As an Asian parent...this is exactly how we are. We push our children to strive for the best; to earn the best possible grades, etc. But...I agree that we need to do it LOVINGLY and no public embarrassment.
Yes. Her dad saying these types of things is the reason she is where she is today. Because of the way she was raised. I appreciate this type of a father who pushes their kid to be their absolute best! I mean what’s better than that?
This is completely off topic. But do you guys ever look back at your childhood and wish that your parents didn’t impose their interests on you, but rather had the financial luxury of allowing you to explore yours? I really wanted to play the violin when growing up. But we didn’t have the financial means and I had to resort to following in the footsteps of her and her siblings - I’m now a teacher. Which isn’t horrible, it just wasn’t my first love.
There’s a site called Skills Share where you pay a small sum every month and can access lessons online. It’s 2020, get yourself a violin and learn even a few songs for yourself from the comfort of your home. It’s never too late
I can relate. My parents are both retired teachers. I’m a teacher now and growing up, my mother pushed it on me but to be honest, it actually is my calling lol

So funny to hear Jeannie say that she doesn't want kids as she had said for years. Now she calls baby Monaco the greatest gift that she's ever received..just another reason why we just can't ever say never.
Their chemistry is so Real. I wish the producers would let the fifth wheel go. These four are so comfortable and real with one another. It's been a lot of racial talk since the other one joined them.

Fostering and encouragement are different from tough love

I agree with Jeannie, pressure is not bad. Too much is bad, but if you know your kid can do better, It's YOUR job as a parent to push them to be their best, in love.
I love “The Real”! All of the ladies are beautiful and they speak real facts and give their positive and opened opinions on certain situations involving celebrities or what’s going on in life. They’ll show respect for the younger generation when it comes to them discussing situations involving little kids. They care about what they’re doing.
I completely agree with Jeannie about the pressure being productive (and with Loni about the public embarrassment) I went to one of the top 5 high schools in the nation for most every sport and whenever my friends from other schools came to my practices they were always shocked with how rough our coaches talked to us. I put pressure on my oldest daughter all the time...she achieved so much...it's coming from a good place, she knows...I'm glad I did. I didn't want her to struggle like me...
Ever since Jeannie made that racial joke about the dark meat on the side, I’m now becoming aware of the many foot-in-mouth incidents she’s experienced on the show, and how easy it is for her to fall victim. Olympian coaches are like that... it’s a very different state of mind. They often go all or nothing. Her dad is actually one of her biggest fans and he is very proud of her. When your profession is sport and you’re in competition you focus for the win, especially in solo sports.
Loni doesn't like Jeanie, the producers kept telling Loni to shut it down and interrupt Jeanie in her long talks. Look how Loni listed Jeanie qualities, talkative and colon cleanse, come on now, that wasn't uplifting and empowering sisterhood even if you're being honest, there is a tact to how
This is every competitive athletes parent. I’m sure he is only saying this based on the standard his daughter has set for herself. Tough love works sometimes and he knows what his daughter can handle.
Nah dude he’s wrong period. He shat on her AFTER her LAST Olympic competition. What was that supposed to do? Would have made sense if it had been her 1st competition or something. He just did it to make her feel bad. Attacking someone for no reason isn’t tough love it’s just abuse.
Lindsey is from Minnesota. She hurt herself a few years ago. She came back to the Olympic s just after healing. She is my hero. She still won a medal. I wish to have lunch with her one day in Mpls. Real set that up and I love u gals. I hope u continue in programming.💗
I know this is old but When jeanies said bl-Asian and Asian she mean like Asians are smart their parents are strict they want their kids to be A students and not B students . But I can see how people feel ever since dark meat on the side joke gone bad
Jeanie is right... I’m asian and when I came in 2nd in anything it was a big deal. I’m also the first born of the first generation of Americans and there’s a lot of pressure put on me to succeed.
This is a great table. In fact, I like just them nobody else with them, I'm sorry! They make me laugh , learn things and change my point of view. I expect to see them all together for years to come.
for me when my mum tells me i didn’t do well, it makes me worse coz i already put so much pressure on myself and i get so mad when i don’t get 1st place.
I’m adopted from China. I pushed myself very hard in school because everyone around me was doing better. I have been told countless times that I only started doing well because of my genes not recognizing the efforts I put forth.
