I played that SQ Nike driver for a couple of seasons and I absolutely loved it. It still baffles me why it was so hated. It was long with a great ball flight.
I was playing for my high school team as a brand new golfer. I went to golf town like 2 years after the SQ came out. I hit every used driver in Golf Town with my bad, OTT swing. the SQ gave me the straightest, longest, and most consistent drives by a mile. I think I was hitting it like, 20 yards further with it. In actually play it was kinda hit or miss, but the sound it made would make people I played with jump when on the tee box. After a couple years I went back to Golf Town and did the same thing, and the Nike Covert was the best by far again. Now I've got the Nike Vapor Pro, which I think was their last driver they made.
@@lookaquarter I agree. The SQ was the only driver I ever hit that I could always go after it because I always knew clubface would be square at impact gave me a ton of confidence. I couldn’t work the ball well with it but I could take such aggressive lines it didn’t matter. Every time a see that club in videos I smile. Until they make fun of it lol. Great driver. Now three back fusions later I just give lessons and remember the days of hitting that driver lol.
The sound was absolutely horrid. It was like an aluminum softball bat, but louder and higher pitched.
Should've gotten him the square driver. That thing had such an offensive noise that he'd likely never hit driver so that he didn't have to hear it.
I played that Nike driver for several years, when I went for a fitting at American Golf to look at changing it performed at least as well as anything new they gave me. Finally changed it when G410 LST came out
That Adams Idea 2014 8 iron is a mainstay in my bag. Great set and I scored a HIO (my only one) from 150 yards with it. Gaz can hit that one a long long way

An iron set I played for while, got rid of, and then regretted it is the Nike VR S Covert 2 forged irons. They were a beautiful set the played well and felt fantastic. If I could find a set cheap in a place like that, I'd consider picking them up. It's a shame they stopped making clubs because some of them (NOT the Sasquach Driver) were really good.

Recently visited the UK after living in Australia for the last nine years. Managed to fit in a round of golf and had to hire clubs. The Nike SQ driver was I the bag so I gave it a go. Feels terrible and sounds even worse. Teed off on the first and disturbed the gents on a green about 50 metres away. Definitely should have put that in the bag James.

I had that covert drive. If he catches the middle, you're looking at bombs. But it is unforgiving.
One of my friends still plays a Nike SQ driver, not the square backed one. It hurts my ears but it really works for him. Great trajectory and goes far.
You did a great job. If I was doing this I’d buy ladies or senior clubs in left hand. If possible, I’d get extra long or short shafts too.

I literally just bought that same Adams Idea 2014 8 iron as a random club this last weekend.
If I was trying to stitch up my mate like you are I would get the most expensive set I could , right handed, yes you guessed he's left handed😂😅
If it were my golf buddies, those Ricky Fowler irons would be the move. Wedges with no bounce. A putter from minigolf with no alignment aid. Drive and 3 wood with the smallest heads possible.

The Squatch is fkn amazing though. Sure it sounds like a kid crashing their bike into the garden shed everytime you hit it, but it's stupidly forgiving

I say this every time you do one of these challenges. I would love to see you do a left handed challenge maybe against Foxy.
I would of bought all forged irons and had the lofts and lie angles changed LOL... if you could get them in graphite shafts, but have it be Senior flex, A flex and Regular flex.
I thought Gaz would be getting a Callaway FT-i 3 wood. If the square wasn't happening in the driver I had hoped at least in 3 wood.
I always buy used clubs based upon which clubs go straightest. As a senior player I need to usually club up for distance anyway. Straight works for me. Most difficulty is forced carries so I try to avoid them by hitting left or right to a safe landing area whenever possible.
That feeling when he pulls the driver you’ve been playing for the last 10 years….. I guess time to upgrade

I had a Nike SQ driver when I first started and dropped handicap with it then I had a Nike Covert 2 driver and that wasn’t bad either to be honest

I would have found him a nice Bullseye light blade putter. The real blade putter. Great putter but it’s not familiar to today’s golfers unless they’re into mini golf.

It’s amazing you can get those single irons for so cheap. Here in the US, guys snap those up and sell them for $30 - $40 for a single club and gouge the buyers. Used clubs in the US are rarely as good of a deal as your showing, it’s a bummer.
Yeah I watched a skratch golf video where a dude went to play with clubs he bought from second hand places .. and he got charged 50 dollars for a random unknown brand 6 iron that had the leading edge ground down to nothing .. in the uk no one would even want that it’d be in a scrap heap

I used a buddies Nike SQ driver in a tournament.... the way I remember it was that driver bombed

Say what you want about it, but for me that square headed Sasquatch was the longest & straightest driver I've hit. We'll pretend that it's because mine was in lefty lol. I will admit that the sound is just awful, though. 😂
OMG hahaha some of those clubs looked horrendous, although I must defend Nike a tiny bit, I used to have the SQ square 3 wood and could hit it really well. It's the only Nike club I've ever had but for me it worked at the time when I just couldn't hit a driver for love nor money, now I have titleist TSi 1 Driver and I love it best club in my bag. Can't wait for this video.

I think it would be great for your match if you both had a caddy, and you called which club you wanted for each shot, without having seen or practised with your clubs before. Otherwise you would avoid a club that was terrible from the outset.
With the loft on the arm lock putter... could it be used as a chipper... maybe a video idea

Should have gone with left handed clubs 😂, or maybe just the irons to give him a little chance.
Also the special wedge should have been the worse chipper you could find or a 70 degree wedge.
Should also include the worse ball but has to be something produced after 2000

James cracking video but seriously?... the Covert is a brilliant Driver, I have it in my bag and I love it. I find it forgiving and is much better shape than the one you picked for Gaz. I wouldn't ever swap it unless it broke. Can't wait to see the match with these clubs. ^_^
