    Bill is so great! His authenticity and passion for life and painting is remarkable. I grew up watching Bob Ross and I think I've seen every episode of his multiple times, but now seeing Bill, I realize he is the original source of the persona Bob grew into. Not just in painting, but in the entire worldview and philosophy he brought along with it. Bill thought it would be beautiful to leave something behind in the world, and these videos being made available here are part of that legacy he hoped for! :)

    • @westoftherockies
      @westoftherockies Год назад

      nah, the persona bob grew into came from bill? they're the complete opposite.. bill is agressive, loud, intense, bob is nothing like that....bill is a much better painter but bob's show really isn't about painting, bob helps people relax, watching bob is like taking tranquilizers, bob's personality, soft talking, easygoing, mellow etc, thats what made bob ross a legend on tv, most people didn't watch him to learn to paint.

    • @400_billion_suns
      @400_billion_suns Год назад +1

      @@westoftherockies Their outward energy is different, but the way they saw the beauty of life and nature, and how it connected to painting, had a lot of similarities. If you watch Bob's first episodes, he used a lot of Bill's catchphrases too. Bill was the yin to Bob's yang, IMO.

    • @lh3272

      This is so true. I'm an oil painter but I never tackled landscape painting. I decided this summer to start learning these unfamiliar techniques. I started with Bob Ross of course and eventually found my way to Bill Alexander and WOW..he adds his own personality and emotion to his art. When I'm watching and learning from Bob Ross, I just feel like I'm following a software tutorial. Not to say Bob was not an amazing and talented painter. There is just something about Bill that just doesn't come through with Bob.

    • @pidhajnyk

    I can't imagine why anyone would put themselves through the sheer torture of painting like this = why on earth start with a black canvas? What on earth is the point of that? HE could do this - he was a professional painter long before he invented this technique - but if you were starting to paint, I just don't think this is how you'd best learn. But - it has to be said: Alexander was SO much more professional, and so much a better painter, than Bob Ross.
