    I have permanent numbness and pain of my lower abdomen after a tummy tuck. My results are aesthetically perfect and beautiful, but it feels like I have a tight corset on all the time with numbness and mild pain. I had my tummy tuck 3 years ago. I would still do it again if I had the choice, but I wish I didn’t have to live with the numbness and pain.

      Unfortunately this is a possible complication. After 3 years it is unlikely to improve for you.

      Did it go away??

      It is not a common thing to see - it could be a reaction to the dressing. It is best to go back and see your surgeon so that he can assess.

    I would like to know if muscle twitching is common in the legs post surgery, and if so, how do you treat this condition? I'm asking for a friend.

    • @DrBernardBeldholm
      @DrBernardBeldholm  3 года назад +1

      Hi Darrell, muscle twitching is not common but may be due to swelling and irritation of the nerves. I would recommend your friend talk to their surgeon.

    Leaking from the incision site 2 weeks post op. Drain removed. How common is this?

    • @DrBernardBeldholm
      @DrBernardBeldholm  2 года назад

      Hi Miquela, a small amount of leaking is to be expected however if it is a lot, or if you have concerns, it is always best to see your surgeon so that they can review this.

    What about if the scar reopen again

    • @DrBernardBeldholm
      @DrBernardBeldholm  Год назад

      If the scar reopens we would be concerned about possible infection. We would monitor and dress as needed, it is possible that this area may need to be re-stitched. We would ensure regular post-operative visits to monitor the patient.

    I just had a tummy tuck 12 days ago and felt the shooting pain and numbness in my right thigh from the first day. Did some research and understand that the Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve is damaged. Is there anything to do or am I going to experience chronic pain for the rest of my life? 🤞🏼I am on gabapentin at the moment.

      It is always best to keep in contact with your surgeon and attend your post-operative review appointments so that they can keep an eye on this. Most can settle around 3 months however it can be ongoing. Patients can experience a numb patch with no pain after this time however there are instances of chronic pain resulting.

    I am 3 months out and did some water sports. I am afraid that I jumped the gun a bit. How can I tell if I have injured myself?

    • @DrBernardBeldholm
      @DrBernardBeldholm  3 года назад

      You will generally experience pain, swelling or some other physical sign. If you feel fine and there are no changes, then it is unlikely you have caused damage.

    I’m ten months out and I’m still having shooting pains and swelling

    • @DrBernardBeldholm

      That is disappointing, it would be best to see your surgeon to discuss this. Post op appointment are very important to keep an eye on the healing process.

      It is hard to say without seeing you - I would suggest that you go back to your surgeon and get them to check on this.

    I am seven weeks out and have had slow healing and small openings along incision. I seem to be purging my stitches. Like my body hates them. Every time the incision starts to get better, more stitches get pushed out and it reopens. How much longer can this keep happening! I’m so frustrated and tired of having open wounds!

      Vanessa, Thank you for your comment.
      It is unfortunately not uncommen to have this issue. It's called a stitch sinus. The stitches push though the tissues and pop out.
      I don't know what type of stitches your surgeon would have used. But if he used absorbable stitches these can hang around for up to 6 months after surgery.
      These issues do resolve eventually.

    Everytime say very rare and I want to cry. I have all these symptoms. I'm 3 months post op and I've had to had drains reinserted 2x in addition to the initial drain. Currently I'm in utter agony and now my belly button is leaking some sort of thick white fluid after being fine for about a month. The first two weeks after surgery, I don't ven wish on the devil. And I was left with a shelf belly with loose skin. I should have stayed with the excessively loose skin from losing 100+ lbs naturally. I felt human. Now, I feel a monster. Gentlepeople, research your surgeon throughly. Pay close attention that they aren't trying to scam you. I did and even with my mother in law having a successful breast augmention done by the same dr...his bedside manner has left much to be desire. Constant pain is horrible. I can still feel and hear the dr having to reinsert the drains in me and sucking out all the liquid. I had to fo that 2x and might have to do it again. I'm mentally, emotionally, physically and financially at my end. Make sure the surgeon you pick LISTENS to you and doesn't dismiss your concerns. I should have left the office when I heard the "I never have complications" bit.
