  • Concentrics involve a higher rate coding, better motor unit recruitment, and likely better gains in high-velocity strength (the strength needed to increase jump height).

    It’s fitting that the manner in which you explain this is so concise and quick... one might say explosive.

    U are brilliant and This is the future of training....It may also build more muscle then doing eccentric ! more recovery less soreness more muscle possibly ! thanks...this is RARELY SEEN

    great video and explantation! how often should I do this training as an athlete? can I do this in season or would it be too taxing on the CNS?

    • @jake_tuura
      @jake_tuura  3 года назад +1

      Yes, you can do it in season. It’s less taxing than other forms of lifting.

    Does doing the Concentric Only training or Dead Stop training increases explosiveness? It eliminates the Stretch Reflex right? I thought that to be explosive we need to use stretch reflex

      you should get plenty of plyometric training by doing your sport or doing jumps and sprints.
      I like the idea to use weighted exercises mostly in a concentric way. The fact that only max acceleration concentrics work rate coding is crucial.
      Eccentric training does not. Eccentrics training is much harder on the CNS. But fast concentrics not to failure! will improve the CNS and recovery! Win win

      Do both

  • @silasnew15
    @silasnew15 5 лет назад +1

    Isn't this concentric AND eccentric training? For example, in the deadlift, do the hamstring muscles lengthen while quads shorten? and for the pull ups, don't the triceps lengthen while biceps shorten?

    • @jake_tuura
      @jake_tuura  5 лет назад +1

      Silas MN I guess so... the main point in, you are doing a traditional strength/power lift and dropping the eccentric portion. No damage, minimal fatigue, all explosiveness and CNS feeling on fire.

      @@jake_tuuraisn't the eccentric bit of the exercise the part where you absorb force to help you jump higher or make you move horizontally on the track.

    Do you think concentric-only training can lead to long term knee detriment? Like if you have the ability to jump 40 inches but not the eccentric ability to perfectly land from it?

    • @jake_tuura
      @jake_tuura  2 года назад +3

      Do eccentrics and isometrics too. Problem solved.

  • @dereksmithfor3

    Do you think concentric only training makes sense for an athlete during season because it will cause less muscle damage but will let you hit high max forces still

    • @d3rpn1nj47
      @d3rpn1nj47 2 года назад

      sport specific training is best and typically is skewed closer to concentric only
