When she screamed ぼくらは (bokurawa) and there was no music, in that part I always get goosebumps

Good reaction. This is a beautiful song - but it is deep too. From my starting point of almost complete ignorance I have been learning so much from comments under other reactions about Ragnarok and the Norse mythology being referenced and the consensus is there are also many references to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, even if it is not specifically about those tragic events.
The "monochrome firework" could be the bomb and the tree they used in the visuals throughout and that was finally shown in colour at the end could be the Hiroshima Peace Tree that survived the bombing as well as the tree of life from Norse mythology.

    Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse.
Great to see you're back, I've been missing your reaction last week, hope everything is ok.
They're using the Norse mythology, Yggdrasil is the Tree Of Life as the Aogiri tree, one of the survivor tree in Hiroshima, and the monochrome fireworks altogether along with more references as a metaphor, once you know where SuMetal was born it all makes sense. But instead of endorse negativity she's giving us hope that if a war or any other sad moment (like the recent pandemic) is happening nowadays, the colors will be back.☔☀️🌈
We all know so far that this time they're introducing us to their metalverse with 10 different worlds and songs, and we're gonna see the full picture once the full album is out, probably some more hints with the next singles coming and the live performance next January. OTFGK.
    These are the credits:
    *Monochrome*
    Lyrics : MK-METAL
Music & Arrangement : YUPPEMETAL (aka Yuyoyuppe) he's the one behind songs like Karate, Rondo Of Nightmare, Megitsune and Kagerou, he knows his business and totally rocks.
Thanks for sharing this and see you next time.🦊🤘🌈

Well said👊🏽⚡️Their studio tracks are teasers for the live performances. My hunch is that in their down time they’ve been working on the live performances. They will be other worldly.

Really beautiful although sad song. They went deeper lyrically on this one with really dark references. But with an optimistic touch at the end.

The song is about an apocalypse. The monochrome firework in the video is a nuclear bomb, you see it go up, turn the screen white and devastates the city. The rain is a metaphor of the black rain which fell on Hiroshima, and the single treey seems to be emblematic of the tree of life, or to me the survivor tree which alone stood after the bomb struck Hiroshima, and now stands in Peace Park. Su is a native of Hiroshima, born and grew up there until about age 13. She is the scion of grandparents who survived the bomb. And here she is singing about those feelings. To me the song gets quiet in the first verse because Su is telling us to listen.
In my opinion, this will not be a good outro as it is so sad. But they write hooks like the 'oh-oh-oh' with the crowd response in mind. I am sure this will get a response.

This song is almost its worst enemy because it's "too perfect" to comment on, there is no part to highlight or critique. Su's voice is great, the instrumentals are great, the lyrics are great and the lyric video goes really well with it. I think it will flourish once we get to see it performed live with their choreography, stage presence and crowd interaction. I will just appreciate its beauty until then. Divine Attack (or Shingeki) was equally amazing, but to me it felt incomplete, as if a section was cut out... I wonder if they will do something exciting to fill that space when performing it live.

Yes expect the unexpected with this group, you know that. The more I listen to this the more I simply love it. I’m sorry for not knowing the correct terms either, but something like Immersive Power Metal perhaps? (I know that’s wrong, but..). It’s like when a whole orchestra joins in the build after section is done. I don’t know someone please correct me. The transitions from the drops to the next verse/chorus just gives me chills. Anyway, I’m others will be here momentarily to provide lyrical and visual analysis.

i really love this song. BM has many amaizing songs, but this is one of a few which can make me cry. if i understand lyrics well, it is about hiroshima (su's birthplace). drums are really sick and voices... from heaven.

Definitely glad your channel came up in my feed. You’re reactions are the most genuine, enjoyable to watch! Thank you! I got into Baby Metal in 2016 and I’m still going down the rabbit hole. I’d love to see you react to one of their slower songs, almost like a ballad, I mean, what rock band doesn’t have a ballad!? Check out Baby Metal - The One (official) from 2016. Thanks again for making my Tuesdays awesome!

Great reaction again. It's about time for a BM guide. It's rather lengthy, but worth it and people will watch. I think you'd dig it. Just in case I put a link in the reply to this comment.

This is BABYMETAL's first song with English subtitles EVER! This song is special for a reason. Monochrome is about the atomic bombs being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At 1.04 there is a mushrooms cloud and at 3.06 a city is destroyed by a falling object.

after you understand what this is about you will appreciate it so much more. first, Babymetal like no other can blend many genres in one song and have it flow so good. like another reactor pointed out and i agree. it starts out metal then the awesome riff is like hard rock then when it slows down it has a pop feel to it but it just flows so good between each genre. watching the visuals you understand this is about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and then goes into Norse mythology. something so dark but having a song give a positive vibe. to me when she sings about the rainbow colors in the sky, to me it means Peace. then when she says no matter how long the night the morning will arrive. to me that says no matter how dark you are in your life the light will come soon. so positive. Babymetal took a tragic event and turned it into something so beautiful. name me another band that can do this this good. you can't.
