don’t so don’t but why on earth do we have to try to unpick details of your life? Vegan or carnivore, someone who is picky about what they eat or the most adventurous eater in the world…….no disrespect (at ALL) by why should anyone have an opinion either way? I guess it’s just me but I for one vote you just keep doing you and don’t even bother entertaining what others may or may not think. 😂❤
Food abroad. I'll try their food, but mainly not. I like what I know and I know what I like. We'd say you're Not a big meat eater rather than a vegetarian. ❤ from Northeast England ❤️
I just changed my phone and it has no headphone connection, so i had to get pods. I lost them within a week and i paid a lot more than £4 for them! Talking of sports, you expressed an interest in a previous video about maybe getting to know cricket a little. If you haven't done it yet, go to a T20 match with someone who knows the game. I think you might enjoy it.
This is my problem with the phone with no headphone connection! I use an old phone as my "iPod" these days that has a connection for my wired headphones for when I want to listen to music! Will look into T20, thanks!
Stonefish. Reputedly deadly but I think they're quite rare. I lived in Rarotonga for two years, have been back on holidays a dozen times, swum in the lagoon literally hundreds of times, and I've only ever seen a stonefish once. They just sit on the bottom, they won't attack, only risk is treading on one, which is why I always wore sandshoes/'reef shoes' with rubber soles and never worried any more than that. And in all the time I was in Raro I never witnessed a stonefish incident nor spoke to anyone who had been involved in one. It's a bit like adders in the UK - you can get bitten, it's as well to know they exist, but the risk is not great if you're even moderately careful. There are also quite poisonous water snakes but they're quite timid and the most you'll see of one is its tail disappearing as fast as it can go.
I hate wireless headphones - they always fall out of my ears! However, I now just love my bone conduction headphones, which sit handily on their own springy band, just behind my ears (the band goes around the back) and I then carry my MP3 or phone in my pocket and connect via Bluetooth. I'm not great with technology but these are brilliant. They have been a game changer for my husband, who loves to listen to stuff but has hearing aids in both ears. The bone conduction headphones allow him to hear clearly and has brought him a lot of joy, just when he thought he would have to resign himself to not being able to hear music and speech properly ever again.
What can I share? I am subscribed to about 300 channels and GGL is one of my top 5 (not that there is any order of preference within the 5). Why? I hear you ask. Because aside from the variety of subjects (which I feel more enlightened and educated from) and the rants (which do make me chuckle), and not forgetting the risk you took for us with the Marmite taste test, but for me, its the fact that you take the time to reply to your followers.
From time to time I don't eat meat despite my loving both red and white meat. It's not a matter of preference, I have a heart condition and I try to mix it up. Your preference is your preference and, well, feck the rest, you do you!
Big wireless headpnones are good, the buds not so. However Bluetooth hearing aids are amazing, im listening to this video with the balance set so i can hear my kids if they wanna get my attention, yet no one knows i stealthy listening to something else
Want to hang with my kids, so I can have some relax time, lol I know what you mean about Wireless Ear Plugs they are so easy to lose and the sound is not as good as Wire Ones at least to me. Cook Islands, wish I could go there one day. Many RUclipsr's have the same problem, saying they are married, but never shows their partner - Don't worry about it, people will believe what they believe, no matter what you say.
Nice of you to bare your soul for our entertainment. As a quid pro quo I find football incredibly boring, I don't really like Queen and I've never seen The Sound of Music.
Wow we are more similar than we knew! I also find football boring, have never seen the Sound of Music, and I guess Queen is okay but don't really have strong opinions so could easily join you on that side. Thanks for sharing. :)
You’re not the only person that doesn’t wear a wedding ring. My partner says she would marry me but not wear a ring as she hates them. That’s fine, saves me the money 😂
for the record, those chairs do still exist in my parents house and I haven't gotten stuck in one since so I feel like we can all be happy about that.

Ah, so many people haven't been that it's nice to hear someone has. We loved Rarotonga!
I thought I was odd not liking to wear any jewelery. Great to hear that there are at least 2 of us. 😊
100% with you on the wireless headphones, they're such a faff, even if you don't lose them you have to remember to charge them, awful things
thank you! welcome to the anti-wireless headphones club that I just started.
Do a video on being stuck in us vs uk chairs
Funny video. I can completely see you as a teacher. You would be very good at it so you can always have that as a possible future direction in a portfolio career (after the necessary training of course). I guess it is lucky that the Fire Department freed you from that bar chair.
Wireless headphones….. I only use 1set and that’s for my racing set up, it is a large over the ear set and never leaves the house. For my purposes it is indispensable.
My parents didn't wear their wedding rings all the time. Thank You for Being.
I'm happy to hear you talk about anything as you do have sensible things and views to say. Only other comment since this vid is on the personal side is a worry that your skin seems a pit pallid as if you need iron or sunlight? My comment isn't about 'looks' its a health worry.
I appreciate that!
I'm a New Zealander and are amazed you travelled to the Cook Islands! I imagine it's very relaxed there. Did you get a flight from Auckland?
yes we did! We went London to LA to Auckland to Rarotonga. :)
I understand about losing wireless headphones but I do love the compact easy to travel throw them in a pocket and go aspect to them
This is the one upside!
Nice knowing more things about you Kayln & have you ever tired a delicious treat called Collin the caterpillar before? 🤔💛
I've never used wireless headphones but I expect I'd be the same as I hate wireless pc peripherals such as mice and keyboards.
I love my wireless headphones and what amazing place the cook islands look wow great video again
Last time I stayed in France (self-catered) I cooked macaroni cheese and fajitas... probably should have tried the local food more.
okay this is so me! even down to the food choices! 😂 no shame in it!
I do t like wireless headphones either 😊
I love your accent.
I can fully understand the wedding ring thing because I haven't worn mine for around 30 years because it became inconvenient especially as it distorted and after one painful sports incident it was excruciating to keep on or moreso to remove. No-one could possibly suggest that i wasn't married so it seems a little superfluous.
oh dear! Yes, I've heard some horror stories about injuries and wearing rings!
Awesome video ❤
If you like tennis and have good hand eye coordination you might want to try squash, it's a bit more intense and great to play with friends
oooh I may actually give it a try!
@@GirlGoneLondonofficial Have you heard of Padel (Tennis)? There are lots of courts in London. There's also Pickleball which is another game similar to tennis.
If you are on holiday you do what you like! (If you're not damaging anyone else)😂
Love the video GGL!! Also a wireless h8er....Interesting fact I can move/bend/flex the end joints of my fingers!!! Also I suspected you were veggie as you are really pale!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
I also like proper ear items.
'Yip! hate wireless as well! always watch and listen to your content through a pair of HD600's and a headphone amp! hmm! impressed by the guess lol!
@@GirlGoneLondonofficial I like the "ipod" solution.
I've never lost my inner child, nor have most of my friends.
Oh I love this! Always love your comments...what other channels should I be following then that are in your top 5? I like to learn new stuff too!
Want to hang with my kids, so I can have some relax time, lol
I know what you mean about Wireless Ear Plugs they are so easy to lose and the sound is not as good as Wire Ones at least to me.
Cook Islands, wish I could go there one day.
Many RUclipsr's have the same problem, saying they are married, but never shows their partner - Don't worry about it, people will believe what they believe, no matter what you say.
Been married 48 years and haven't worn my wedding ring for all 48 years minus 1 day. My skin is allergic to it!
I love wireless headphones!
Lol. Tl;dr - ‘I’m highly neurotic’.
@@GirlGoneLondonofficial Separated at birth (by a sodding great ocean)
Fun fact about tennis, I have absolutely no idea how the scoring system works.....it always baffles me
You’re not the only person that doesn’t wear a wedding ring. My partner says she would marry me but not wear a ring as she hates them. That’s fine, saves me the money 😂
