Agree 100%. I suppose the good news is that there isn’t much room left in the 0-60space. When you consider a family sports saloon is now doing high 3’s.
Hey! I own an A110S ... and tell you: Forget about anything else 😁 Test drive an A110 or A110S and then write something again about these wonderful sport cars! Everything is so different and far away from Alpine ... 😁😁😁 Addicted! 👌🏽
Great video..! I’m 6’6 and drove the Alpine A110 Legende without the bucketseats. No problem with the headroom in that car. The salesrep told me it’s about 4 cm more headroom in that version. Best regards Carl from Sweden
4 cm more headroom in The Légende...? We have a Légende and when I compared seat height with a A110 Pure / S / PE I was under the impression that the seats could be equally low (if you put the fixed bucket seats in the lowest position => with the bolts).
@@Franzino I actually jumped between a Legende and a A110S (with bucket seats in the lowest position), and it’s clearly more headroom in the Legende. If the difference is 4 cm or maybe less I’m not sure, but that’s what I was told. Either way, congrats for owning this magic piece of machinery..!
Geez at every camera angle you show with this car, it honestly looks like the quickest thing I've seen on any of the videos. Wow, this thing just looks fast! Some camera angles it almost looks so quick to believe, almost like it's a floating car from the future lol. Nice car man 👍
Hi Joe, very nice video :) I also had the opportunity to drive the same model here in Germany near Frankfurt some months ago for one whole day, and I have to say that I agree with your verdict on the car. It is a funky, fun car, but not for anyone and not for every day use, since it is quite small and impractical and quite hard on bad and slow roads. For the track on the other hand - it's great - the faster you drive it, the better it gets. For the tight corners it is the perfect weapon. I personally found the car quite decent even on the highway sections and also not to noisy. It is also very stabile at the speeds over 250 km/h, very stabile on the brakes as well. To the engine sound - I did found it very interesting at the beginning of my test, but later on, it became a bit to much for me. Personally I think that I would go with the pure or with the Legende GT version - yes, a bit less power, but much more subtle suspension set up for the every day's use. It really ist a special car, this A110... And the cool thing about it, it is quite rare, and it can be customized here in Frankfurt, in order to make it even more special. Regards & keep going with the great videos of yours.
Maybe the bucket seats in your test A110S where not in the lowest position? The seats of the loan/press cars are mostly in the middle position. You can lower the bucket seats with the bolts.
Good video. Glad to see Alpine and recently Renault Sport offering cars to Joe Achilles for evaluation. Right now the Alpine limiting factor is the sales and service experience at main dealers. Many notches below their specialist marque competitors. In a few years time as a market develops of independent specialists the small number of these cars that make it onto UK roads will prove to be a great purchase.
Excellent video thanks Joe. I was bowled over by the gushing reviews when the Alpine came out (including the one by Benzene) and it should have been on my shopping list for a £50k fun to drive car. I chose the M2C (as you know mine is very similar to yours, except still stock except the brakes). I preferred the quality, the 6 cylinder engine, and the practicality - the Alpine hardly has space for weekend luggage for two, which is essential for my fun car. And I wanted a manual gearbox which you cannot get in the Alpine. I had a back to back drive of a regular Alpine with the M2 and it was certainly great to drive. Like you, I had no issues with the dual clutch shift which some have criticized, and the handling, go and sound were all great. Having read how wonderful the ride is, I was surprised that I did not particularly prefer the ride to the very firm M2. If I was shopping for an Alpine it would probably be the non S version. But I have no plans to change the M2. A Cayman GTS 4.0 would appeal but at 50% higher cost and without the practicality.
That's funny, I sold my manual M2 Competition to buy the Alpine. M2C a cracking car but the Alpine is so different to drive than most other performance cars.
Awesome car and refreshingly different from the usual (Porsche) sports cars. Love the stripped out low weight ethos of the car. I’d love to have one in my garage one day.
Not the best, but one of the most beautiful and cutest Sportscars today! I love this car right from the start! This is combining history, heritage and modern car building standards at it's best! I wish I had 70.000 Euro for a A110S...😉

Nice review Joe. As soon as the majority of other brands wake up and stop with the 'power wars', not to mention the bigger wheels, brakes etc that go along with it to cope with the power and increase in dimensions and focus on making cars smaller & lighter the car world will be a better place. The mx-5 should have had an engine like this ... miss some grunt in mine. But there is almost no telling on how it is to drive a light car. It has to be driven otherwise its difficult to understand how awesome a light car is and what it does to the driving experience.

The seats have three seat heights and the design brief was to fit 6' 6" drivers. Most owners have the seats set to the lowest position - you should fit when that's done!
Surprised you found headroom to be an issue. Was the seat on its lowest setting (the buckets need to be unbolted to adjust)? I’m 6’5 and found it fine but then I’m used to a Lotus Exige so the Alpine felt roomy 😄
I love the idea of it. A lighweight sportscar with usable power on the road. I haven't driven one and I'm sure it drives fantastically but I personally think the looks aren't great. I'd much rather a Cayman/Boxster/M2.
