  • "Taiwan" Form Practice Video, Back view and Mirrored view, Slow pace, moderate stance. The turning of the head and misplaced visual focus in the mirrored view is a result of having to follow the first performance on an off-camera video monitor.
    What we call the “Taiwan” form comes to us through Tai Chi Center of Madison founder Tricia Yu who learned it from a senior student of her Teacher, Liu Pei Ch’ung in Taiwan in 1972. The form consists of Cheng Man Ch’ing’s 37 postures with an inserted section of 17 movements incorporating most of the movements from the long form that CMC had left out. The sequence (but not the styling) follows that of J.J. Song (Jyh Juan Soong). The resulting form is still substantially shorter than the Yang Cheng Fu "Yang Long Form". The styling and details are primarily inspired by Tricia Yu and Ben Lo with a few borrowings from WCC Chen. Any shortcomings in the performance are mine, not theirs!
