Even if Metallikatz had picked Les I don't think it would have worked out for 3 reasons:
      1. Stylistically, Les more funky and dynamic than Metallica's limited arsenal
      2. Les would have ultimately been repulsed by the macho metal scene especially those shows with Guns n Roses where everyone was trying to outcool the other
      3. Les own creative expressions yearning to break free but James frowns on solo projects

Yup, Les and Brain are almost telepathic with their playing. Which makes sense since they've been playing together off and on since 1988 when, after the original Primus drummer Jay Lane left the band, Brain was supposed to take his place as the drummer in the band. But, he had to leave really soon after breaking his foot, and was replaced with Herb. But, Brain eventually rejoined Primus in 1996 and recorded a couple of albums with them. In addition to that, he's been in multiple side-projects with Les and has even been on a few of his solo albums. So, their playing together is absolutely next level.

I love Brain and Tim Alexander both but I think I prefer Tim with Primus and Brain with Bucket of Bernie Brains and his work on Buckethead solo stuff! The one thing I would have to say though that his drumming in Primus was stellar as well AntiPop was a phenomenal album!

With Les you get more. He's found a way with that Bass he plays, makes me swim in pools of clay.. Caught this show in Sacramento, Cal. The highest, most weirdest high I've ever experienced at a concert in all my 62yrs. 2 c i, heavy shit. Unforgettable. To top it off a CD of the show was sold. I still get uncomfortable rush running up and down my spine of icy 2CI flashbacks. Worth every lost brain cell, thanks to the burnt brain cell replacement agreement I signed with the Guys from the other side. PeaceOrElse
