I really love your videos! You are such a inspiration and thank you for sharing your education and where you got your bottles! I ordered a bunch and have been trying a bunch of your recipes. I'm so happy to learn more. I especially like this juice one, when I can I am getting a pressure cooker and a steam juicer :) I have a 16 month old so I love the NO sugar in these juices! Thanks again you are awesome
imstillworking, thanks to you I have nine bottles of pretty pear juice. I got the bottles from the place you recommended. I had to put about 2 gallon in the freezer waiting on the bottles. I guess that can be syrup and jelly. Just wanted to say a big thank you. Our youngest son can't wait to get some of that homemade pear syrup sent to him, off of ancient pear tree. Huge thank you!!
Awesome Vid... I used my steam juicer and got 12-12oz bottles and 6-16 oz bottles of juice, then I took the left over stuff from the canner and made 20 pints of apple sauce. All I did different was add cinnamon to the much...
I so enjoy your videos. You are always challenging me to try new things. I really appreciate what you do. I canned wild caught salmon this week. It was the first time and I also tried the Tattler lids.
Thank you! I really appreciate all the work you go to in researching the correct information and sharing it with all of us.:) This syrup looks SO yummy!
When I canned my apple juice this year I used one of those hand crank peeler, corer, slicers. We threw all the apple pulp into my steam juicer and let it work. When we were done we had lots of apple juice but all the apple pulp was run through my chinois and it made the most delicious applesauce and we also turned some into apple butter. My chickens ate some of the peels. The cores and the rest of the peels went into my compost pile so nothing was wasted. Next time you should try peeling and coring your apples so you end up with a bunch of applesauce with your juice instead of wasting the pulp.
@imstillworkin I've never seen them around here. A quick search recommended shredding them and adding to other foods. I like that idea. Growing sounds about like onions, 90+ days, liking cool weather. And deer really like them. With your beds and loose soil, I think you could grow them pretty well. I'm gonna order some seed and try them in the GH.
I am looking at the steam juicers. I see one on Amazon for $79. I wish I had order this last week as my grapes are ready. Think I will order it tonight. Might look a taller pot too since I will once again follow your lead and will will buy the bottles. Thanks for the video.
How long of a shelf life do you think the apple juice will have? I have also never seen one of those steam juicers before and I just think it's the neatest thing! What other juices have you made from it and what are the shelf lives of those? Thank you so much for inspiring me!
Every search finds different results, I have only just found this video. First of all, I love your gadgets there, those choppers made light work of those apples! I was looking at syrup making videos as I have just made orange syrup. I am involved in crowdfarming and thus get a large quantity of produce at a time, then make a number of desserts/ drinks/ preserves in a short space of time. I have sterilised my jars and filled them with my orange syrup and they are now in the fridge. You mentioned that it is not essential to water bath the jars having filled them, it is your preference to do that, but if not should they be kept in a fridge, say for a month? I would normally freeze such liquids as compotes etc, but I am looking at alternatives. Would be grateful for any advice! Thank you for uploading - I had the same issues with the bottles in my stockpot! They were slippery customers to get out and empty!
@imstillworkin One suggestion about the salmon, can it outside if you can. It has a very fishy smell. I guess it took a couple of days for that smell to leave the house. But the jars look great. I plan to try a jar this week and make salmon crokets. The Tattlers worked great. They worked the same as a regular lid. I didn't do all the jars with Tattlers since I was doing fish, but I used them on a few. I am totally sold on the Tattlers.
Hello there I loved your video! I saw you had yellow filled bottles next to the syrup ones what kind of juice were they? What other kinds of juice can you make? Can you make carrot juice? Orange juice? Thanks!
looks great.. where do you get those apple choppers at the beginning of the video or better yet what is the brand name??.. like them both! and would be handy.. we have liberty apples to harvest soon, thanks for the video always something new going on your way..:) have a good one ~Diane~
Thanks for the video this is the 1st time I've seen apple syrup being made. It looks like the thickening that I make on my apple dumplings and I'm thinking it is about the same and I could make that and use it for syrup.
so I did this but my syrup turned out way to thick. (my batch is tripled) is there anything I can do to save it? it's a lot of syrup to waste (it's more like pie filling right now
I have a bunch of 1 gallon glass wine bottles. Want to fill them with apple juice and grape juice from my steamer juicer then do a water bath. I do not know how to seal the tops of wine bottles. Do you think the bottle caps you use would work? Do you think 1 gallon glass wine bottles would work for long term storage of apple and grape juice. Any recommendations?
+Don Galbraith I don't know what you could use for tops but you'll probably have a hard time finding a pot deep enough to water bath those bottles and have at least one inch of water covering the tops.
i dont know if you was answered or not but here is the link, just look for the size of the bottle and then click accessories . www.fillmorecontainer.com/containers/sauce-47-syrup.html?product_list_limit=48
I am always tossing apples into the juicer for the grand kids because we have our own tress and it's free LOL...can I "can" this? I just have an electric juicer...suppose I should finish watching the video lol
Maybe you could try canning them in one of those steam canners. I saw one on Amazon. I ordered one from "Blain’s Farm & Fleet" yesterday. I couldn’t pass it up, it was regularly $39 marked down to $20. The theory behind it is, you can the high acid stuff in it but you only use about 2" of water. I can’t wait to try it with those bottles.
I know you said on your video that your bottles are 12 oz bottles but, I went to fillmorecontainer.com and the only thing I can find is 16 oz bottles. Are you sure they aren't 16 oz? I'm worried about ordering them because I can see that you didn't have much clearance room in your water bath canner. If you could let me know I would appreciate it. Thanks
Here's a link to the bottles I bought. Even though the description says "wholesale" they sold them to me. I hope it helps. www.fillmorecontainer.com/Wholesale-Barbecue-BBQ-Sauce-Bottles-P6.aspx?c=20
I had to put off ordering my bottles because the shipping prices to wyoming are high but, they are supposed to be here tomorrow. I can't wait! I found a web site that tells you how to make homemade karo syrup but, it has cream of tartar in it. I sent you the recipe and was asking for your advice on the discussion page but, not sure if you check that. If you could let me know what your thoughts are on it I would appreciate it. Thanks!
I'm so glad you're finding value in these videos. Comments like yours makes it all worthwhile!
That was great! You'll have to update us in a couple of months as to whether the seals stayed good. Blessings!
makes my mouth water , and brings back memories of my grandmothers apple butter

A turkey frier pot works great for most canning projects. I sterilize and water bath in mine using the basket to lift them out.
Thank you! I really appreciate all the work you go to in researching the correct information and sharing it with all of us.:) This syrup looks SO yummy!
I love all of your videos.
That was cool how you filled the bottles from the steam juicer. I bet that syrup would be great on waffles. :-)
love your videos!! Thanks for canning everything under the sun! I feel so inspired.

wow.... that looked SO GOOD!! Fresh apple juice.. that must be wonderful!!!
lol I bet you have all kinds of cool kitchen gadgets! :-)
I love my steam juicer... right now I'm just waiting for the grapes to come on! Now I'll have to give apples a try :)
Looks Delicious. Thank you. Can’t wait to try these.

How long is they syrup good for after it’s sealed? Do you store it in the fridge or is it shelf stable?

If you are using Grolsch swing-top bottles instead of quart mason jars, how does one sterilize the tops without damaging the gaskets? Thanks.

Doesn't steaming or boiling fruit juice removed certain amount of nutrients?
Love all your gadgets ! :)

Y is the color like that?
Reginald Green Apples went in with the skin on. Some of that color may have bled into the juice.

Cut those things down and throw in some fruit trees LOL
