Dutch people are amazing. Dutch culture is amazing. Some differences between the United States of America and the Netherlands (Dutch culture, lifestyle, language, etc). Living in the Netherlands vs USA.

Dude, Kom je Nederlandse paspoort halen man, jij hoort hier bij ons.
Give this guy a ticket to the Netherlands, he earned it.
Ja? Hahaha 😂
This guy understands us.
There is an inner Dutchie in him
Most dutch people don believe in god they just believe in real life
he looks so happy, like he's trying not to smile the entire time his words really warmed my heart
Yes. Jesus is love 😉
Ik voel me nu als Nederlander zo speciaal❤️😂
damm bro your dutch isn't that bad my man. I also laughed so hard when he spoke about us being down to earth like that is so true. If somebody would steps up to me and asks how I am you, you could basically expect me to look weird to you with the face: what you want from me?
Dutch in the title equals
G E K O L O N I S E E R D
this guy is a legend. I come from the Netherlands myself and I like to meet this guy.
Tak - Taak = Branch - Task
Vak - Vaak = Profession or Field - Often
Mak - Maak = Tame - Create or fix
It’s not easy with those A’s or AA’s
Just 1 identical extra vowel makes such a difference.
I love how he understands that we are not rude but just real...I like he managed to really get our culture
I'm Dutch, and when he burst out in grammatically correct Dutch, speaking to his friends... I have tears in my eyes. That's so beautiful.
I'm Dutch and very non-religieus, but this is one of the sweetest things I've ever heard. So, you also taught me something: if people come knocking on my door for religious preaching (which in general displeases me), I will be kind next time, because who knows it might be someone as nice as you.
Actually, living in the US was for me a bit of a similar experience as living in NL was for you. I really appreciated everyone I met there and I learned a lot.
I'd say we're honest rather than blunt.
Lot's of people can't handle the truth I guess, so they experience our honesty as being blunt.
Yes a lot of people live with feelings being more important than truth👍
My experience last year when i was in amsterdam. Most of dutch are warm people. They are very polite. Nice to talk with them. They are very open, they accept everyone.
I dont noitice that and im dutch myself😂
Not all of them, but yeah,
Well thank you
That Wingardium Levi-"eu"-sa comment was golden, I plan on using that whenever someone wants to become better at Dutch. Thanks for your love and kind words. Wie weet tot ziens in Nederland!
It's a shame you didn't mention De and Het and the mystery of no rule when to use each (you just have to learn when).
We would love more Americans like you to come live here! You are Honest and heartfelt! I was tearing up over here! Americans usually come across as fake, not you! You’re welcome here anytime if it was up to me 😃
Feel welcome to visit us again when the corona crisis is over! You explained it really well. It made me so happy that you were so positive about the Dutch people and culture!
9:15 Hearing this guy recite stuff I learnt in 3rd grade gave me a blast of nostalgia.
Didn't i see you in a video before?
I'm amazed how educated you are in our culture and history! You speak very inspiring and loving. It makes me proud and a bit emotional, as our people speak very direct and blunt. The message at the end was beautifull.
it's BIG fun to hear about our own culture and how other people see and feel it, deal with it. SO so fun xD
Je nederlands is erg goed.. keep up the good work..:D
hey man! it's so heartwarming to hear you talk so kindly and lovingly about holland and the dutch! and to hear how someone from the states experiences the dutch culture. you're dutch is pretty good as well! you're a good person and i wish you all the best in the world man, and hopefully you will get the chance to visit holland and your friends again!
grtz from holland
Wow man, you make me feel so humble, all that praise for us Dutch! You are amazing yourself and I have so much respect for you all, knocking on doors and trying to share your ideas with so many unwilling people yet always remaining calm and civilized. I’m pretty sure that we Dutch people could learn a lot of you in that respect. Oh, and thumbs up for your Dutch!!
Dutch people 98% Americans 1% other countries 1%
Dutch people: G E K O L O N I S E E R D
S' Hertogenbosch, AKA Den Bosch is from
"De Hertog zijn bos"
Which would be
"The Duke's forest"
"Ik mis de graapjes" haha! Je nederlands is erg goed hoor. Goed dat je zo'n mooie tijd had hier. Erg interessant om te horen hoe onze cultuur er "van buiten" uit ziet.
Moh when he started talking Dutch even though I'm not concerned I have some tears in my eyes
Just wondering how you're doing now, more than a year after this video was uploaded. Really enjoyed watching this video and your thoughts about the dutch. Are you planning to go back to the Netherlands?
Enjoyed your video very much. I am Dutch and you sounded like you were talking about me. I had a talk with a missionary like you about 60 years ago and I was very impressed, not pushy but very understanding of my feelings about the subject. About the names of the city's Den Haag used to be 'S-Gravenhage and before that, it was Des Graven Haag meaning the hedge of the Graaf (a Count I think). You see the city did not have City rights, therefore, it had no right to build a wall, so they planted a hedge. sHertogenbosh means the forest of the Hertog , You were right. Thanks again for your video. Maarten Jongebreur.
‘S gravenhage means de haag van de graaf (van holland) i.e. the forest of the duke of holland. It used to be the hunting grounds for the dukes of holland.
Actually it's the *count* of Holland. 's Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) means the forest of the duke.
Fact: 99% in the comments is Dutch, including me
I’m imagining I’m not Dutch myself and listening to what he says Dutch people sound like good people. I am proud😗✌🏻
It’s so nice to hear someone talk in such way about the Netherlands. Most people think dutch people are tall, speak German, live in Amsterdam, and smoke a lot of weed😂 also your Dutch is pretty good it definitely is a hard language
(I love how you love our country!) ❤ you are always welcome back!
As a Dutch person, this is heartwarming!
He is either a saintly human or a human saint. Sorry if I offend LDS people watching. This might occur more often in English, but is extremely rare in Dutch. You really became a Dutch speaker that is moving people. Rare in the Netherlands. Thanks for sharing and you will find your way. If not in the US, please come over.
I already was proud of our tiny country but he made me so sentimental. Really an awesome guy
Give this man a medal, when he started talking Dutch I understood him clearly. Keep up the fcking good work man you're welcome to the Netherlands
"Hyper practical and extremely down to earth"
I dont know why this video popped up but Im glad I watched it. You're welcome back anytime bud.
Your dutch is actually quite decent btw.
This was great to hear. You better come by soon. More than welcome.
's-hertogenbosch (my city) means "The forest of the duke" in old dutch.
I love your video and of course for praising us for our being straight forward etc... by the way we have another language here next to Dutch in my province Friesland which the language is called Frisian and it's the most close brother towards the English language.
This dude's understanding of the Dutch culture and language is outstanding! What a guy! Little feedback on the MOE sounds in Dutch, he pronounces it as MU, but it's more like MOO (in short, otherwise it'll sound like a cow)
‘They are amazing people’
I feel so good after hearing that! ^^
(I’m Dutch)
I somehow feel a bit more special now😂 you really are spot on with how you describe our culture as a whole! We could learn a few things from you when it comes to being a better person😜 bless you friend
I don't believe in religion but.... What a truly nice intelligent thoughtful human being. He can move in anytime. welkom in Nederland!
❤ You're are amazing
I'm getting emotional watching the end but in a good way
You have a beautiful soul with a big heart ❤
Your honesty is so appreciate thank you so much. I do believe we can all learn from each other
It's great to meet people like you even here ob you tube.
Your Dutch is incredibly good and funny somehow too lol
If you ever want to come back to visit the Netherlands know that you are always welcome, just saying
I love people who inspire others and you definitely did inspire me.
Much love sending your way from Eindhoven city
Thank you so much for the video
It's a pleasure watching at you 😘
I have totaly nothing whit your mission, but you are a beautiful person, keep up the good work but dont knock on my door plz for the mission. ;-)
But you are welcome for coffee
I am half Dutch, half American. Living In the Netherlands since I was 9, I am now 33. I understand what you mean with the bluntless and asking how you are. I appreciate the genuine directness and practicalness but sometimes I do miss the politeness and nice greetings from Americans
As a belgian, you really sound like a dutch person to me. Your dutch is really good.
I really LOVE this video...
I've watched/listened to it twice and I really enjoy it.
BTW, sober is the right translation for Nuchter.
Come back some time, it seems you really love this country and we love you back man!
Goddamn dude, I'm impressed and touched by how much you understand us and respect our culture.
I really appreciate this, thanks a lot man for the compliments about Holland 👊🏻
Back in the old Europe used to be a very tribal oriented. Later, like in the old Greece things it started focusing around city states. So cities would fight each other over land and power, etc. and it remained like this for quite a while. I think together with the tribal history this is where the distinct dialect and other differences between the cities and provinces now-a-fays comes from. Hope to see you soon! Je bent altijd welkom! ;-)
very nice to hear this about us down-to-earth Dutch people. That is definitely true.
Nice to know someone understands the dutchies. Nice video and you are welcome in the Netherlands whenever you want to.
Those differences around this country can be amazing, but also be amazingly stupid. I really feel you when talking about all the positive feels from your days here. Tussen alle depresi willen we diep van allen allemaal understanding en begrip voor ieder mens.... no matter who they are and what they believe in. What we fight for here, is not different from anywhere else in the world. its just on a different scale. Laat ons, ons zijn, also, Beste wensen voor 2020!
and btw..
Finally a good video wich is not only about Amsterdam, this is great and correct about our civilization society and culture. Thumbs up :)
Loved your passion there at the end, you do understand our spirit a whole lot. It's not always rainbow and sunshine though, but I highly enjoyed your explanation. I felt that at the end and your Dutch is actually very good. Just a little fine-tuning and it'll be better. But you don't really have an accent that I'd recognize as American though. Greetings from Northern (Friesland) Netherlands.
If someone asks me "How are you" I never know how to respond
The reason why most non-Dutch speaking people don't speak Dutch very well is because Dutch is a very hard language, especially in pronunciation. Also there are more dialects and ways to say a word. (And by that I don't mean Flemish, because that's a totally different language even though most words are the same except for the pronunciation).
Thank you for your kind words about our culture and i'd like to tell you: your smile and sincerity make you very handsome
I love you to! I think your amazing, allthough i'm am atheist (or rather agnostic), i think you spread the word of love and that's always a good thing. Don't know where you are at this point, but lots of love from Holland!
Jup, I originated from Twenthe and now live in Gelderland, its hell on earth, I wanna return to Twenthe
I’m Dutch and I say “ bedankt voor het compliment” or “thanks for the compliment”
Never felt so loved from someone I haven't met
Holy Shit! His dutch is amazing!! Respect!
never gets boring.. so spot on
Thuis guy is absolutely right! Goeie gozer!💪🏼
So nice how you speak about our country, je nederlands is super goed ga zo door! Hope you feel much better now.🌺
's Gravenhage means the "the counts' hedges" and Hertogenbosch means the "counts' forest".
He was spot on with the eu sound. What I've seen most Americans struggle with are the UI and the IJ/EI. Even people who've lived here for years still butcher it.
I randomly clicked this video and after watching I must say you are too kind, but I do relate to things you say when I look around. Anyways, you come over over a very nice person yourself. Have a good life 💪
Hearing such a different view on my own languadge is fascinating.
Jou Nederlands is uitstekend!
Very accurate description of us Duch people
Groeten uit Den Haag!
give this guy a ticket to the netherland than we smoke some weed togeter XD
Your dutch is pretty good 👍 I could understand everything.
Als je het hier mist ? Je bent altijd welkom !
Good dutch bro, i love Americans... Especially guys like this, fun and smart guy. Cheers to you from the Netherlands 👌
Thnx man.thats very kind of you.you know us dutch very good im impressed.i wish you the best and hope all will pack out good on youre path.
He is so cute, warm and handsome! Wat lief!!!
so true! great observation !
from wikipedia :-P The Hague was first mentioned as Die Haghe in 1242.[11] In the 15th century, the name "des Graven hage" came into use, literally "The Count's Wood", with connotations like "The Count's Hedge, Private Enclosure or Hunting Grounds". "'s Gravenhage" was officially used for the city from the 17th century onward. Today, this name is only used in some official documents like birth and marriage certificates. The city itself uses "Den Haag" in all its communications.[12]
Appreciate this video... mostly because all the commenters are Dutch and pretty much agree with him, so well done! Lol.
dude, this video is absolutely AMAZING!!! and ur Dutch is great and really understandable. i hope that you get to see your friends again!!! :)
