There is another reason why Korea considers Turkye as its most important brother country. This is because Turkey is a descendant of the First Turkic Khaganate, a military ally of Goguryeo, the feudal cavalry empire of Korea in ancient times! When ancient China's Great Tang Empire invaded Korea to make it a colony of the Great Tang Empire, the First Turkic Khaganate united with Goguryeo and fought together. Italy and Germany because they're NATO members, seriously?
There are several other NATO countries...that's not the reason.
There IS a special relationship between Italians and Germans and I'd say it's a good one, but that is due to the long and mostly friendly history both countries share:
- Italy and Germany are both very young countries that became national states very late.
But the German and Italian people have always been "neighbours" throughout history.
But unlike the Germans and the French, they stood on the same side in most wars, long before WW2.
At times of the Holy Roman Empire, it was even one country.
- The economical ties were strong throughout all times: "Italy" provided passage the way to the sea and lands of the south for german merchants, "Germany" was the gate to northern and eastern Europe for italian merchants...there was always a lot of trade between both countries from which both profited, especially during the Renaissance era.
A great example for that is the strong friend- and partnership between Europe's richtest and most powerful merchant families of the 15th century: The german "Fugger" and the italian "Medici" family.
- The mutual economic usefulness After WW2: When both countries were exhausted by war and defeated, the common history and good neighbourhood lead to a series of events that helped both countries to get out of the mud and develop again:
The first being Italians "guest workers" coming to Germany, working in the industry, helping it grow and settling with their families. To this day, a lot of germans are of italian descent and Germany and Austria have a lot of wonderful italian restaurants, gelaterias, boutiques, cafés and delicacy shops that were found by Italian immigrants.
In turn, Italy recieved tons of german tourists since the mid 60s, which boosted the italian tourism industry to one of the most succesful worldwide.
Until this day, the biggest group of tourists in Italy come from Germany and Austria.
So...NATO and EU of course play a big role in the Italo-German relationship, but it's much more the strong political and economical ties throughout history, as well as plenty of cultural exchange, that make the two countries friendly neighbours :D
Indonesia and Russia were friends, because Soviet Union was a true friend, during the Sukarno era, while America seemed to be targeting Indonesia. That's why Indonesia used to be closer to the Soviet Union than America.
And the Soviet Union at that time helped the Indonesian Armed Forces to fight the Dutch who were defending Papua. Because at that time Indonesia wanted Papua.
Unlike America, America at that time refused to help Indonesia fight over Papua. But after Indonesia asked for help from the Soviet Union, after that did America want to help Indonesia.
In other words, America at that time was not willing to help Indonesia.
"No Gain, No Pain" is the US motto, they gave guns to my ancestors during the revolution of the Philippines against Spain but in the end, we got betrayed by those americans and they massacred millions of civilian.
