Whatever happens in Game 5, the Canadiens gave something to their fans in this game before heading back to Tampa Bay. It's a long way back still, but at least they kept the cup inside the case for another day.
Habs played better with Vegas than Tampa but they played their best tonight than they did the last 2 games prior
Steve- as an experiment, don’t wear a Habs jersey for the rest of the series. If the Habs win, never wear a Leafs jersey again next year..maybe it’ll bring them some luck 😂

As a Bolts fan with tickets to Game 5 (first ever live Cup game), that was the weirdest experience emotionally I think I've ever had watching a game. First off, there are no guarantees in any sport and no game can ever be taken for granted, period. Montreal just showed why. That said, I actually got the most satisfaction from last year's Cup win through just being genuinely happy and relieved for the players after all the humiliation they'd been through. Seeing their eventual redemption was awesome and honestly inspiring.
However, I'd be lying if I said watching them celebrate in an empty arena with no fans, after all those years of heartbreak building to that moment, didn't make me feel a tad relatively disappointed for them. Finally seeing this team win the Cup was an incredible experience that I wouldn't trade for anything, but honestly my first thought was "I hope they go back next year so they can win it with fans." Hockey players just work too damn hard to win a Cup to not get that full experience that Covid kind of robbed them and the city of to an extent. The amount of potential revenue downtown Tampa lost being shut down during a Cup Final run was a major, major bummer.
So what I'm saying is, given the circumstances, I definitely wanted them to get it done in four. I did not want Montreal to get any momentum because they're an extremely dangerous team with momentum, and when you have the mix of vets and young dumb guys that they do, I'm pretty nervous. BUT all I'll say is as Stanley Cup Final overtime losses go, that was definitely the least difficult one I've ever had to accept.
such an amazing goal to win the game by Montreal. They kill a 4 minute penalty and a minute later, make one of the best goals in overtime. Just watching those 4 minutes make it worth watching the whole game alone last night. I was really hoping that Montreal wasn't going to get swept, because of how hard Montreal has worked to get where they are, and now, even if they lose game 5, they will no longer be swept. Even if they lose game 5, Canada can not be more proud of them!

It's so rare for Canada to have a team in the finals and I was gonna be real sad if the Habs left Montreal without a win at home. Thank the Hockey Gods for that win. Of course, it had to be in OT, cuz THAT'S HOW THE CANADIENS DO.
Tampa might win Game 5, and it's very possible, but on this night, I am happy for the Habs and their fans.

If anyone told Steve at the end of the regular season that he would be streaming the cup finals with the Habs in them he would have They-lost-to-a-Zamboni-driver-type-of-meltdown lost it. (BTW love these game streams!!)
Correction: Patrick Maroon's "biggest goal of his nhl career" was the one that ended the series with Dallas in 2019 😜

Man if Montreal comes back and wins the Finals it’ll be THE MOST historic thing to happen in NHL history. Specially with that 4min penalty advantage Tampa had. They were this👌close to finishing Montreal.
I was at the 93 series and Habs won a record number of overtime wins against L.A.
well, I mean, if game 2 was going to who played better, it would've been a 2-2 series now. That being said, TOR was this👌close to winning it in games 5 and 6 too, but didn't. Sure TBL is better than TOR, but see that Vin Diesel quote in Fast and Furious (1) about winning by an inch or winning by a mile -> winning
