  • Our Locksmith Service Prices 2023 - ‪@fasteddyskeysexpress‬ Well recently I had a request for locksmith prices from one of my followers on ‪@RUclips‬ . In disbelief that I hadn't posted prices earlier on this channel I felt compelled to create this video and post it. All are prices start with a $85.00 trip charge and parts and labor. In locksmith services I find it completely impossible to make all our prices a flat fee. The math just wouldn't ad up. So I talked about:
    - Lock Rekey Service
    - Residential Lockout Service
    - Commercial Lockout Services
    - Residential Lock Installation
    - Commercial Lock Installation
    - Door Closer Replacement And Installation
    - Small Format Lock Installation

Great info, thanks for sharing this, very helpful for new folks to the trade - even more helpful than the LL pricing survey thing 😁

Eddy, thank you so much for making this video! I just started my business after doing locksmithing as a hobby since 2005 (When I was 15.), and am a bit lost when it comes to pricing. Currently my price list is the following. Tell me what you think
Service (trip) fee $78 (For jobs within my service area. Anything beyond that is approximately an extra $5 per block)
Lockouts:Just service fee (Most vehicle/commercial/residential unlocks don’t require much “labor” lol)
Rekey:$18 per cylinder (Includes two keys)
    Duplicates
    Single-side:$3.50
    Double-sided.$6.25
Deadbolt replacement:$30 (Excluding cost of new lock)
    Fresh deadbolt install:$60
Adams-Rite Hardware replacement:$55 (Excluding cost of new lock)

Most your pricing sounds good. But when I do rekeys I give them 5 new keys free for the Visit/Trip charge instead of giving them X amount of keys per lock that is rekeyed. When I sell the customer a new lock I Rekey it for free to what ever key works their other doors! Then charge $35 for the installation replacement. $55 for a Fresh Installation where there was never a lock before! Fresh installation on Aluminum Commercial doors is $155 labor + Trip Charge.

I’m up here in Toronto Canada and my boss charges $125Cad for trip charge and that covers the first half hour labour. Each half hour after the first is 45$. Rekey is 20$ per cylinder for standard rekey and 25$ for master pinning. 3$ per key for the standard schlage/weiser/kwikset key duplication. And then of course parts.

Interesting! And I can understand why! Toronto is a Huge city! And only committed customers will schedule I guess. My pricing comes from many locksmiths that have come and gone in my territory! But posting pricing that pays me more for taking my time is to constraining! I think our pricing in the end totals them same number of dollars as your company! But my pricing allows me to service ay least 2 extra job locations per van per day than you bosses company! At least I think so. I have to keep the FAST in Fast Eddys to keep up my reputation. LOL!

My pricing somewhat cheaper, but trip charges usually higher.
I’m up in International Falls,MN. Sparse population means lots of travel to several areas of Northern Mn.

Well I can understand being a little cheaper. But I have been locksmithing for 38 years! I believe my experience deserves a premium pricing! There are other company's that have been around 100 yrs. They charge about 25% more than myself. Plus the cost of living in Minneapolis is more expensive.

Glad to know I'm not much different in pricing from you down here in Iowa. And in these changing times, it's good to know I'm keeping up with the Eddys...lol.

Wish MN would get more locksmiths, I used to go there but wont anymore because of what the state has turned into. Get calls everyday wanting me to work in MN.

New subscriber here. Thank you so much for being so transparent with the pricing. I am thinking about starting a mobile lock service and this is fantastic!!I am in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia. My education is a PhD in chemical engineering however I have truly gotten tired of the wokies that I had to put up with. I always had a hobby in lock picking sport and I would rather work harder for myself than have someone with less experience who was hired on a quota telling me what I have to do. Is the 2004 key blank directory the best book to obtain for cross referencing keys?

Wow well it is interesting that you would be willing to leave so much education behind you. Well if your going to do FULL service locksmithing you will need 80k-120k to set up a service truck properly. As far as a key reference goes. I would suggest any ILCO key catalog book! Usually any Locksmith wholesale Co. would be willing to send you a free one as long as you have them send it to your company name. And to be fair becoming a locksmith will not make you a wealthy person. And you need to learn skills that help you market on Google My Buisiness & other social media. its allot of work.

@@fasteddyskeysexpress RUclips did not tell me that you got back to me. I have had some positions that I loved. I was laboratory manager for a metallurgical laboratory. I loved getting up and going to work every day. The company was sold right after the plandemic and all the equipment was moved to Alabama I believe. The day I left there was a Friday afternoon and I called another company that developed powdered metal catalysts. Talked to them on Friday even among and started Monday morning. I headed the research department and developed extraction processes for a compound that was used in Rolls Royce jet engines. This compound has a unique property in that it is flame and heat proof and also does not cause an immune response in the body. It was slated to be used in implant manufacturing. There was some type of problems in the supply line so the research department was shut down and they just became a recycling plant for high grade metals. I left and went to a pharmaceutical company where I developed a metrology department but I had a problem with all the people there. Maybe I am not a team player or maybe I like working for myself but my dream is to open a shop that specializes in pre war race cars and has a machine shop and foundry to make any parts needed. I took a lock mist course with my Grandfather who became a locksmith after being a Television repairman was no longer a thing. I loved it and I ahem good memories from that time. He has passed away but I have all the equipment so I am going to give it a go. I have an Ilco catalog and I have mostly all the tools i will need . I can always fall back on my education if I have to.

I can relate. I think! I don't mind being a team player but its hard to be a puppet for a company that may be around tomorrow and maybe not! But more importantly its nice doing work on my timeline. If I can be of any assistance in the future let me know.

@@fasteddyskeysexpress Thank you so much my friend. I will let you know how things go. I should have my cards tomorrow. I am going to go to realtors and introduce myself and give them a card . I am going to tell them I am mobile so I can do openings and re-keys as well as put all locks in use with the same key. In apartment buildings, I could do a master if they wish. Also I am going to tell them that I know they need keys made quite often so I am going to say I can call them a certain day of the week and then come to the office to make copies of keys. They can call me about anything else. For the beginning I just have a card that says locksmith services. I am going to also do work by referral. As soon as I have even a couple clients I will find a name, and do all the legal stuff to for a business. I believe it will happen fairly quickly I looked for a locksmith near me and nearly every one was a referral service Only one great one that I know about and that guy is almost retired. he opens at 10 and closes at 4 and doesn't do mobile calls.
