Make Your Presets work for Humbuckers

- For my Presets visit: johnnathancord... I'm a single coil player predominantly (unless playing Jazz) - and so I can sympathise when folks say "I'm a humbucker player, what do I do with these presets" or - what do I do when I switch guitars? Obviously Single Coils have a different kind of sound to Humbuckers - can we use EQ to make presets more friendly to guitar swaps?

I use the Helix looper at the beginning of the chain so I can make adjustments without playing simultaneously.
A trick I do is to add an EQ block and turn it on whenever I switch to my other guitar.
Mark Knopfler had some type of Pete Cornish device to compensate for guitar swaps in pre-historic times
This is where I mod and save presets listed for my specific guitars. With hundreds of spaces, I'm not worried about running out of space.
Boss units (I use gt1) have a setting for changing sc to hb and vice versa. I thought it was just a gimmick but having tried it, it works very well!
Sweet! I've always turned down my volume to half when I play your presets but a lot of times they have a unique sound on full blast - not exactly as awesome as your tone but it has it's own vibe, this eq block is a neat little trick. will definitely try it. Thanks Jon
This is a general problem: digital or analogue (real amps and pedals). I am predominantly a strat player, using my tele through the Strat settings is fine. However, if I use my Les Paul it is a compromise. I have a graphic equaliser spare and I may try too use it to sort some of EQ problems with LP out - the volume change is also an issue.
I use a Boss GE-7 added into the FX loop to make adjustments for SC and HB.
Do you know Jack Thammarat？ He is also HELIX user. His playing and sound are awesome. I don't care HM or SC. I play both Les Paul and Strato with HX Stomp. Of course use Low High Cut or 10 Band Graphic.

I understand there might be times where you want both guitars to sound similar or not so drastically different....but isn't the point of changing guitars to have a different sound? I understand it might be to don't completely remake your patches or sounds...hahaha thanks tho, Ive been wondering this myself also. I mainly play a strat but switch from time to time to a Les Paul and a semi hollow body guitar.

Cool. I think this is a really important topic, and it's very helpful to see your approach on how to compensate for the tonal differences between Humbuckers and Single Coil pickups. This approach could also apply to IRs. I think you got good results when applied to your Humbucker guitar Preset.
I'm hoping I can achieve something similar to what you did, but limited to one EQ Block on my HX Stomp - Not sure if that's realistic or not. Thanks 👍😎

I am doing my presets - what I thought I would do is have two setlist with the same presets - one with them optimized for higher output/humbucker guitars and one optimized for lower output/single coil guitars.
do you make the volume amp in humbucker preset smaller than the single coils ?

The humbucker thru Eric Lead sounded like Joe Bonamassa. I liked it.
Because that's essentially who Joe Bonamassa is, EJ with HBs

I have been disappointed with a lot of downloaded patches because of this....gearing up to buy a strat guitar is going to be my overall answer to this problem.
There are very few questions that a Strat won't answer.
