My husband is a professional bassoonist and I'm a professional violinist, and THIS is FANTASTIC!!! We're close to the Air Force Academy and this is such an AWESOME cadre of musicians!! His "student teacher" Brian O'Donnell is now conducting for the Air Force in Germany!
I played this it was so hard especially where the violas have switch to treble clef. And i was in middle school.
If it helps, treble clef has a middle "B" as Alto clef has middle "C". So the middle of the treble clef is your first finger on your "A" string!

That English horn solo is so great. As an oboe player, that's my favorite part of the piece.
My youth orchestra just preformed this. What an honor to be in a full orchestra during the pandemic! 🎶
Cool! Stay safe out there.
i love that double reed expo
and i totally nailed that English horn solo when my symphony played this
picked up the bassoon because of that part
WOW!
My orchestra, the Southern Crescent Symphony is performing this at Spivey Hall this week. Can't wait!
When Johny comes marching home, Hurrah Hurra!!!!! AWESOME interpretation!!!!..Thanks for sharing!!
Beautiful musicianship
We're playing this in my orchestra too at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC
Our senior tubist Johny graduated and I wish he'd come marching home :(
My orchestra, the Bangor Youth Symphony, is performing this soon, and there's literally no way we could top this performance.
This is phenomenal.
Glorious. I grew up with this arrangement. Mom had it on an LP and I knew these kids would play it fabulously. Awesome arrangement by Morton Gould.
Are you studying this for a contest called 'Music Memory'?
And if you aren't, are you studying this for ANY contest?
Tell me your answer in the REPLY section.
I am
This isnt an arrangement, it's completely different from the original.
I love this piece!
Thanks!
If I was performing this, I probably would've whispered:
"If I bang my head on this instrument a few times, I might die!
Or maybe I might die from nervousness".
Niceville's Eagle Pride is playing this for their halftime show this season.
when you make it in to this band, you earn the rank of Technical Sergeant automatically. So yes, only NCOs. But some of them are literally fresh out of basic training
Playing this in my orchestra, at Carnegie hall. So excited!

I love this song
FABULOUS!!
Also known as the song that is the bane of my existence. I still can’t play this 100% correctly
Bravo!
If memory serves, it was the introductory music to one of the National TV networks news programs--CBS or NBC--cannot recall which one. It intro'ed either Walter Cronkite or Huntley-Brinkley.
so im in middle school and i have to learn this in 19 days for Festival of Gold. why is life like this.
Good luck Iliana! It's a wonderful piece. Practice practice practice, but above all, have FUN with it!
We're going to be performing with my community orchestra in 2 weeks! I'm very excited
Im even studying this for UIL in my school
In the wind band arrangement that we are playing. It has the Bari sax on running sixteenths. At 144. In modulated arpeggios intermixed with runs. Needlessly to say I want to die
Jake Franke LMAO
thats good
God bless America forever.
Make America Great Again With Korea. Everlasting Friendship With Korea.
Kim Jong Un is a fat joke who oppresses the North Korean people. It is together with American and Korean efforts to behead the tyrant.
We are playing this in my middle school symphony without it being arranged by any one
me when listening: :)
me when playing: AAAAAAAAAAA :)
What a coincidence. The bassoon player in my high school band also has curly red hair.
AMERICAA WOOOOOOOOOOO
Wow! At 1:31 we see and hear a fabulous female timpanist.

Something like that.
If you know the lyrics (if there are any...) please tell me them in the REPLY section.

Well, that's all I need to know Aly.
But please, if you can or have time, please learn the other lyrics.
I would love to know the lyrics of one of the USA's most honored songs. (At least I think it's one of the most honored songs.)
It's a song from our Civil War in the 1800's. The lyrics are about wishing that the soldiers will come home safely.
When Johnny comes marching home again,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give him a hearty welcome then
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The men will cheer and the boys will shout
The ladies they will all turn out
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home.
The old church bell will peal with joy
Hurrah! Hurrah!
To welcome home our darling boy,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The village lads and lassies say
With roses they will strew the way,
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home.
Get ready for the Jubilee,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give the hero three times three,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The laurel wreath is ready now
To place upon his loyal brow
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home.
Let love and friendship on that day,
Hurrah, hurrah!
Their choicest pleasures then display,
Hurrah, hurrah!
And let each one perform some part,
To fill with joy the warrior's heart,
And we'll all be glad when Johnny comes marching home

My mom told me there were actually LYRICS to this song.
When Johnny comes marching home again
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give him a hearty welcome then
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The men will cheer and the boys will shout
The ladies they will all turn out
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
The old church bell will peal with joy
Hurrah! Hurrah!
To welcome home our darling boy,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The village lads and lassies say
With roses they will strew the way,
And we'll all feel gay
When Johnny comes marching home.
Get ready for the Jubilee,
Hurrah! Hurrah!
We'll give the hero three times three,
Hurrah! Hurrah!

alwilliam How gay do you feel by knowing those lyrics? 🤣🧚🏼♀️💃🏼
I think I mostly see master Sargents and senior master Sargents
Sergeant*
Also, the USAF doesn't have a rank called, sergeant. It begins at SSgt, TSgt, MSgt, SMSgt, CMSgt. The only time you wouldn't greet an AF NCO as sergeant is if they were a Chief Master Sergeant, in which case they would be greeted as Chief.
DIALOGO (dialogo) EN PANAMERICANA (panamericana)
Is it just NCOs that can join the band/orchestra?
Yes. And officers are the band/orchestra leaders. That's how it works.
Anyone in music memory here
Me
I’m in grade 5
CYNTHIA JIANG I’m in grade 5
CYNTHIA JIANG I’m nervous mm team test tmr
I did music memory when I was in elementary for all three years. Now I am in high school and I got to perform this piece in an orchestra for the elementary kids in music memory.
Don't u mean the chairforce
I was once a young A1C in SAC. A mechanic. I still remember my sergeant telling me one night after an alert that if it were real and once the bombers were off, our next order of business would be to simply wait to get vaporized. Sobering thought. Don't try to tell me who has courage, and who doesn't.
are you in the army or something?
Chair does sound better, I guess.
But that would mean 1) they would be on land and 2) they would probably be on chairs,
hoping to move to some action.

Super music de westerns! Film avec John Wayne! 😂😂
This is the best comment
its like the ants are marching one by one hara hara
I KNOW IT IS but im not mad
Well, it is due to the fact that "The Ants Go Marching" is among the tunes sung to the tune of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home."
Pasodoble?
Lmao the 6th grade orchestra is performing this at my school cause they are "really advanced".
easy
I hate dis song
Personally I feel the string section is too overpowering over the brass, which is the real section put to work in this piece. More brass, less strings and it would sound better for me
Probably owing to mic placement.
On another note, is this Schermmerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville??
O nu e voie mamii😩🇺🇸
Gata
A fine performance. But can't you at least provide the name of the conductor or a list of the players. Just because you're in the military, you don't become a nameless hord. An orchestra is made up of individual players that should be given credit.
This must have been completely embarrassing. The entire orchestra is out of tune
They were out of tune the whole time
did anyone ask?
