  • The Maasai tribe are arguably the most famous tribe in Tanzania. It's very easy to visit the Maasai as a tourist. Tourists typically are greeted with a welcome dance, learn how the Maasai make fire and visit the Maasai houses. But this is just a very select window into Maasai life.
In this vlog I am going to visit the Maasai tribe to see a side to the Maasai that tourists rarely get to glimpse. We're going to watch the Maasai prepare one of their staple dishes right from the very beginning.
Buckle up, this is going to be a raw one...

The Maasai needs to go to developed countries and interview people on why they use weapons to kill other humans instead of just using weapons for hunting or killing animals for meat … now that would be shocking compared to their cultural issues …

Do you think that maasais don't kill other people ? Ella didn't tell you all about them. They kill other people without any problems and they also hunt other people. At Zanzibar. Especially they hunt white women and there is no happy-end for those poor women in these stories. So many destroyed lives by maasais, you would be very surprised - knowing whole the naked true about this tribe. But 2 - 3 years spent at Zanzibar would teach you a lot.

That's a lie, Masaïs don't live in Zanzibar. And they stopped cattle rustling decades ago.

@@1wun1 yes, today they are only hunting white women at Zanzibar, using lies and manipulations to get money from their victims. Maasais don't live at Zanzibar ? They are stinking there for 10 months , for sure they spend there more time than at home in mainland. Maasais are not from ZNZ but definitely they are there in hundreds. Making from Zanzibar bad place.

This guy is telling you bullshit. I have lived with a Maasai family over 8 years.
They don’t get to eat meat every day, only on special occasions. They eat Ugali.
Most Maasai in Tz are poor so cannot afford to buy more than wife (which costs 10 cows). They love their cows more than their wife. But they do love their Mums and their children.
Between 15 and 18 boys are circumcised in a year group and stay brothers for life. They then spend months in the bush together recovering and surviving. The kids don’t go to kindergarten, from the age of 4 they go out each day with the goats and baby cows to find grass. Education is not free so most Maasai don’t get it.
After circumcision they become Moran or warriors and are free to wander around and not work.
Women can get a divorce but the children will stay with the husband’s family and they return to their Boma.
Many young Morans are finding it difficult to get 10 cows to get married nowadays so they often go to Zanzibar to work as security or sell their jewellery.
Unfortunately President Samia is throwing many Maasai out of Ngorogoro to sell the land to Arabs for trophy hunting. Life is not easy for the Maasai today

Probably if you would have asked a women opinion they would have said that they were agreed with it, but why ?
For the social pressure, for achieving a ''status'', beacuse since you are born they said that you have to do it, a woman that would decide to not get a FGM how would be treated in the community ? She couldn't have baby, she couldn't have an husband and she wouldn'd be accepted by the rest of the elder women.
What if we take this woman and we put her in a community where you don't need to get a mutilation to achieve the status of being a Woman and being accepted by other ?
Would she still be happy about doing it ?
    Sometimes traditions are Social Pressure.
    My opinion.

What about western women who put off marriage and child birth to focus on their career and narcissistic sexual self indulgance, then they hit 30 or 40 and nobody wants them, and they cant have children, cant have a husband and wind up alone and afraid. Is that social pressure or biological reality. This is what happens when you give women the illusion of being sexually liberated. Women are not sexually liberated, they're sexually dependent, you think you can socially engineer around that but what happens is society collapses on women. The most dangerous thing that can happen to a women is that she be granted sexual free will.

I'm a bit of a carnivore! I do enjoy eating strange cuts of meat and have liver at home quite a bit (although it is cooked!). Here I was mostly worried about food poisoning rather than not enjoying it. I nearly didn't have any for this reason but ultimately am so glad I tried it and my stomach was perfect afterwards.

Between 15 and 18 the boys are circumcised in a group who remain their brothers for life. They then go to live in the bush on their own and survive.
They are not the only tribe to practise FGM, it is done throughout Ethiopia and Sudan. They don’t eat bush meat and only eat goat and cow on special occasions. They love their cows more than their women, but they do love their Mothers and their children. Nowadays it costs 10 cows to marry so only wealthy Maasai can afford more than one wife. Most Maasai in Tz are not wealthy.

Since this video was made I've spoken to Maasai herdsmen in the Masai Mara in Kenya who have told me that they no longer hunt lions. I don't know whether this tribe in Tanzania are still doing it or not (this Masai gentleman may have killed a lion but perhaps younger generations in this boma don't as his opinion seems to be in the minority after visiting numerous Maasai villages now) but I'm glad that at least it is starting to become rarer. Tourists are so valuable to the Maasai and many tourists come to Tanzania primarily because of wildlife so, like you say, lions are more important to them alive these days

Their traditions of mutating girls is evil and sick and just plain wrong. Dear Lord, I pray that You would do a work in these people. Make Yourself known to them. Pierce through the darkness and open their eyes to the truth of Your great love for them. Bring them the Good News, that You died on the cross for their sin and that all they need to do is believe in You and confess with their mouth that You are Lord of their lives. Send them people who will tell them about Your love. Protect their precious girls and change things for them. Show them truth. Thank You that You are bigger than this darkness. In Jesus name, amen.
