Only viper could completely botch his opening strategy, get severely out eco'd, and still somehow immediately come back.

They made it an entertaining game. Viper seemed to only attempt the strat to make it an even game after the Yo idle time. And Yo would’ve won tho without the idle time, since Viper didn’t seem to plan for the strat from the very beginning
Yo lost when he let him have that other gold pile.
No he was still way economically ahead. He still should have won from that position but viper micro was just insanely good and allow him to take some very good trades.
He was ahead with eco, so he could spare few villa to tower that gold.
This felt like a 2020 type game I don't know why. Maybe it was the fact I was seeing an FC into plumes after so long

Vipers micro is insane! But macro was not so good
When you compare it to phosphoru i think it was really good how he was able to build up such large numbers of plumes and mangonels and still produce some vills.
Having bad eco is part of this strategy lol Thats the whole point of it

The disadvantage yo had at start made it a bit less likeable to me
Probably that's why Viper went to that strategy, since the chance of a "fair" game is gone he used the game to try new things
It's always fun watching the pros.
Someone in Viper’s Twitch chat told him about Yo’s idle time. That’s why he chatted about it. Viper then said there’s nothing he could do to even it out, so he just had to go with it. To was alright with it. He was 100% testing this strat, so this win doesn’t mean anything. Not like ladder does at the highest level anyway.
@@NathanSkifton He could've deleted 2 vils to even it out.
@@justindie7543 he would still have the res collected from those two vills. It's not really possible to even the scales completely at that point. By the way Viper said that he would try this strat with whatever civ he would random into, so he didn't decide to go for this strategy just because of Yo's idle start.

I can't believe yo lost this game. At 8:15 he had denied the gold, had a large military and eco advantage and somehow Viper came back.
Almost came back but lost the mangonel fights. Unfortunate, that was a really good game though!
Yo didnt know how bad Viper's eco is. But still Viper did a crazy micro a usual and that crushing mangonel fight would make anyone ragequit :D
Good that people are waking up. At one point we will have to go back to the still unanswered question of whether some people within the USA helped planning that "special day" 23 years ago and why was the alleged mastermind behind it murdered without a trial?
Good old Arabia games, when it was less about booming and macro, and more about strategy, micro-ing, maintaining a momentum, understanding your win condition.
But devs are strategy-phobic. They killed any potential for games like this to happen.
How to fix that? Reverse most Arabia changes:
1. Stone mine shouldn't be 15 tiles away from the TC, I know devs don't like Trush strats, but they were always part of this game.
2. Gold mines are diagnal to the TC in a bizarrely fixed location, instead of being random with a chance of being closer to the TC, further, or even closer to the woodline or other resource. Every resource is spaced out, in fixed positions, making scouting barely relevant. Devs love pushing their deer eh.
3. Woodlines in 2021+ Arabia are no longer thick, but rather dozens of teeny tiny woodlines across the map, that was never Arabia. We had fewer woodlines, with more trees. Encouraging less TC spam in the mid-game. And more strategic castle drops / siege pushes, since you had a position to fight for.
4. TC location is fixed on a measured radius from the center of the map, again, for no good reason. We sacrifice strategy and quality gameplay for "balanced" map. You might as well go play Starcraft if that's what you base your game design on.
Meta is fixable. Unfortunately it probably wont be fixed by the devs. They barely know how to design a civ (Houfnice, Flemish, Shivramsha...) It's up to us, the community and the content creator to take resposibility and provide better maps for tournaments, opposing the false conception of the devs.
Phosphoru-ing got shadow nerfed with the auto-farm 🧑🌾🥔🥕🫛 placement.
It means the opponent has much more spare micro to deal with your stuff and you save on much less micro by going for wood 🪵 and gold 🪙.
