Just stumbled across Chris and the Punch Brothers music for the first time this evening and have just spent a lovely hour trawling through the vids. Great playing and a brilliant feel. Heartwarming and inspirational stuff especially for me as I'm moving from guitar to mandolin.
Live performance is different to records, and I think impromptu music (whether listening to it or playing yourself), played just to play and with less worry for imperfections, has a flavour of joy unattainable by either of them
I don't know weather its the speakers on my computer but most mandolins on youtube sound a bit feeble. I've got one of the cheapest mandolins you can get yet it really packs a punch.

Chris Eldridge "Oh shit, i don't remember how this goes at all"
*>nonchalantly executes a bluegrass facemelter*
Chris Eldridge is one of my favorite players ...and singers.

Thile's right hand work is just.. Unbelievable.
Carter Shilts He's been playing since he was 5 and he's 31 so that what? 26 years. A lot of experience goes with a lot skill.
His left ain't too shabby either :)
Nonpareil
Yea 2 rights!!
He is absolute virtuosity... His buddy ain't bad either.. I am hooked on Thile
This tune sounds better as a guitar/mandolin duet than with the full band
Would you know the song name by any chance
