When I was at West Point, one of my roommates was on the West Point drill team. But, when th US ARMY Drill Team came to perform, we had one member of the team stay in our barracks with us and it was great to talk to him, ask him questions, and find out exactly how they did what they did. And, the answer is...... good ole fashioned hard work. Great job. It brings tears to my eyes to see a unit so in synch and BE as ONE.

The U.S. Army always was, is now and will always be the best army that ever marched. We are up there with the Roman army, German army and the Swiss army. There is NO ONE better than us. The United States Army,HOORAH!

Their commander may be stoic and calm on the outside but you have to wonder what's going on in his head as he has several razor sharp bayonets thrust at him from all sides.

We're not inefficient at winning wars, we're humane, something that 95% of other countries aren't. It's not because of army strength, it's because of compassion for not only your own countrymen but your enemies countrymen as well. Respecting the fact that not everyone in another country is an enemy, never ruthless and uncaring. We have honor, and it's this SAME honor and above qualities that makes the United States and her army TRULY the greatest in the world.

To be competitive is the nature of a fighting man. To argue who is the best is understandable. What is important, I believe is that the pride and respect Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen alike are all on the same mission. No matter what, if it is any man or woman serving our country it makes the little hairs on the back of my neck move and I am OVERWHELMED with pride...

When I as stationed in Korea 1960-61 I was in the First Cavalry Honor Guard. We had a very similar silent drill. One of the routines we did was flipping our rifles to each other while standing 20 feet apart. The announcer said they were using 1903 Springfield's. Not true they are using M1 Garand's. The 1903 was bolt action which made it a danger not only for balance but the bolt would get caught on clothing. In rehearsals we broke a lot of the wooden stocks, but the QM had cases of them.

I asked him how he could stand there and let all those bayonets come at his head. He told me he had absolute faith in his people. As good as they are here, it's even more impressive in person. Thanks for posting this.

I also believe that anyone that doesn't show respect and give Thanks to God everyday for you, they should pack their bags and move to another country. I was at some ceremonial gathering at one of the "arena type" places in Philadelphia a few years ago (just like the one seen here) and at some point during the presentation that I saw...the lights went out in the entire room (intentionally). It was because there was a glow in the dark strip on some part of each rifle and the drill team had glow in the dark gloves and glow in the dark "neck collars" (or something like that)...

i would argue that what they do is extremely useful (much more than just being another anonymous combat marine) america has no shortage of ground troops, and this elite drill core serves to instill a sense of pride & honor among the american people and their fellow troops. The moral and discipline they inspire are MUCH more important than having 15 more ground troops. In any combat situation, moral & discipline is EVERYTHING.

on the floor so that the next man behind catches the rifle of the guy that just let go of it in front of him.
The visual was very cool because I saw a line of glow in the dark material that didn't move for about 1/2 second every 3 feet or so while the bodies kept moving in a circle.
