    Always love to see how well thought out and professional this tank setup is, almost like a clinical lab setup. Shows how the hobby can go from a budget nano to something this complex.

    Thank you.. "name has slipped my mind" is the most common type of coral in my tank. Pleased to see I am not unique as having one or more :) Always enjoy someone taking time to explain what is in their tank, not simply equipment. I've mixed some "Hikari Marine Seaweed Extreme" with my normal pellets to raise the vegetable matter level for my fish. Not sure of any effect but may be something to consider for things like tangs or some blennies. Looking at probe location, in the main tank I had the problem of coraline algae. I don't have a lot in my tank but it loves to grow on probes. Moved them down into sump (only have temp and ph) so they don't get the light levels which was part of the reason for growth. Temp is nowhere near as accurate but don't use it to control temperature anyway.

    • @HobbySci
      @HobbySci  4 года назад

      I’ll have to look into the veggie pellets. Yeah I had the probes in the sump for a while. The only think I didn’t like was that when I turn on a 45min feed mode o basically didn’t have values. Or if I’m away from my tank ever and the return pump fails, I wouldn’t get a temp warning that my tank is running cold or hot. Maybe the way is to create a small black box over the probes

    This is a great Reef, well done. I have a similar setup (250 reefer, Profilux, MP40s) but i am struggling with my flows. The MP40 is less than optimal for this tank size and i have capped them at 30%. Anything above that will tear my LPS corals. Would it be possible to share your MP40s schedule?

      @@carlosa.5644 I'm loving my redsea 350. I did change the valve to a spears gate valve as it was a complete pain to adjust and i kept having to adjust it continuously. So got sick and changed it. I don't reccomend the lights or the skimmer. I started off with the 90watt led from them and with in 7 months it died. They did repair it but i then sold it off for a hydra 32hd. The red sea skimmer sucks. The " quiet operation" is bullshit. I have a tmc 8000 dc return pump on setting 13 , 2 gyre XF330's on 40% random mode. And the decibels was 34 with them all on but skimmer off. Soon as you turn the skimmer on decibels jumped to 58-65 which is obviously not "quiet". Red sea refused to help in any shape or form. Even though the pump seemed broken as it was rattling really badly. I had no choice but to sell it to someone who didnt mind the noise lost over £100 over something that was used for less than 2 hours total. From then on ive completely stayed clear of red sea. Im afraid that if the 350 tank fails. They will not cover warranty. They ignore emails as well if you push too far. I know this as i sent them an email with another account and they replied within 2 days.
      Even though the 350 is a beautiful tank and cabinet i do not reccomend it. Of course i might have been the 1% of the bad experiences. But i just gave you what happened to me it could have happened with any brand but happened with redsea.

    Massive amount of cash thrown at the tech, yet the tank is pretty unimpressive. Just shows that you do not need half of this kit to successfully keep a happy reef.

    unecessary gear that will crash your tank and they sell the stuff for pennys and quit the hobby. There is no replacement for manual labor in this hobby. All these garbage gear will get you no where. Totally unecessary especially for tank this size. There were more beautiful tanks back 10 20 years ago with very simple equipment. These days its this kind of ridiculous gear and they have few frag sticks and tank looks like garbage.
