    Could Apple have just made the best computer ever... for running Windows? Runninc Microsoft Windows on MAc computerts isn't somethign new, but at this price range I believe the Apple M2 Mac Mini might well be a great way for Apple to win over some Windows users.

    As you will see in this video, I'd say that even the more expensive M2 Pro Mac Mini would still be a very viable option for people who want to have a creative setup for graphic designing or video editing, as well as having access to Microsoft only apps. Or even gaming!
    The Apple M2 Mac Mini can run Windows 11 perfectly well, with only very minor compatibility concerns. Windows itself has gotten much slicker now, some may say just as friendly as MacOS Ventura. I am curious though, would you consider getting the M2 Mac Mini to run Windows on it?

    The M2 Mac Mini is great for creative work and even some more advanced workloads like software development and video editing but... How about running Windows on it? Can the M2 Mac Mini be a good option for people wanting to "jump ship"? Or maybe even to have a Mac - as well as - a Windows PC? Let me know if you are considering the Mac Mini 👇🏼 Have a great day 🙏🏼
    🙈CORRECTION: I stated HDMI 2.1 incorrectly.
    M2 has HDMI 2.0 (this base Mac mini with 2 Thunderbolt ports)
    M2 Pro has HDMI 2.1 (the Mac mini M2 pro chip and with 4 Thunderbolt ports)

    The best review of the Mac Mini and trust me ive about watched them all. As an advanced hobbyist photographer ive been debating for weeks on which model to use. I only use lightroom and maybe have 3 web tabs open max at the same time. Currently using a 2013 imac with intel i5 and 8 gb ram. Seeing how this unit handled lightroom with 20 tabs open and other apps gave me the reassurance the base model will work for me. If i were a professional photographer and making money from my work than i can see validating the extra money for a better unit. Thanks again!

    Alex - I am a electrical and computer engineer and do software development and simulations and sometimes need to run Windows for those apps not available on the Mac. I use a M2 MacBook Air with 512GB (and 8GB RAM) and it seems to work well when I need to use development or engineering tools only available for WIndows, if I’m only running Parallels / Windows 11 and not much else on my Mac. Since the M2 Mini is such a great value, I’m wondering which configuration of an M2 Mini might provide the price / performance value for the same kind of work, when I only need to be at my desktop. Can you compare the Windows 11 performance on the base M2 Mini to a M2 Mini Pro when running Parallels?

    I'm really torn on which model to get actually. Im using a 2008 hacked mac pro as my home machine, so I'm sure a mini m2 with 16gb ram and a 512gb ssd will absolutely smoke that, but my tech nerd/futureproof brain tells me to go m2 pro base model and take that extra hit. What's your honest opinion?

    • @AlexGTech
      @AlexGTech  Год назад +1

      16GB and 512 will be incredible! But really depends on what work you are doing on it. I did a few reviews of the M2 MacBook Air with 16GB that might give you an idea. You can safely assume that the Mini would be even faster given the cooling...

      I've been using windows since I was a child and mac since college, honestly switching isn't as huge a deal as you'd think. I currently have a mac for work and a windows laptop for browsing/netflix/casual gaming. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you're not using very demanding stuff, you can get a good enough windows PC cheap- my dad got a reconditioned office workstation for £90 and its fine for his needs (basic word processing, web browsing, youtube, porn probably), but you'll not find a computer as good as a mac mini m2 base model for that money.

    Could you run a battery of benchmarks in Windows 11. I saw someone do this with the M1, but haven’t seen any updates on how much better the M2 does. I am most interested to see how the M2 Pro Mac Mini does in those benchmarks!

    I’ve been getting away as a professional with a 2010 Mac Pro. But I forced a duel boot and now it’s a mid tier gaming computer. So now Im torn between a M2 Pro mini vs a baseline studio. I do some video editing, but mainly these days edit novels using pages. And when you have 50k changes to accept and decline, CPU’s get upset. So if anyone has an opinion on the m2 pro mini - 512gb - 16gb. I feel like it’ll be fine and dandy for 8 years. If I’m wrong and should go studio. Be neat to know now as opposed to after the fact.

    The 20 tab thing is a deal breaker for me. Would 16gb on the non-pro M2 solve that issue?

    • @AlexGTech
      @AlexGTech  Год назад +1

      Definitely! 16GB on my M2 MacBook Air allows me for a lot more than that. It depends on the websites you use too but as a rule of thumb 20 tabs is when you start using about 7GB of RAM. Whilst the computer is not slowing down, you may start to see swap when you open heavier apps like Adobe Photoshop or Davinci Resolve, etc.

    • @ptroit
      @ptroit Год назад

      @@AlexGTech thanks for the reply. I think for me the sweet spot seems to be a 16gb/512gb config, but am not sure how much that config is worth it to bump up to pro vs saving the $300 and doing just an m2. I usually have about 50-80 tabs across 5 different chrome windows open at a time (and one or two other browsers with 10 tabs), Photoshop, 5-7 Visual Studio Code instances, and various other smaller programs.

      @@ptroit You’re going to love the Pro honestly. You are already talking about a workflow that is going to make the most of the Pro, and test the limits of the M2. I would seriously consider at least the base pro mini, and maybe even an upgrade to Ram. Otherwise you and I are going to have to rethink our workflow and “clean our rooms” a little lol.

      I'm trying to figure out what's so good about the Mac that users are willing to throw so much money at. For me, a PC is a work tool and a media and entertainment device. The Mac, on the other hand, is a closed and expensive computer that does not meet all the needs of the user and limits it to one corporation that controls the hardware and the ability to repair the computer.
      So what's all the fuss about?

    • @guycortesi

      Right now the interest is driven by Apple silicon with exceptional performance for so much less power. This results in laptops and tablets without fans and very long battery life. The desktop units also consume much less power and are remarkably small. As you noted, the trade-off is a closed system, less or no expandability and limited repair options. Interestingly, as Alex noted, the base M2 Mini, when coupled with Parallels, can run Windows 11 very well. With a $100 education discount, it is priced at $499, which makes it a very good value if you already own a keyboard, mouse and monitor.
