A buddy and I developed our own saying off that which is “a hand in the bush is better than killing one bird with two stones, eh?” 😅
The meaning here is, you’ll never know what you’ll get from life’s unknown bushes, as many people take two shots at the same ol same ol and wind up just getting the single bird. In the end wasting their opportunities and never taking a leap.

Jim Carry didn't "fall off" so to speak, he walked away from Hollywood while making Kick Ass 2. There's a couple interviews about it. Check'em out.

In 2015 his girlfriend was found dead. It was ruled suicide via a drug overdose.
He ended up going back to a former girlfriend - though she was married at the time.
Well, she also died in 2015, apparently from prescription drugs that he allegedly paid for. Her husband, and her mother, both filed wrongful death lawsuits against him.
@Britcarjunkie if I remember correctly it sent him down a real existential crisis and he just kinda broke as a human I don't know that he has really recovered or come back from that place. It's one of those thing that if he dies and we find out it was self inflicted I don't think I'll be that suppressed.

I think he outgrew his own schtick.
He essentially admits to himself that who he was was an act and he couldn't do it as a 50 or 60 year old. It must have been exhausting.
He's simply entered a new stage in life. None of should aim to be the same person at 60 as we were at 30.
He also lived a life of wealth success and fame and discovered it's true what they say. It's not everything.

Me neither in 2003 most of us white people didnt care we loved it Morgan Freeman awesome!!! you know most of us love black people we dont care about color are race bait everything like some people today still do and its sad this is 2024 not 1860 are 1920 are 1950 some people just dont want to move forward in life keep living in the past and thats why whites and blacks still cant get alone today so so sad.
It's the least surprising casting ever, lol. Somehow the image of God with the face and voice of Morgan Freeman is just very believable :D

I would like to recommend Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, an excellent Jim Carrey movie. His performance in that is heartbreaking! Another more dramatic role for him was The Number 23, which is a thriller.

I thought jim carrey just realised he had dedicated years to an industry that hasnt really given him the happiness or meaning he wanted from life, seen a few clips where hes bit weird but seemed cool - just had enough money an comfort to not be stuck in the hard reality like the rest of us lol seen a few comments here saying hes been wierd or gone bad but dont know why
From my understanding, James just got tired of the Hollywood machine and realized he wasn’t happy. I’ve heard he’s been putting a bunch of time into painting. Not sure if all of that is true or not, but what I do hope he’s happy wherever he is. He was a big part of my upbringing, but he is a person just like the rest of us. And I hope that he’s doing well ❤
Yup, he quit for a while... painted a lot. "Comedians in cars getting coffee" has an interview that covers some of it. I think he came back to acting in the sonic movies to try to inspire the new generation. He realized it is hard to help or change things without that famous lime light.

He never really fell off. He said in a couple interviews he went on a hiatus and about not wanting to be "Jim Carrey" the actor anymore. Kinda like a self reflection journey he went on, staying out of the media. But if you havent seen it, his performance in Me, Myself and Irene is easily one of his best!

The car he drove is a Saleen S7 Twin Turbo that has a top speed of 248.
It was in the late 2000’s when Carey started to fade. He did some movies that fell flat, and people just weren’t going to watch him anymore. If you want to watch him act, my favorite is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Ashley is great.

This movie's got a sequel, Evan Almighty(2007), in which Steve Carrell's character, Evan and his family are the protagonists. Also, Morgan Freeman is reprising his role. I think you would like it.

Also have you seen Once Bitten? It's a SUPER fun mid 80's horror comedy starring a VERY young Jim Carrey (almost a decade before his big break) that's Fast Times with vampires.

Evan Almighty with Steve Carell, the follow-up to this movie, is really good. I know some other ppl have commented here about this, Jim Carrey's gone through a lot over the last number of years, especially depression.

I’ve been a fan of Ashleigh’s since her very first reaction (Star Wars) where she legitimately fell for a comment that said that Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca were going to get it on in Empire Strikes Back.

The first movie where Jim fell off was after the Number 23. It’s actually a pretty good movie but it was the first real bomb he had other than The Cable Guy. Which is also excellent.
9:35 Notice how Bruce's voice is different when he reads the phone number? In the original theatrical release, they used an actual phone number and it resulted in the real-life owner of that number getting non-stop prank calls asking to speak to God. So in the home video/DVD release, they changed it to a fake phone number and did a voice-over.

I love Awkward Ashleigh. She was actually the first movie reactors I watched. She only had a handful of reactions when I started watching her.
Jim Carrey definitely did not fall off. He “retired” from acting and focuses more on his art and design works and has published a couple of novels. I put Jim in the same category as Keanu Reeves - he’s lovable, a straight shooter but kind, introspective, and spiritual. If you haven’t seen them, check out both “Man on the Moon” (1999) and “Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond” (2017). The former is a biopic/drama/comedy where Jim plays the late Andy Kaufman and really shows his acting range, delivers an outstanding performance. The latter is a documentary, a BTS of the Man in the Moon, which shows Jim’s interesting transformation into Andy and ultimately into a new more enlightened Jim.

Robin Williams has greater range than Will Ferell, Jim Carey, & especially Ryan Reynolds. Jim definitely has the physical comedy throne, though.
