As a northern Norwegian, I always concidered us the Scottish of Norway. But apparantly we're the Asians of Norway. I can live with that.

It’s quite the surreal experience listening to someone explain Norway so accurately - from a place of understanding (as well as respect) - yet also as an outsider. For instance, I’ve never heard Julaften be explained in such a way that it sounds completely correct but also completely foreign.
Thank you, sir! You were a delight to listen to! As a Norwegian, I felt the pride swell in my heart, and I was happy to hear the genuine love with which you speak of Norway.
Bonus: I had to laugh when you mentioned how proud us from Bergen are of our dialect. Correct, again.

You can really tell he enjoyed his experience by his expressions as he mentions some of his memories. How refreshing to see an American actually immersing in another culture to the point of learning the language and sounding good!!

As an American who recently moved to Norway this is probably the best description I've heard. But take him seriously when he says Norwegians are reserved. Trying to find your way socially and learning the language with the dialect/accent of your region are probably the biggest struggles for an American living here

You left out the whole south of Norway. you should try southern Norway during summer if you ever get the chance! Known for boating, islets and the very summer'y feel all around. Sort of like a Florida just without the same heat... but then again no humidity and the sun gives you a warmer feeling than what you're used to.

As someone who is half Norwegian half Ecuadorian who has lived half her life in both countries. I can say that all of what he is saying is very true. But sadly kids and teens in Norway are often very spoiled. Not all. But a big chunk of them are. In my school I find a lot of the kids take too much for granted and are very ungrateful for the privileges they have. I have seen many kids in my highschool with an iPhone X throw it across the room. I have overheard kids complaining about their parents being too “poor” and just being outright disrespectful to the teachers to a point I start getting beyond enraged. Appreciating what they have is something they learn a lot later in life when they become adults (18-25 years old) and have to support themselves.

Actually we have alot of guns homes, but you cant buy automatic weapons, and to buy pistols and revolvers there are strict rules to how to aquire it and you need to be a member of a pistolclub to be allowed to buy one. Almost all weapons norwegians own are like rifles and shotguns and it is for use for hunting and sport. To aquire a gun you would apply police who check your background and approve if you are allowed to buy one. Also very strickt rules to store weapons home.
