Cuba is also historic friends with the DPRK. Cuba has had diplomatic relations with the DPRK since August 1960. Che Guevara, then a Cuban government minister, visited the DPRK in 1960 and proclaimed it a model for Cuba to follow. Cuba was one of the few countries that showed solidarity with us by boycotting the Seoul Olympics in 1988. Although my grandpa nor father went to Cuba, my grandpa sent arms shipments to them free of charge. After Fidel died in 2016, we declared a three-day mourning period and sent an official delegation to his funeral. We move forward no matter the obstacle, hand in hand.

As for the Philippines, the US was more than just an ally, the US colonized them! I used to live in Jersey City, NJ which has a huge population of Filipinos (to the point Jersey City has TWO Jollibees), and my best friend in middle school there was a Filipino from Bacolod! When he gave me so many Filipino desserts to take home for Christmas on the school bus one day, that's when I learned about Filipino hospitality. They go above and beyond to make people's days!

Russia and Serbia, due to the same trauma of the countries' dissolution (USSR and Yugoslavia) and because both are orthodox. Bulgary and Russia because Russia liberated Bulgary from Osmans.
Russia, and Vietnam, because USSR supported Vietnam in the war against the USA and then in the war against China. Taiwan and Japan because of common interests in economy and foreign politics
