While I agree, he did have seven consecutive top 5 hits and was one of the most successful artists of the 80's and 90's. Not too shabby, but he still doesn't get the recognition he deserved.
Absolutely love Richard Marx! Incredible song writer, piano player, & gorgeous vocals. He’s written hit songs for more big performers than anyone realizes!
My husband was never one to say “I love you “ or be romantic. Sometimes I would wonder if he did, but I didn’t dwell on it, until one night in the pub I was a little drunk and I said to my husband “ you never tell me how you feel about me. Do me a favour and put a song on just for me “ and he went to the jukebox and put this song on, I was so happy. But the moral to this is, a week after that night my husband died in a car accident. And I would often think back on our lives together later. I remembered how he would often cook my dinner when I had done overtime, came home with a dress I had admired once walking past the shop, bought me a Bruce Springsteen album even though he hated him, and still ate the Christmas dinner I had burned and said it was good! What I’m trying to say is that just because someone doesn’t say those 3 little words, it doesn’t matter, actions speak louder than words. And those little things say them loud and clear. Doesn’t stop me crying whenever I hear this song though! Sorry, I’m not trying to be a pity party! It’s a long time ago but anybody can say “I love you “ but not many Springsteen haters can put up with him day and night, and say nothing when you’ve eaten your wife’s burnt Christmas dinner and break a bit of tooth from it and say it was lovely! That’s love 😂😂

Billy Joel was asked by an interviewer about the inspiration behind a song. I forget which one, but Billy said that Richard Marx wrote it, and when Richard Marx says he has a song for you, you record it.
In the 80’s we all had big hair, men and women, lol. Love Richard Marx and he still sings and is just as handsome. This is really a beautiful song. Love your reactions.
Richard Marx was married to Cynthia Rhodes who was the blonde dancer in the red dress in Toto's 'Rosanna' video (for 25 years), she is an actress who was also in Flashdance and Dirty Dancing. He is presently married to Daisy Fuentes. Richard was massive in the 80's and 90's. He has written so many amazing songs.
Richard Marx is one of the BEST singers/songwriters of the 80's. He does amazing ballads - but also fantastic uptempo songs as well. Please check out Should've Known Better, Don't Mean Nothing, Too Late To Say Goodbye, and Loney Heart.
Barbra Streisand asked him if he would write a song for her next album. He offered her this song. She called him back later and "Richard, I listened to your song and I love the melody, but I can't sing those lyrics because I'm not going to be right here waiting on ANYBODY." He later wrote If You Ever Leave Me as a duet for her and Vince Gill.
Thank you! I heard this song on the radio earlier today before I watched this video and the passenger in my car said that this was Richard Marx and I said no this is Bryan Adam’s. I didn’t not believe him at all. I made him prove it to me. I all this time thought it was Bryan Adam’s. Total Bryan vibes!

I worked in the Mall of America the first year they were open and for the month of December, they had singers/musicians playing at lunch every day in the main rotunda. I was going to get coffee and I hear these two guys singing Christmas songs while playing acoustic guitars. I thought one of the voices sounded familiar…it was Richard Marx! Just him and another guy just casually sitting there, singing Christmas songs. It was awesome!
Richard Marx is a phenomenal singer, musician and song writer. Just remember too about his voice and all 70,s and 80,s singers, this is before auto-tuning too.
I'm fairly sure his hair is naturally very wavy bordering on full curly. Even when he had it short later, it was still fluffed up. At some point in the 2000's when flat ironing your hair became super popular, it got straighter, but it didn't stay that way long. he just has a thick wave to his hair. That made his hair perfect for that 80's mullet too lol
The fluffy mullet! Richard Marx comes from the late 80s common with the 80s hairbands. Marx was one of the most successful singer songwriters of the late 80s to mid 90s. Love the slight rasp in his voice. He co wrote the Grammy award winning song Dance with my father with Luther Vandross
His duet with JC from *NSYNC was prefaced by the story of how he was working with the group on a song he wrote, and there had been young women outside the studio all day. Richard Marx posted a video on RUclips a couple of days ago about this album and the cover, etc. I liked the story of how the title of that album "Repeat Offender" came out. I like how things coincide like now.
Richard Marx was perfection.. this song especially hit the emotional button! Loving someone so much, just missing them, but on the road.. trying to be making a living in the music industry, that takes him away from the one he loves and prays he won't lose her while he's gone. As far as know it's called "hair".
Oh my goodness oh my goodness you never heard of him you never heard of him oh my goodness you have to go down the rabbit hole go down the rabbit hole go down the rabbit hole😮😮😮😮😮😮
I stood watching a guy play this song on a keyboard in a department store near the inside mall entrance and when he left I walked up to the keyboard, within 15-20 minutes I played the whole song minus a few chords. No lessons no nothing. Just a rare ear for music. I was in my early 20s before the work accident that left me in a wheelchair paralyzed from the waist. I was 26 when the accident happened. And it’s the only song I can play and sing quite well. At 52 I’m planning to take piano lessons because music everything to me. If I’m not singing, something’s wrong. This just reminded me of that.
I love this song. I saw Richard Marx in concert in 1987 (?) in Des Moines, Iowa. It was the last stop on his tour before he went home to Chicago. When I hear this song, I am instantly transported to that night and seeing him sitting on the edge of the stage after dedicating this song to his wife at the time.

Richard´s music has been with me for a long time, great singer/songwriter and musician!
This song echoes thru the heart of anyone who served in the Navy or Coast Guard. You can tell by the first line. But homecomings were oh so sweet
Richard Marx still does great music❤
Richard Marx is an awesome singer and pianist love this song 👍
He’s also a pretty good guitarist but always had another guy played lead.
He has had #1 hits over 4 decades. He has written for the likes of Keith Urban, Daughtry, Celine Dion, NSYNC, Barbara Streisand, the list is endless.
Richard is an awesome singer, so much great music to dive into.
