Disk one ended escaping midgar.
Disk two ended after the incident in the ancient city; which seems to be true for rebirth.
Disk three actually had very little on it which is prob why they put off the last two chars and their story.
My mom watched me play the original Final fantasy 7 when i was younger, she has recently heard about the remake and watched some videos on it, she is now very excited as she wants me to take my PS5 over for a weekend so she can watch me play the new remake .

I Remember when square lied and said FF7 remake "won't fit" in ONE game. Now it's not open world, and the story is different. That's already strike 3. Not to mention all the money stolen from player who played FF7 Last Soldier after killing it in just a year after release.

I hope it's a failure in comparison to remake (I know it won't be a failure in general) to punish the guys for fucking up the story in a way that was motivated solely by the need to drain the consumer of as much money as humanly possible.

I think they're sold out of physical pre-orders. Or it might just be the deluxe and collector editions that are sold out.

They said from the beginning that the remake trilogy wasn't going to be 100% the same as the original, that it was going to be expanded on and altered slightly but still give you the feeling of the original, which so far has been done excellent. FF7 was a huge part of my childhood and I for one am happy the way these new games are going.
@HAbarneyWK sorry. I know you didn't request a small novel but obviously it's a sore subject that I have a lot of thoughts on.
I see people say all the time "no one wanted to play the same game again" but I don't remember anyone complaining when the demo dropped and was basically a copy of the first bombing mission, just expanded a little. It just made everyone even more hyped for the game.
I think a lot of people decided they were going to love it no matter what. Hell, *I* thought I was one of those people.

star ocean 2 is a good example.
you can explore the first Continent completely and get fisted by stronger enemies if you go in the "wrong" direction but to leave the continent you need to progress the story.
or you could level up and get back to the story and steam roll everything if you want to. that game just has perfect balance!
they dont make games like that anymore. not even octopath managed that since it is open world.
maybe FF VII rebirth can do it.
Think of it like how we explored the overworld in the old FF 7 but the dungeons and towns are actually fully there and there is no loading screens. You see Junon from the distance and you can go there and seamlessly walk into the town with no loading. People dont want to call it open world because we arent free to explore every corner of the map from the start of the game. As far as im aware..the only load screens will be fast travel.@@fajaradi1223

Insanely hyped for this game. The first part was amazing. Final fantasy 7 was actually the first RPG ever played and it holds a very special place in my heart

@@nicholasnajibi3082 I grew up playing FFIV and VI. Wasn't the biggest fan of VII. The remake fleshed out the setting and characters. I enjoyed it much more than the original. The music was also fantastic.

Final Fantasy VII was my favorite video game of all time, maybe Chrono Trigger but most likely Final Fantasy 7 and that's why I hated the remake. I didn't think there was anything they were going to be able to do that would turn me off of a graphic update to this game but they found a way.

I’m 34 years old and likely played more FF games than you, and Remake is one of the best remakes to ever happen PERIOD.
Once this remake trilogy is finished it will trump the original in my opinion. Take your nostalgia glasses off.
Not sure of everybodys definition of openworld but the director actually said the game is a openworld with seamless interconnected regions. There is also verticality to it and you'll need specific chocobos to be able to climb or fly.
I am so ready to farm nuts to breed me a gold chocobo once again.
Now im kinda nostalgic for the good old times of resetting the game for hours to finally get the gold chick to hatch.

The technical definition of "open world" in gaming means your character has zero restrictions on where they can go at all times, it doesn't require something in the story to occur in order to proceed. This is why FFVII: Rebirth isn't open world because you can't get to certain areas of the game until you progress through the story (for instance, you can't get to Costa del Sol until you complete your first trip to Junon... or you can't get to Cosmo Canyon until you complete the Gold Saucer/Prison). That's why in this video he said it's "open zone", meaning if you've unlocked an area by progressing through the story, you can explore anywhere in that area.
3:26 There appears to be a summon available for each region that you can collect by defeating them in Chadly’s virtual arena; they are very, very hard fights; you weaken them by finding and activating the hidden divine intel zone in each region; I heard this takes them down to 1/2 strength
There's definitely going to be an extra challenge for beating them all at full strength. lol

@@michaelhanson5773 - Nope. I've played through the flashback part of the demo, since the full game will save that progress, but I haven't touched the other part of the demo.
I beat Titan at full strenght. That wasn’t hard after you got timing for perfect parry down.
If you struggle with that, then it will be bit dicey.
Quick clarification: I do believe the developers have stated that the zones are connected seamlessly with no loading screens. I guess "open world" could also imply that the player can experience the story in a non-linear way--which i don't think applies here--but this game is "open world" in all other senses of the term.
Exactly, similar to horizon series that game is also open world but you experience that open world in a sort of story driven way
It's not open world because you can't go anywhere at any time. You are free to explore the zones at your leisure, but to change zones you have to either fast travel, or take a specific route. ie the cave after the midgar zolom.

thats not true at all. Once you get to a certain point of the story you can go anywhere. If you were in rocket town or something you could get on the tiny bronco and make your way back to junon. You dont have to travel back through every "linear" path that brought you to rocket town in the first place.@@bonanzabrandon6877

I just finished remake for the first time on ps5. Already have 40 something hours on one save file, going to complete the story again on hard mode and then platinum
Did people really think they would cut Cait Sith?? Sure, he was probably the least played character by a substantial margin but his character had a pretty big role in the original's story...
If he was forced into my part and died, I left him dead. But, yeah, he's pretty important to the game. There's no way you could cut the character without altering the narrative significantly.
I think most people doubted that they would cut him, but were wondering if he would still ride the giant moogle because in Advent Children and the Vincent spin-off, it was nowhere to be found.
I remember decades ago when he died grabbing the black materia. I was happy they killed him off. Then all of a sudden from a distance...im cait sith 2...🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Ironically, Cait Sith was one of the most powerful characters in the original game and an absolute must-have in the speed-running community. I think a lot of people just saw his lower base stats and the fact he was a rather bland character and just didn't want to use him.
The thing im most excited for part 2 is just the Re-imagining of the golden saucer. I hope its just as crazy, depraved, and wacky fun house as before and they dont hold back. The mini games and all that should be a treat. It HAS to be one of he BIG highlights of Part 2

Ive been playing the OG FF7 since 1999 at least once a year every year. Loved the Remake, cant wait for Rebirth.
For more context for anyone who doesn't know, the third disc had to contain a lot of prerendered CGI cutscenes, which left little room for actual content. With the first two discs covering 98% of the game, the structure here makes perfect sense.
Yeah it definitely wasn't for pacing reasons, or narrative. I think a lot of us don't remember exactly HOW MUCH CGI was in the third disc, not just the climax of the game but TONS of spots in the Northern Crater itself has massive CGI sequences as background. Those sections get so hyped that we often didn't even notice our pre-rendered background is now uh, a full motion video lol
I just bought FF7R last week on steam as my first FF game ever. I havnt been able to put it down, it's so amazing. I can't wait for this to release on PC

I loved Triple Triad, even joined an online version of it and played that for years and met some cool people through it. FF games really do make some great mini games

Ah, FINALLY someone acknowledging that the bonding mechanic was already present in the OG FFVII, even though hidden. Hearing it presented as a new thing from so many professional outlets drove me crazy... Thank you Falcon!
Disc 3 was basically the end. I believe the only reason it was needed was because the the ending was so big it needed its own Disc to fit it.
The cutscenes at the end probably took significant space

Really excited for this game. Going to get my PS5 tomorrow as this is the first game on my must play list that is PS5 exclusive. Probably not going to watch a lot more videos on the game from now on, as I want to avoid spoilers. One question I have about the dating mechanic is if it will affect the song 'Promises To Keep' that Aerith is shown to be singing. It would be kind of crazy if there would be versions of Tifa, Barret, and Yuffie singing that song or even getting their own unique song.
I am just gonna rewatch this video constantly until launch day. CAN NOT WAIT.

The thing for me is i want my summons from the Remake playthrough. I think Bahamut didn't get the glory it deserves because of the limited areas we could summon him.
I'm excited to find out if they kept the Chocobo nest found on the train tracks path to Corel. That was one of my favorite little secrets of the original.

Oh man my first original playthrough I went though close to 100 mates with my black chocobo without getting a gold one, eventually beat the game without one..my second playthrough, first time I was actually mad it only took 1 try, the amount of time spent on my first go was ridiculous l.
@@Dan-Simms I think there is somewhere on the backend that forced the game to give the undesired result. I had the same issue in the past. I remember seeing a video on the scripting specifics and it turns out I was the one making the mistake. I'll have to find that again...

I'm so glad the exclusivity deal is only 3 months. Might still take 6 months to a year to see it on PC tho but if the PC port is as good as 15 was then it's worth the wait.

I remember buying the PS1 with FF7 through grey import for (back then) about 1500 guilders - 700 euro's-ish today. How time has flown and how excited I am for this iteration is uncanny!
They’ve actually said that by the end of the game that you’ll be able to walk/traverse from one end of the map to the other, without being obstructed by zones. Although I take your point it is open zones and chapter/story based progression.

I think I saw somewhere that they said there was no planned Vincent DLC at the moment. They said that the story they are going to tell with him would be enough to “please the fans”.
The one thing i hated about the remake was that your rolls didnt have I-frames, got tired of getting wacked every time an enemy decided to attack.
If you have a saved game from Remake/Intergrade, do you keep your levels/stats/materia, or do you have to start over?
You start over, unfortunately. Those two bonus summons are all that you get for completed save files.

@TomMSTie1138 I'm not a fan of that in general. It always bugged me that Xenosaga and Mass Effect always restart you at the beginning of the next game. But I understand that they already have to carefully balance it for new people who didn't play the new game. Still, they could at least give you Gil or item bonuses for a little head start.

You miss the theory crafting! To each their own, but I enjoy reading the crazy fan theories and getting into discussions boy how the story is going to change. And since 15 and 16 weren’t for me, I’m seeing the 7 trilogy as the only offline FF game worth my time presently.
Bought FF7 on PS 1 in 1997. Double CD Jewel case. Didn't think it would be good. It was so good, friends would come over to watch me play it. We started alternating who's playing so we could complete it
10:41 the buggy is likely back due to the devs having the desert blockade from the original game. there were quicksand barriers around the Corel Prison, making it impossible to escape it, once inside.
the buggy was the only way to cross the desert.
it was also our only way to cross rivers, so perhaps there will be unpassable river sections in the world?
But, we did see flying and wall climbing chocobos, so who knows how useful the buggy will be?
The continents on the world map is also vastly different from the original. I like that

I think whoever you bond with most and go out on a date with is who gets killed by sephiroth in the end, but with all these different timelines implemented in the game it will make us believe they are dead and gone for good but then in the 3rd game they will bring them back somehow in a different timeline. Just a theory but I’m sure they could make that work somehow. What do you think?
I have a hunch that the Aerith thing is going to be dependent on Cloud's relationship with the other characters, maybe even who the date is with. Would be something to carry over into game 3, and would dramatically increase replay value. If it does, you would either get a game save carry over into game 3, or maybe game 3 would have a prompt or series of in-game questions to enable that carryover, like at the start of KOTOR II.

12:36 I've played the original on PS1 more times than I can remember. If they put a new path in the game where I can save Aeris (Yes that's what she's named in the European version) I'm all for it.
I knowthat in the Japanese version there is a path called "Resurrect Areith".
The polygon thing seems to be the fort condor defence mini game.
There probably wont be a Rebirth DLC with playable Cid or Vincent. I think it was Hamaguchi that said he would prefer to continue on the third part and get it done faster than work on side projects and DLCs for Rebirth. I completely agree with that sentiment, because another full 4 years until part 3 would be rough

Square wants to make this the best game ever and as memorable as the original which I'm so here for. This is way more than I could have asked for I never thought I'd see the day that they actually remade the game and they're doing it so big. I'm so excited I literally cannot wait. It's gonna be so hard if we lose aerith after two whole amazing games with her.
