You don't have to unscrew the front bumper, I have done this several times without any issues
Just because it worked for you doesn't mean it works for everyone. It's much easier to unscrew the bumper. I've done it too without unscrewing the bumper but find it way easier unscrewing it.

Screw that, I’ll just buy some depo lights for $600, I like the ones on my 2002 330i the lenses just clip on lol
