Thank you so much for posting this video. You have taken the mystery (and the fear) out of trying to replace the rotted fabric on my 1980’s “Victorian” lamp shade. I have been living with the rips and tears because the project intimidated me, but now I am ready to tackle it.
Couple of suggestions. I recommend applying each panel to the frame vs sewing them all together then attaching. Also i would use fabri-tac glue. Not only will it give you anless bulky result but hot glue on a lamp will break down and not hold the best. Especially closer to the bulb.
Nice! I’m getting ready to do that style so I’ve been learning. In one video I watched the woman just cut strips of cotton fabric to wrap around the frame instead of tape like you did. It was a little thicker, and perhaps not quite as tight as the tape but it seems like that would be a bit easier to pin through than the cotton tape. Thanks for the video! I liked subscribed, and I am looking to see if you made any more on lampshades.
these are beautiful! I'm wondering if machine basting the fringe and braid together before applying to the shade would be advantageous..? i want to try my hand at making one. thank you for sharing your method.
cotton is safer than other materials but to ensure it's safe there is a fabric spray that will help make the fabric retardant.. but also you can use a 'cool' bulb like LED

Use fabric tac glue for your trims ….it is sold a Walmart, Hobby lobby, & online…..nice shade! Great job!
Excellent work 😊
love the second one! great work! can you share which shop did you get the frame? thank you x

Oh that's actually a great idea, a good way to use up scraps as well!
Try using “fabric tac” fabric glue to adhere your trims. Much easier & thinner layers of glue. Love your tutorial….very informative
great idea, thanks!

I think that could work as well!
How long did the lampshade take you to make?
Is the cotton fabric safe for the heat of the light bulb ?

It has been too long, lady. I'm glad to watch a new video
thank you :) yes it has!
@@SarahTypes don't get lost again
Thank you, that was super helpful! ❤
Your tutorial is great! I haven’t seen you made some seam allowance.
no i didn't.. the tutorials I saw said not to and I guess that's because you pull it really taught.. it worked for me anyway
That's so cool, could you please tell which one hot glue gun you are using (the small one)
Thank you
I'm not sure.. it's super old, just a regular cheap glue gun
The sewing machine threw me off.
Going to try to hand sew around the struts
The tutorials I linked in the description.. if you go to her channel, she actually has a no sew video as well.
