Cameron is the guy in the beginning “Carlos”. He passed away in real life in 2019 due to complications with his epilepsy. The girl “uma” who is named China in real life, she was best friends with him through childhood. She actually stopped acting not far after his passing, and took it hard. She expresses this movie was a healing experience for her, and that’s why her tears are so genuine in the beginning. They honored him, without getting too deep as it’s a kids movie.
Cinderella was never her actual name. It's always been Ella. The Cinder part was because she was made to clean and got cinder (ashes) all over. Her sisters were the ones that gave her that nickname. I also never understood why she would keep it after getting married to Prince (Henry) Charming.

The problem is there is no exciting big climax that it built up to through the whole, no big great fight. Like, in the other movies Maleficent became a dragon, Mal became a dragon fighting Uma Kraken and all that. Here, there was no fight between good and evil, the closest to a confrontation was stealing a book, and the sides didn't even have to fight each other for it, the bads just froze and that's it. The movie built up all the time for this Great PRANK and then the the Great DANCE at Castlecoming; even when the point was we don't get to see the prank, why then not the dance that was uninterrupted by the prank? Something exciting, great.
Good that we didn't need some lame CGI as the finale. The production team did a better job keeping it all in the background and working along other natural sites to make the world of 'Descendants' more real.
The main issue a lot of the older fans have with this movie is that it was revealed that they cut out a scene at the end with Morgie finding the book. From what it looks like, that was the 'big reveal cliffhanger' that was meant to be the most dramatic part. I guess they just spent their budget on the CGI and Costumes, though it's annoying that they cut it. They really didn't give Morgie or any of the others any development and personality. He had like 5 minutes of screen time, if that.
And plus when they went to get the cookbook, Chloe said that the only way to open the book is you have to be a good person, so I couldn’t be the VK’s because they got frozen
either that or ella is cover for charming. like the part where the queen shatters the slippers she said laughing now? or something, and him being the cause would explain why her best friend would want to minimize the harm the prank caused. as for why he would do it well bridget was the only royal ella could stand and ella rejected him bringing up the dance but when bridget was bumed ella jumped in asking her. so maybe jealousy. or maybe the prank still happened but the change was that they met thier daughters, i mean both smart teens maybe they figured it out especially with chloe accidently calling ella mom EDIT:!!! Just thought of something else what if ella was the original prankster but when she got frozen fairy godmothers magic finally dis what it was supposed to too unfreeze her showing fay bad at magic seemed so small but i feel it will come up in the next movie.
Yes, Carlos is canonically dead, they mentioned it in the wedding cartoon. Now back to the movie, there's actually so much more they can do with the idea from this movie as you've discussed. I'll add one of my own, what if the prank is Bridget getting Carrie'd? Her painted red will tie in nicely with her pink turning red in adulthood & references the OG movie, the paint Red threw at her poster being white will also do the foreshadowing of her turning good(in the movie Red used red paint).
i think because the series is targeted towards kids, they didn't want to confuse them by having carlos still alive, because kids can't really distinguish between actors and characters. It could also be to teach kids about death and grieving
i still think ella (cinderella) had something to do with the prank. because in the original plot, uliana & her friends somehow opened the book and casted a mean spell on bridget. but when red & chloe go back in time to stop them, they freeze when they opened it. so how did they open the book before?? also, ella kept making weird facial expressions towards bridget and when uliana & her friends appeared during ‘life is sweeter’ song, she was smiling towards them… grounded or not, ella was still going to the ball because of fairy god mother because the original movie was just like that. and then cinderella as an adult told queen of hearts that it was just a stupid prank. if that’s supposedly your formal “best friend” i don’t think you would say it was just a stupid prank because you know how much it hurt her and she was embarrassed. at the end, cinderella & chloe has this weird glow around them, so something definitely is going to happen to one of them because maddox hatter said the time machine could mess up the future.
i still wish they used ursula instead of a new character name uliana because in the little mermaid 2, ursula has only one younger sibling and it’s morgana. also kinda bummed out that hade’s & maleficent wasn’t very high up because they’re more powerful in my opinion, i mean hade’s is literally the only god out of them. & i remember in the first descendants, it was said that maleficent & evil queen used to rule their school but evil queen isn’t even mentioned in this one.
You should also watch 1997's Cinderella with Brandy and Paolo Montalban who are the actors here of Chloe's parents Ella and Charming. Descendants literally took the Cinderella and Charming from another movie. And there she already has the blue hair.

Okay yall didn’t know but it’s a very sensitive moment. They honored him in the beginning of the movie and the girl Uma “China Anne Mclain” another notable Disney star child actor like Cameron were best friends in real life since they were literally on set together since childhood and they were the kids of parent friends in that movie series “Grown Ups” w Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, Salma Hayek, and Kevin James. But yea Cameron was notable for many works, super talented person, and like I’m 21yo so I like many others in the comment section grew up watching him as he also grew up on my screen so it still pains many of us that he’s gone. ❤ The reason? Allegedly Cameron's epilepsy came with seizures and the cause of death was noted as “Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy” (SUDEP) which Boyce’s family didn’t even know that was a thing like many who were unaware but yea it was superrrr sad and Carlos (Cameron) was a big part of this movie franchise so that’s why they had a honor moment for him. That’s why China was crying and it was genuine tears because they were super close. 😢 Also, thanks for reacting to the movie. Honestly I love it and each song hits. People are just mad it’s a new generation of VKS and other descendants taking over but they’ll get over it. 😂
There’s a fifth movie being made, this was like a “part 1” and the fifth will be the “part 2” presumably showing the actual consequences of the girls time traveling and changing the past

I quite enjoyed this film! The songs were bangers, the story was unique, and the actors were amazing in their respective roles!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the Queen of Hearts sorta looked like Audrey. They both kinda have a similar angry glare and makeup when they are evil XD Kinda just like a slightly older Audrey a bit
Let's be honest: Audrey might have the glam as a villain, but was pretty weak for a villain. She was on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers-level of some of the bad notions of Rita Repulsa.
It's the fact that they skiped hafe way through the songs which has like 90% of the information thats in the movie and then don't know what is going on or who some characters are that just seemed funny to me😂😂😂😂

Watching this while eating was a mistake. Almost choked a couple times from laughing. I'm disappointed they didn't comment on how bad Chloe's wig was. She wore like a million of them through the movie; and the one worn through gotta get your hands dirty was really bad. The movie seemed like it was setting it up for ella to betray Bridget. She seemed so fishy during that scene where Bridget says ella is her only friend. Queen of hearts also says that are two-faced and two-fake. I think the next movie will have Cinderella being the antagonist.

Instead of them getting the book then immediately goes back to present day and queen of hearts just magically turns good . That whole scene I was like wait what …?? The whole plot was to go back to the past to fix the issue at prom and they didn’t even do that
because this movie will be broken into 2 parts (I blame Disney for not marketing that better and making that more clear) sort of like Dune. The ending is supposed to feel like it's open ended or incomplete *BECAUSE* there is more to the story. I would have traded all those special effects for a few good dance numbers. That was the only reason I watched Descendants.

I'm disappointed they didn't comment on how bad Chloe's wig was. She wore like a million of them through the movie; and the one worn through gotta get your hands dirty was really bad.
The movie seemed like it was setting it up for ella to betray Bridget. She seemed so fishy during that scene where Bridget says ella is her only friend. Queen of hearts also says that are two-faced and two-fake.
I think the next movie will have Cinderella being the antagonist.

A MINUTE AGO. I feel like this movie was so rushed and the ending didn't make any sense to me.

Instead of them getting the book then immediately goes back to present day and queen of hearts just magically turns good . That whole scene I was like wait what …?? The whole plot was to go back to the past to fix the issue at prom and they didn’t even do that
You do realize that this is only part one , right? It’s basically broken into 2 movies .
because this movie will be broken into 2 parts (I blame Disney for not marketing that better and making that more clear) sort of like Dune. The ending is supposed to feel like it's open ended or incomplete *BECAUSE* there is more to the story. I just wish people did their proper research before complaining about something that's already been explained, it's exhausting
